I bet there aren't a dozen albums I'll happily play all the way through and this is one of them. Good to see I'm not alone. My friends back then weren't a good measure for good music but I knew damn well this was great stuff. Didn't need it but the confirmation here means I was right and I love that
Along with Swoon by Prefab Sprout, one of the best song based albums of the 80s. It's a shame that Roddy and co. never reached the heights of the debut again but it is timeless.
@Tuzotonic I agree with you. When I was a young teen in the 80's I was obsessed with this album! I bought the vinyl and wore it out and till this day I can't really name a debut album from this period that can match this one! Also their style is very unique, I call them "new wave pop folk."
@Tuzotonic I agree with you - HLHR is a fantastic album and there isn't a bad song on it. Fell in love with this album when it was released and it's stayed with me all these years. Along with Rattlesnakes by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, this album soundtracked a very important part of my life and Roddy Frame's songs continue to inspire...............every home should have one
