People do not realize the great blues in St. Louis. Benefit for the Cure showed some great musicians. Kingdom Brothers, Melissa Nealy Band, Miss Molly Simms, etc. Some of the best Blues in the country originated here. The Roots of Blues is St. Louis. So many areats have began here or create original styles.
Excellent playing and great feel to this tune...you've got it down.
If you look at all the comments you will see that the OP learned this from a DVD lesson by Woody Mann....which came with TABs....you can learn the notes from tabs but the feel has to come from your heart and soul...this performance does. but do not belittle any learning technique that exposes and encourages people to play like this...however you want to learn go for it....just DO IT!
Amazing job you sound like him and you got the same guitar! Right, I don't wanna sound like an old jerk, but you don't learn how to play (like) this with tabs. you gotta watch Big Bill himself & listen to records. Ah ah, jonnyjames agrees...
This is a tradition kid ... learn it from the older and wiser guitarists ... im sure you can find someone in any city you live that will happily show you how to play the blues ... Stop depending on tabs .
Back to the video ... AMAZING MAN if I close my eyes I wouldnt know the difference between you and Big Bill ...
Ill post some stuff I hope you take a look .. im not as good as you but I love blues
@MightyAlz Not quite so cut and dried. Tab will tell you where to put your fingers and after a fashion that'll do. A machine can do that. That's white blues. Pat Boone did that for the people who didn't want to feel it. I think you missed sergetm 75's point.
This man is right. Like it or not, you want to be a guitar center jammer and poser, use the tabs. You want to PLAY live, for real audiences in real blues towns, learn from the few guys left that are really doing it. Tabs miss the point. Yes, you see the fingerings, but you are not playing, you are imitating.
Bugger - I rated it and hit 4 instead of 5 - sorry, I'm new to this. Is it possible to take it back? I could never get that real big bill thumb sound. That's great.
Another great rendition of the the master blues player thank you for this and well played too. I don't seem to have seen this on the shelves rencently but it must still be available?
Great thumbwork. As far as I know BB recorded this only once : in my hometown Antwerp/Belgium. It was also the first blues I ever heard when I was 14 years old. They used this tune as the intro of a Belgian radioshow called "Jazz Blues". How time flies...
I really enjoyed this!!!

Uh, that's simply silly. Most people who play blues nowadays learn from tabs and have done for many years.
Ever read any of Stefan Grossman's books? Tabs!
MightyAlz 2 years ago 5
Did Muddy Waters use Grossman's books? What about John Lee Hooker or BB. King?
butterflypokechop 2 years ago
Yeah, well, that's why they're not very good guitarists.
:p
Well, John Lee certainly isn't. Big Bill would laugh his head off at his "playing".
