  • Those lights were in the sky for over an hour and were captured on film from different angles from many different parts of the area. The explanation is insulting.

  • @KamaraSune LOL

  • I'm glad that the government I hiding evidence of extra terrestrial activities. I say amen to that

  • Regardless of what it is. It comes from this planet and was created by non other than HUMANS. You are a sheep if you are stupid enough to fear an alien invasion. Fear is the best control of SHEEPLE. If I am right, the future will be filled with sightings of UFO's threatening planet earth You will all sign your rights away once you fall for this trickery Mathematically, chances are we are not alone in the universe ALSO Mathematically, chances are we are not in contact with life from another world

  • This video will soon have a red light saber beneath it wise ones!

  • this idiotic video is debunked. flares flying in formation and staying aloft for quite some time? no sparks, etc? air force said they dropped flares late - 9:30 or so - and first sightings at about 8:20. and what does the maryland guard have to do with it? they have their own range back east.

  • Holy christ people are dumb, this is only one video, what about the other 20? What about the 10,000 witnesses who watched this craft fly from flagstaff through pheonix to tuscon? What about the fact that this is a phenomena that has happened about 5 times in different dates?

  • @dzeaz3231 says: people are dumb, this is only one video, what about the other 20?

    *

Doh? Surely, if the UFO nuts want to believe this clear evidence they will also believe/fall for all the other natural explanations? What do the scientists tell us: our eyes play tricks with us!

  • Aboslute Rubbish! I preffer to belive the witnesses rather then some half back simulation the military comes up with. People really are stupid if they belive this without listening to the eye witnesses. People are so egger to eplane things away and laugh at them they never hear the truth. Please people there may be allot of UFO hoax about but this is not one of them. Do your research.

  • Wasn't there video footage from some guy on the other side of the mountain which clearly showed the flares falling then going out? (and it wasn't from any military/government agency as well).

  • What the video leaves out if the fact that the air force said they dropped the flares between 930 and 10pm whereas the first sightings took place around 820pm. Furthermore, it was proven that the video being 'debunked' was actually in fact filming the flares that the air force dropped. It does nothing to explain the other 1 1/2 to 2 hours of sightings that took place along an almost 200mile corridor.

    This video has been debunked.

  • I just have a problem with people( like Lyn Kitai) cashing in on somthing not yet proven to be abnormal.

  • Not quite the prescribed debunking.

  • 1000's of Arizonans, INCLUDING the GOVERNOR, said what they saw was a SOLID OBJECT that BLACKED OUT THE NIGHT SKY, BLOCKING THE STARS, with lights attached to it- not just lights.

They also saw it at 8:25pm. The army's "official explanation" aka excuse was they were flares dropped...

    ..at 10:00pm..

I think most UFO sightings are bogus.. but not this one.

  • Isaac Newton Once Said All Objects Fall at the Same Rate of Speed ....So perhaps if the Flares were falling at the same speed they would fall in unison. It's just a speculation but it seems to conform to existing laws of physics. Plus if they were falling in unison my guess is our brain would have a way of filling in the blanks between the flares and believe that there was something connecting the dots. That was my first interpretation but other than flares nothing else is visible to the eye.

  • @alkire7396 havent you had a science class where you drop two objects at once?? they dont fall at the same speed dude!

  • I saw the lights that night...I served in the military and have seen flares a million times...the don't just stay stationary in a perfect formation for minutes without falling to the earth...those lights DID NOT fall ..even slowly....I guess these were gravity free flares that had little helicopter blades keeping each and everyone of them in perfect height and formation...BULLSHIT!!!

  • @TheArizonaMark Those flares have small parachutes attached for flying exercises, but nice try.

  • I was one of the pilots of the training exercise as well... <--- ( See how I can lie too)

  • there all full of crap period

FOLKS WHO WANTS THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT THE PHOENIX LIGHTS?

