@MrDanielHolmes "Speed chucks", or Pro Chux, are supposed to have short chains. The shorter the chain/rope, the faster the nunchaku, hence the name. However, it lacks a lot of striking power because of that, and it's generally much harder to handle than your standard nunchaku, which has a moderately longer chain.

Nunchaku with shorter connections are usually harder to control because of their speed, and it would usually take longer to learn the bases than using a pair with a normal length rope. Though of course with enough experience, this would become irrelevant.

@metalkarateka well you should probably buy speed chucks they are alot better and easier to control, i practice with the original nunchaku's. i have the cocoa bowla (spelling?) wood and the thick string, and they are preety heavy and are a little hard to control but i manage with a lot of practice so it will take some time, just dont give up!

i have busted dudes up with nunchucks in actual combat but not with the spinny little techniques u see this guy or others using on tv & in movies. whatever u learn u have to be able to do it on a heavy bag. the little flippy techniques will come back & hit your hands/wrists & head. I did taekwondo for 4 years and I already got my first degree blackbelt, which costed my parents $120 dollars for a fucking belt. Nunchucku is the stupidest weapon since the yo-yo-- it's not even a real weapon, it's just one of those improv-things from feudal regions where people weren't allowed to HAVE real weapons.

The only advantage is that you can hide it in a shirt-sleeve, that's why it's the length of a forearm. When you twirl it around like a cheerleader's baton, it loses that sole advantage.
