That was their standard colour. The colour scheme first started in the 70s, and they persisted with it until the idiotic state government sold the whole operation for a song. The only bit of the colour scheme he got wrong (but not possible because of the ladder deatail at each end) is a blue chevron with a white outline on each end of the body

The blue chevrons were part of the loco uniform when they were repainted.

Search for westrail in google and find the orange loco's that show the Westrail wording with the blue and white V on it. All loco's repainted in this scheme had them.

@nuggles58 Yes they were. Simply pointing out that this particualr HO model is a modified American one, that has ladder detailing at either end. If you painted over the ladder, or attempted to put the decals over it, it wouldn't look right. I'm well aware of the Westrail locomotive uniform, as I'm the son of a former Westrail employee. Although you seem to have done a good job of it in covering that. I only have 12 of these grain hoppers, 11 of which I detailed myself

Yes you are right. Its a lifelike SD7 (N scale not HO). N scale loco's for Western Australia are had to find, and most have to be scratchbuilt or kitbashed. These are a close model of the Westrail A Class loco's without getting into modifications. Sorry I got it wrong, I thought you were saying that there was no V chevron. I was going to scrape off the ladders, but decided not to. A straight repaint was good enough for this loco! I also agree with you about the idiotic selling off of Westrail!