I DARE YOU TO COME SEE MY VIDEO ITs A FACT IT'S 100% REAL

AND IT'S ONE OF THE GOVERMENTS BIGGEST LIES EVER I GUARENTEE

YOU WANNA HERE WHAT I HAVE TO SAY... SEE MY VIDEO RESPONCE "AMAZING BLACK AIRCRAFT UFO REAL"

    youtube.com/watch?v=Zb4yKVTxCkg

  • phoenixlightsufo . com

Eyewitness Tim Ley, with his ENTIRE FAMILY, knows what he/they saw. The lights were on a solid shape, and it blocked out the starry sky as it passed overhead.

  • i hate believers and debunkers both... What The Fuck..

  • These guys are Natural Born Idiots.

  • This "explanation" is only a COMPUTER SIMULATION. If these are common, jet flares, then SHOW US ACTUAL VIDEO FOOTAGE.. not this b.s. mock-up.

  • @Freshbrood LoL

  • Comment removed

  • Are witnesses lying who said the lights MOVED, AND PASSED OVER their neighborhoods? These same witnesses also claim that the lights were obviously ATTACHED to a craft that was wider than 10 747s airliners. Are these people lying? They saw the night stars all around the craft, but no stars where the craft itself was.....proving it was a real, solid object in the night sky, because directly behind the lights it was black.

  • @aaaredskin Yes, they are all lying/exaggerating to bring attention and fame to their otherwise largely irrelevant state. If it was that clear-cut and it's true it flew over "very slowly" as they say, there would be high quality videos and photos shot from underneath it, simple as that. Everyone saw from the same, distant vantage point in the videos which leaves room for some very reasonable doubt.

  • @0willow0 I'm keeping an open mind because I know what you say is indeed a possibility. Hey, I was not there that night, so there's no way I can know for sure what was actually "seen."

  • @aaaredskin True that, i don't believe what a growing list of people claim they saw.

  • If they are flares, then how on earth can they all be perfectly lined up the way they are? No way, NO HOW can flares dropped down from a plane or planes all end up perfectly lined up like this on the mountain(s). And I don't think it's a craft from outer space. I've always felt that the military was testing a huge floating wing....a craft that could be used for certain kinds of reconassaince missions, etc.

  • this "debunking" is no more compelling than the stories that support the ufo theory...actually, they are far less compelling and sound like typical closed minds. why is it so hard to accept that if life evolved on our planet, the same thing probably happened on other planets too? stupid and arrogant.

  • @mgm281 Take some astro-physics and then you'll understand why there are not aliens orbiting Earth. Nothing has the life span or resources to reach another galaxy because light-speed travel IS impossible. There is certainly intelligent life on other planets (we're here after all) but the closet planet considered to support life is 30+ light years away. We actually just discovered it and sent a message to it so hopefully we'll get a response in ~60 years!!

  • @0willow0 i suggest you stick to arguing about basketball and video games as usual

  • @mgm281 And why's that friend? Gimme some advice on how to conduct my life.

  • Haha. So much controversy. To be honest, I have no fucking clue what that shit was. Based on my research, flares aren't supposed to stay up for that long, so idk about the whole flares thing. One thing I DO know is that up to today, there still hasn't been a clear, legitimate, day sighting of a UFO. And im talking with photo and video evidence all over the place. So, are we alone? HELL NO, but im still not 100% convinced that UFOs or any other form of life have visited our home planet.

  • I was driving from Phoenix to Yuma and saw the lights. They did not go out! I have managed chaff and flare dispensers and what I saw was no FLARE. I consider this an attempt to propagate disinformation. I do not consider it to be an alien ship or presence. I simply saw this and cannot explain it nor can I accept this silly analysis.

  • Also, this is explains why the left half of the "ship" is missing, besides that one light

  • I would take this video more seriously, but it ignores most of the witness testimony and photographic evidence.

