@MrHandy4u ... Dude, not because we're Dominicans, or from the Caribbean, or Latin means that everyone do what you say. Because in every part of the world there are people who doesn't care if they're dead or not to steal their things.
Been to the D.R. multiple times and I would NEVER take a bus down there, even if my life depended on it. People drive like complete and utter maniacs down there. Best case scenario is if you have a friend who lives there who can drive you around.
@thunderstruck665 Sadly most of the dominicans drive like crazy people, but the most are the motorcycle drivers. Even though, it's not normal these kind of accidents. And you know it can always happen something.
@Taysuke93: The mosquitoes! Yes, I remember them well! They were a dime a dozen. I get it since gasoline is crazy expensive over there and it's probably much cheaper than having a car. Our friends down there ran their cars on propane tanks they had bolted to the inside of their trunks. Just crazy how there doesn't seem to be any kind of well defined or enforced traffic laws down there.
@thunderstruck665 Hehehehe it's not "The mosquitoes" it's "Motoconchos", but yes is cheaper than having a car. Even though there are traffic laws, the thing is that sadly this country is full of corruption. I wish my country wasn't so. I'm proud of being dominican, but i'm sad of how it's.
last I heard the "hall" does not speak, nor anyone is speaking to the "hall" ...that being said "that's" is missing the apostrophe and what are you giving "to" stupid? Oh....you meant too.....gosh you are a genius! then you blame your "cuzin" (cousin) that made that (coment) I guess you meant comment, and your cousin does not own spelling....now does he? Learn to "speak" before you know a person that made a completely correct statement, since it was not done in your language you mock it?
En realidad es cierto lo que dice borikenlover, esto puede pasar en cualquier lugar, lastima paso aqui, y que han pasado peores cosas o accidentes en otros paises, asi que para alante dominicanas y dominicanos somos los buenos,,,,,,
I was actually on a missions trip with my church and we were headed to a Sugarcane village when it happened...all of the traffic was re-routed. Once we found out why, we were all shocked. The traffic is kinda bad there, people cut you off all the time and you have to be careful. My group I was with are keeping them and their families in our prayers.
i was at the airport in punta cana the night this happened. the tourists were forced on a bus by the airport workers and forced to find their own transportation and hotel for the night. on the way, they were in the accident because of the tropical storm. I was also forced onto a bus that night after my flight was canceled. i was with a group of people flying out of punta cana going to philly. it was insane.
I was in a bus about 10 cars behind this accident. I don't know any details about people being forced onto buses and getting their own transportation, but this accident did happen in the morning (not at night) and it was not raining when we got out of our bus (only a few minutes after the accident). No matter what the details, I hope everyone is keeping the injured and the families of deceased passengers in their prayers.

I was In Punta Cana this past week and they were showing this on local tv in the resort. I was checking out the channels on the tv around 6 p.m. and just happened to see the aftermath of this crash dead bodies peoples limbs lying in the road and they showed a mans head decapitated. I guess because Dominican Rep is a third world country and they just show this kind of stuff.

Not long ago though, last august 15th.
That's terrible! I'm Dominican and I feel very sad because bus drivers are always driving insanely in the highways and urban areas of the city.

This will obviously put Dom Rep in the sight of the tourists. It's a shame for our Caribbean.
