In position, the Boers were very strong, but could not depend on resupply. The Zulus need to fix the Boers in position and let their dearth of logistics do the rest. If there was a water supply for the laagered Boers, the Zulus could go upstream and shit in it. Eventually the Boers would be forced to move - then the Zulus could fall on them and kill the lot.

Unfortunately for the Zulus, they weren't tricky enough.

the truth of the matter is that one of the justifications for apartheid was the Battle of Blood River which was not wo nby divine providence but by superior weapons. The Zulus had much better tactics, the Boers had modern guns. This is the story throughout Africa, whites had better weapnry, blacks better tactics.