  • @revived0103 No it doesn't.. what it does is proves those testimonies were misguided or lies... If u think about it, How many different people have u SEEN give testimony in the numerous documentaries on the subject? i have gone back and counted less than 10.. How many actual 911/emergency calls have u ever heard? ive only heard like 3 or 4... And what other photos are u talking about? I haven't any that don't look about the same as this... BTW, I believe there are UFO's in AZ cause i saw one

  • Also, If the one i had seen was as big and "real" and 100% proof, no doubt.. I would be screaming about it for the rest of my life, and not let anybody think it wasn't real... AND I WOULD NOT STOP until i had proven it it to every single person i talked about it to..I mean, come on, the implications of this are fucking HUGE... It would change the world, change human history, and alter our future!.. But when I see some fat dude sitting on a porch saying "well, it was as big as a football field,

  • (Continued from above) .... But when I see some fat dude sitting on a porch saying "well, it was as big as a football field, and it was silent" like it was no big deal, that mean he is lying or .. lying... People say that alot of sightings dont get reported because of the risk of embarrassment... IF IT WAS TRUE, THEN WHO GUVES AFUCK ABOUT EMBARRASSMENT! ?? . I mean, u see something like that, and your gonna worry about being embarrassed? Why would u be embarrassed if it was true?

  • @nckey42 yes i misspelled gives, sue me

  • Respond to this video... The bottom line, is that if it was an alien ship, there would be NO DOUBT! There just wouldn't... Proove me wrong

  • @nckey42 Dude, I don't care. I just have a different perspective than you.

  • The team from Fact or Faked were doing case by jeff Wiles, trying to see if they could replicate what he filmed. As they were watching the sky, they saw a craft go across the sky, do an immediate about face and speed off the other way. NO aircraft can do that and none were out that night, nor were there any flares. They seen the real thing, and so did the viewers. It was amazing. There may be other things like flares or planes in other cases, but not in this one. THIS WAS REAL

  • This conclusion that the lights were merely flares sounds to many like a solid answer, but has already been shown to be inconsistent numerous times. The lights in the 1997 footage were reported by countless people, and estimated thousands of witnesses to had silently moved south across Phoenix airspace over nearly the entire length of the state. Even the governor of Arizona at the time admitted that it wasn’t something worthy of conventional explanation.

  • Why were they dropping flares all over the mountain!?!?!?

  • these were special military flares, a new kind they're developing. These new flares stay suspended in mid-air, they don't emit smoke, they travel very slowly at a steady altitude in a fixed formation and they don't burn out for several hours.

Oh, and they don't illumiate anything on the ground, which makes them pretty useless as flares, but whatever.....

  • Why does that last UFo Remain there for longer than the rest.... hmmm, maybe it it because the flair fell slower than the rest or its light lasted longer. Elvis has been Dead for a long time and yet we have 30,000 Elvis sightings every year claiming that they saw the "real" king. Sad that we always jump to ET's before anything else. Oh its a UFO, must be an ET.... ... Start from the logical and whatever remains, however illogical, must be true. All is see is illogical first and no logic!

  • The government denied initially that any aircraft were operating in the vicinity. After TV reports, they cooked this flare story up. Watch the Nat Geo video analysis. No way these are flares.

  • So what, the lights disappeared behind the mountain, doesn't make them flares

  • This video didn't bother explaining how in the SAME video, the "flares" move in formation from a cluster to a row.

  • I have lived in Phx my entire life...these lights are holding patterns for sky harbor. We live in a valley with often harsh wind currents above the city. The aircraft by control tower must have authority to have aircraft maintain holding patters over the city, the landing lights come on at a certain time in decent so when we suddenly see the arch forming, this is just the aircraft coming into a holding/line up position into the active runways at the airport.

  • Um how does this debunk it again? You photo shopped two pictures together and.... That's it?

  • ok so Hundreds no wait Tens of thousands, of people claim that this "thing" hovered over they're heads for hours on end and then went behind the moutains, out of site. thats why the lights cant possibly be flares, Well id like to see the video Evidence proving that the lights did infact stay over head for that long, yes you heard me right a video with that amount of footage, in length captured and uncut..

