@funkyprincess014 nahh I didn't. I was being stupid at this competition and accidentally did the whole first step to 4th intermediate aerial instead of 4th aerial. whoops :)
@highlanddancer1011 Well still you do the lilt much better than I do but I'm only a beginer and this is my second year of highland dancing but anyway you did great
That. Was. Incredible. I am just learning the lilt right now (I'm a beginner adult dancer) and that was very inspirational...shows me what I need to be trying to do. Also, I love how you can hear the little girl at the end go "Yay Tierney!".
Very very nice! I've been to a ceilidh in Nova Scotia where I saw that dance my first time. One question: why is it called lilt and what does lilt mean? I thought it would be that kind of "mouthmusic".. regards from the flat north of germany, chris
Really? I hate the lilt. I think it's the most boring scottish dance, and yes, I do dance. But, then again, I may be biased because it is my worst dance.
Very Beautiful! You would be praised right now for you pointing and turned out thigh and all of the techneiques right now if my dance teachers saw you! Again beautiful, are you beginner (nah too good), novice, intermediate, or premier?
Did you get first place in this dance??

Your extensions in the first step should be to fourth though, not fourth intermediate

I haven't been highland dancing for a long time...but here is what I have gathered.
Lilt translates to, light...notice how the dance is very light and graceful on her feet...almost like ballet.

question? In lilt do you hold the slip aswell as the skirt. Different people do it differently so I am confused!
highlanddancer1313 4 years ago
No, we hold just the skirt. I have never heard of anyone grabbing their petticoat as with the skirt. Perhaps that's a S. country dance move.
highlanddancer1011 4 years ago
i don't i just saw someone holding i tat a competitoin in edmonton

highlanddancer1313 4 years ago
hm...weird.
highlanddancer1011 4 years ago
Scottish country dancers (women) don't hold the petticoats. (i Scottish country dance)
NeverMindBird 2 years ago
just skirt not the slip thts why you hve the slip vut the lilt is tricky so sometimes well dancing you accidentily grab the slip aswel as the skirt.
