@manolvalchev - because BMW's and Merc are designed to be rear wheel drive first - so they are more balanced in RWD. Quattro is part of what makes Audi....

The merc is better in a straight line, the audi is better in the corners, the mercedes is more fun and less expensive, the audi is more refined, comfortable and better suited for everyday usage. Both epic, get an M3 =P

life just doesn't happen in the dry or wet its hapoens in both and if you live in certain areas you can add snow and ice to that as well. Audi's Quattro is built to handle all of these. I watched a Merc trying to go up an icy road last night failing Miserably. I drove right by in my S4... an E55 will blow my doors off on the hwy but on our Colorado back roads and mountain passes it doesn't stand a chance

This has to be tied with the stupidest comparison test I've ever seen, the other was the rs6 vs e63 by top gear, the problem : you don't get a RWD and an AWD car and put them on a wet track to see which is faster. If it was a completely dry track the c63 would have win this test guarenteed

@E46325mod - if you watch racing there are different types of weather - even if it's dry - and the further the race goes on - the track degrades... that's why quattro cars were banned for having "unfair advantage"... that's life.

@jconte29 - lolololol.... Mercedes doesn't make money from F1... big companies always lose money racing... they do it mainly for research. In the series Audi and Mercedes compete directly (like DTM) - Audi usually wins. Go back to the 1930's when it was Auto Union (Audi's old name) and Mercedes were both the two dominant racers.

Why does every comparison involving AMG and Audi S have to be on a rainy day? I beat the latest Audi Ss and BMW Ms every week with my 2003 E55 on the regular highway, wet or dry. Who cares about the twisty race tracks on a rainy day? That's bull.

@jsjoblo - a car you buy for the street should be ready for anything at anytime.... My uncle has an E55.... lovely engine... but I didn't care for the steering or suspension. As far as race cars... in racing series teams can modify tires etc... but it doesn't matter if it's dry or not... remember quattro was banned from most racing series...

I hope persons will take note that the fastest way to get around a track is not by drifting in the corners. I still find it strange that the C with all that extra torque lost so much time in the corners because of a little dampness. I'm pretty sure the C is also lighter... so I'm thinking it could be also suspension tuning. That said... there is a reason Quattro was called an "unfair advantage" in racing. Even in the dry... as the track wears down... its advantage increases.

That C63 doesn't have near the engine note that their footage gives... its yells where the Audi has an extremely smooth grumble. Its really a shame Audi is shelving the V8 for the V6 in 2013.

I can't tell if this C63 has the amy pack on it but will assume it doesn't based on the advertised 451hp. A wet track and no LSD for the AMG... good luck putting the power down. Compare a P31 with 487 (my 2012 is closer to 510 from the factory weird!) and LSD on a dry track and I think its the other way around!