  • these ar NOT flares and heres why: The burning magnesium from flares illuminates the rising smoke above.no smoke in any phoenix light vid. flares purpose is to illuminate the ground. a flare of such high power like the debunkers want u to believe would easily illuminate the entire mntn. ridge! (which they dont). The military wouldNEVER drop ANY flares over populated areas. and how would these "flares" float in formation from PHX to Tucson? hmmm?

  • this was only one video of many that were shot. most of the vids i saw did not go down behind mountains, but slowly flew across the night sky ...not down like flares. but, i could be wrong.

  • So because it was behind the mountain that means that there is no chance of it being an alien being and that it is just flares because it went BEHIND the mountain.

  • PHX lights = MK-24 parachute flares with 2 million Magnesium burn candlepower and 3 minute duration ejected from the SUU-25 pod with 8 flares double stacked in 4 tubes. Now google that...and count these lights, 8. Not 7 or 9. just 8.falling at 8ft/sec 25 miles away at Gila Bend ranges. .this is a non-event that only fighter pilots even have a clue about,...New technology GPS & NVG now ...Thousands of excited people that don't know what they are seeing must be right, I guess ... A37 FAC

  • this video sucks my balls

  • Anyone else on here see the "lights" hover in ? My neighbors and I had seen them myself pass over approx 51st ave and the loop 101. It did not make me believe in little green men.

  • Though, even if the lights did go behind that mountain - how is that evidence in one way or another? I'm remaining neutral in this debate even though I would like it to be true, but again: why does the lights going behind the mountain work in favour of it being flares? Please explain.

  • @MojoRisinist I think a lot of this coincides with evidence over lack there of. The way they fall, and the timing of which they disappear behind the mountain credits the flare explanation. You can speculate all you want but the facts remain that they were flares, based on available evidence.

Some people say they disappeared in-front of the mountain, but the video doesn't fucking lie.

  • @MojoRisinist Because the Lt. Col. said they were dropping flares when it happened.

  • All this video proves is that the lights went behind the mountain, not that they are flares!

  • LtCol Tanaka has either never seen the videos or is deliberately covering up this incident. As a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard with 32 years experience I can tell you these lights are NOT flares. Besides, I witnessed the phenomena from my home in Vail, AZ...about 100 SE of Phoenix on the same night. They moved (slowly) from the Picacho Peak area SE over the Catalina Mtns. Flares don't move in formation like that, Lt Col.

  • I've been in the USAF and Air National Guard since 1979. I know what military flares look like, and they look nothing like the lights seen in the video. It's simple enough to find "YouTube" video illustrating what flares look like, so debunkers should check it out. Plus, I witnessed these lights (moving from NW to SE) from my home 100 miles SE of Phoenix on 13 March. I watched them for 15 minutes and thought, "Now that's interesting", but thought no more of it until I heard all the hoopla.

  • Out of ALL of infinity how are we so stuck up to believe we are the only "intelligent " life?

  • Debunking the debunkers. Magic flares that hover and don't drop? People looked directly up into the soft glowing orbs.

  • yea the lights in the video were flares great but there was also a mile big aircraft that flew over 10000 peoples heads

  • The 'lights' lasted alot longer than a flare could have sustained COMPLETELY LEVEL altitude and PERFECT horizontal formation relative to one another, the longer it stays up, the more it will randomly be pushed around by wind! I wont bother with distance/city light interference, but I will end by saying.... Magnesium flares have WHITE smoke, they are THE easiest smoke to see compared to fireworks etc, the smoke is so easily seen because it reflects all light that the flare gives out, unmistakable

  • ihmen. Check out the sighting by John Fairfax in 1969 of an object identical to the Phoenix Lights. Just type; 'John Fairfax U.F.O. Sighting'. What is amazing about Arizona is the way these Objects massed over Phoenix without any Official interest being taken in them.

