I have a partitioned hard drive on the network. Everything was working fine, then something happened and I have to reset my router. Now my router will only find one of the partitions. I used to work fine. Do you know how I can find it?
From windows, I had an issue with trying to connect the the attached usb storage.
Trying to map to \\readyshare\USB_Storage did not work.... that is the the name that exists under the USB section of the router config panel. Trying just \\readyshare (notthing)..
Solution:
I stumble across a solution --- use all lowercase ie \\readyshare\usb_storage ... not sure why I tried all lowercase but glad I did. Hope this helps someone else as I see a lot of others were hitting the same.
So where is the video on UPnP connections, specifically for PS3. I am trying to connect my hard drive to the PS3 and it is not recognized through the usual windows media connection. Is there something else I have to do?
@dswg1980 your internal hdd's are almost always on when your pc is on which for many is all the time... as long as it has room to breath it shouldnt get to hot and for the most part ur golden. plus just get an external encloser and get a hdd with a 3-5 year warantee. it sucks to lose data but it does happen. Hard drives fail for all sorts of reasons.
i have multiple laptops at my house...they all are connected to the dual band router via wifi...after i connected my external hard drive with the router, i accessed the external hard drive with the steps you provided, then i skipped to the second laptop ..its running XP ...i tried accessing the files by putting "\\readyshare" a pop-up comes up asking me for a user name and password...what do i do??
However, there's one thing I need to tell you. 10.1.x.x is a non-routable IP address. Unless you're on your own network you can't access your \\readyshare\USB_storage. Most likely, your smart phone was connected to your network via Wi-Fi, and when you typed in the share address you were able to access it.
Other than that it's a pretty good video tutorial.
ReadyShare works great untill the 3rd or 4th day . After that you wont have access to the HD thats plugged into this router....... You will have unplug the router from power supply let it reset...... COME ON NETGEAR. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM,LETS FIX IT MAKE ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS HAPPY......
hi, I have the dgn2200 netgear router... the config page is the same of your model... when I put a usb pen into the router it see the pen but if I try to click the "edit" or "create new network folder" button the router don't show me the correct page (where I have to apply my settings) but it remain on the same page (advanced settings)...
great video I'll try this today. ? any idea why when I hard wire my ps3 and a desktop to one of the ports it goes green and when I wire my slingbox its stay yellow but still work is theat normal. thanks
thank you that was helpfull...............

I ran all the steps, but set a password, in the Advanced Settings, under EDIT.
When I try to map the "network drive", I asked a user name and password, but it appears that all the correct data are incorrect.
Also it says that I belong to the domain "Fafu-PC" (my computer).
I have to write the username in another way? What is the domain of the router? Why do I say that the data is incorrect?

Unfortunately the performance of ReadyShare is absolutely terrible. Only 2MB/sec!!! Beware, it's not practical to transfer videos over the network...