  • ihmen. No I have never taken any video or pictures. They appear as brilliant 'Star' like objects. But when you look at them they fade and vanish. At first I thought this was just an eyesight problem or something, until over the years I read of how other people have seen the same thing and noticed the same behaviour. Also, I noticed they fly extremely high like Satellites, but can remain stationary unlike Satellites. The brilliant 'light' I now believe is some kind of Laser observation machine.

  • Sorry, but this does not answer the question of what happened in Phoenix that night. The Craft seen are like ones I have seen for decades and appear to be some kind of advanced reconnaissance Aircraft. Obviously something was important enough for American Search Teams to fly in formation over Phoenix that night.

  • @John1576able you've been seeing this "craft" for decades? have you ever taken a video of one? up close or at day time?

  • Its not too difficult to write a software program, make minor changes to data points and make the lights disspear behind the mountain range. After all the commentator says "after several hours the intricate process was complete". I dont believe in UFOs but this is rediculous!

  • These lights are flares dropped at around 10:15PM on the same night as the "Phoenix Lights" incident. (I call them the "Phoenix Flares")But the actual "Phoenix Lights" object was the clear, enormous V-shaped object that slowly overflew Phoenix between 08:15PM and 09:30PM, closely observed by thousands. The two are separate events.

  • One angle and the sighting is debunked? Debunkers don't venture too far do they!?

  • this is rediculous, the government is hiding shit! i was their! I FUCKING SAW IT, EVEN THE FUCKING GOVENOR OF ARIZONA AGREES THAT IT WASNT MAN MADE. aliens are very much real and they come here time to time to confuse the hell out of us.

  • @zptramel Amazing how people who weren't there somehow have a better perspective of this sighting than those that were there.Denial is a serious psychological condition.Another of my favorites is ''They weren't TRAINED observers'' WTF is that!? There must be a serious shortage of these people, cause there is never one around.

  • so what? might as well be a UFO disappearing behind the mountain. i dont think it is, but this video doesnt prove anything.

  • is this guy for real? what a crock of $hit.

  • y'all are idiots.

  • complete bull

  • It is amazing to me that even today, 'UFO shows' on so-called credible networks point to these flares as "Evidence witnessed by thousands" and then move on to some other silly clip without ever mentioning the truth.

  • flares don't move in perfect geometrical formations over cities on repeated occasions. furthermore, they leave a smoke trail.

just a lazy explanation that only convinces the entirely ignorant.

    /watch?v=f_q21hIcsBk&feature=fvw

  • I have to agree with this conclusion 100%. When the superimposed footage is played its obvious that the flares fall behind the mountain. The two videos match perfectly and coincide precisely! These lights are not UFO's. Anyone that believes otherwise clearly cant analyse and disseminate logical optical laws from speculation!

  • @Hariboification so your saying that flares moved across northern AZ down to southern AZ? Because people saw this formation move from Oak Creek canyon down to phoenix. plus flares dont glow.. they are very very bright and they emit noise from the burning phosphorus... soldiers on Luke Airforce Base also said they were not flying that night and there is audio tapes of the f16's that were scrambled of the pilots talking to each other about the lights... they were very scared to say the least.

  • Saw this televised a few years ago when it was originally aired - anyone who continues to deny the 'lights' are anything BUT flares is either a complete idiot or completely delusional.

    .

Guess some people just enjoy the attention.

  • @lilalex9

or, they could be an expert on the subject. which you're not.

    /watch?v=f_q21hIcsBk&feature=fvw

go to about minute 3 or 4.

    flares?

    simply ridiculous.

  • One piece of footage related to the phenomena gets debunked yet there were thousands of credible and highly professional witnesses who testify that these were huge lights right above their heads moving across the sky! 10,000 people didn't report these lights being in the distance. They reported them being right above their heads. I'm talking about doctors, police officers, military personnel, credible people who wouldn't confuse this for flares. Flares give off visible smoke for a start.

  • there are not "thousands who claim the lights went over their heads". Its estimated thousands witnessed these lights in the distance exactly what you see here. There were a few people in the aftermath of the flares who claimed they saw something earlier in the evening at 8:30pm, That list has grown since the years went bye. Despite the fact they claim it was huge and right over their heads moving slowly nobody got a picture or video amazing! Those flares are 30 miles away u wont see smoke.

  • @skeptic9876 wow, at last, someone who has a brain and uses it on youtube. That is not sarcasm either because I totally agree with you. I have seen the pics of this during the daytime and wonder why nobody says anything about these "lights" being right at the top of the mountain that is there? It's as if people stood up there & lit the flares, I say flares because you can see them flickering, and then they go out "ALMOST" in the same order they lit up. Why does nobody mention the mountain?

  • @skeptic9876 How do you debunk an actual sighting. Drop flares right after the sighting I have some bad news for you The Phoenix craft was FILMED flying over Freemont on Dec 5th 2008 AND photographed over Englewood 3rd October 2010.

Flares dont travel at 20000 mph

    Regards

    Andy

  • @skeptic9876

I just watched a documentry on this, they ARE NOT FLARES.

A technical engineer looked through 4000 frames and compared them with flares we already know about, he ran them through a light fluctuation program, and showed they did not flicker not military flares would, he said they are not flares

  • Comment removed

  • @skeptic9876 Well i hate to tell yo uthis flares are not amber in color like everyone described nor do they float in the air for min at a time.

  • @VirkDS or maybe just quit being ignorant to the fact that there is more then just us in this never ending expanding universe...

  • @skeptic9876 I like how you act like you completely understand this subject but you don't have proper grammar.

  • @skeptic9876 these lights stayed in the sky for more than an hour flares don't fly scuse me these shits are not flares

  • @TreyBrutha Why did the camera man who was taping the flares on top of the mountain to begin with not get a video of this so called flying craft? don't you think he would have been in the perfect spot to keep video taping this? Did he just witness a once in a lifetime event and say "ok, thats enough video for today, I don't want to see what's going to happen next". The governor never said anything about seeing it fly either, he just seen the flares at the top of the mountain

  • @TreyBrutha They have not debunked this. Its simple game of data manipulation.

It happens all the time. You can argue all day and opponents will disapprove you through irrational arguments. Are there UFOs? probably not. What was it? I dont know, but it was not flares or A10 warthogs.

  • This video is easy to "debunk." The Lt. Col. calls it an "airplane". The MD. Air NG would not be in Arizona. The daytime image superimposed by the Dr. is not accurate, and he exaggerated the location to reinforce his own beliefs. If you look at a live video of the lights, they arne't anywhere NEAR the mountain range. Also, flares do not behave, and DO NOT look like that. If it was a military operation, (then) Governor Fife Symington would have been informed by the military, but he wasn't.

  • I agree with you flapjack. Some people will listen to anyone in a uniform.

  • @flapjack9999 OH, but they are near the mountain , exactly right at the top of it. And flares do in fact look EXACTLY like this, considering they are miles away to begin with. You can see the flickering of them, and when they light up, they have the exact same look as a flare.

  • great ur amazing government employees debunking, so it has to be truthful, debunker douchebag

  • Gees. It's so simple. Great debunk. I hadnt heard about this debunk til today. Nice.

  • omg the real lights looked nothing like the flares. i would know

  • @doggyluv13 I would know too, and the real lights are on the video, and guess what? They are flares, everyone is going to say "nope, thats not it, i work with flares, they look nothing like this, or , my 3rd cousin twice removed on my great uncle jack's side was there & he said he seen a craft fly over, abduct him, anal probe him, then set him back down in his front yard.

  • @Shockerman2000

    /watch?v=f_q21hIcsBk&feature=fvw

here is why the flares theory is silly. go to about the third or fourth minute for analysis from a military witness, a pyrotechnics expert, and a video analyst.

    it's just silly.
