  • A terrific way to prevent breast cancer is to lose your bra. They restrict the natural action of the lymph nodes. If you must wear a bra, keep it loose and don't wear it anymore than you absolutely have too. Less than 12 hours a day, and NEVER sleep with one of the things on.

  • check out Dr. Mercola's Thermography which detects anything wrong in breasts or the full body without radiation by just reading the heat deflected by the body. The radiation from mammographies can help cancer cells to develop, per Dr. Mercola.

  • A mammagram's pressure opens safely sealed cancerous nodes' contents into bloodstream, as does a biopsy or surgery. Early detection's a scam: The only span increased is the time between detection & death, you still die on the same day, whether it's 5yrs before detection or 5hrs. (Unless of course, your treatment causes you to die SOONER.)

  • It can be very painful. they press you too flat more than is necessary. Some techs. have a heavy foot on the petal they step on to flatten your breasts. I think they love hurting you. If it was a mans scrotum they would dicover an no pain x-ray. A man could not stand the pain of pressing his testicles flat using your foot to press hard.

  • @sweetpea027 I am so TIRED of that whole "If a man had to put his balls in there" excuse. OK, I am a woman and I've had a mammogram before (and because of my age they had to take 4 views as opposed to 2 of each breast and they did it with a 3-D mammogram [which requires 11 exposures per image which means each time I was under compression 2 minutes as opposed to 20 seconds]) And yes It was uncomfortable (as are many other medical procedures), but if every woman got screened regularly

  • The annual Breast cancer death toll would be at most one fifth of what it is now. I have a very strong family History of Breast cancer and while many of my relatives had it only 1 died from it, but if you didn't know some of the genes responsible for Breast cancer also cause prostate cancer and recently my cousin died of just that, you know Y? because they couldn't detect it early enough. If there actually was such a screening program for men as effective as mammography he would still be here

  • aww Debbye, mine didn't hurt at all!!

plus you get a goodie bag if you get yours done in October :)

  • Ladies, please get your yearly mammograms, I just did yesterday :)

  • All well and good if you have health insurance to cover the $200-300 cost of a mammogram. Planned Parenthood now pushes mammograms to the point that I've stopped going there for family planning purposes.

  • October is BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH! Lots of opportunities for reduced cost or even free mammograms! GO GET THEM!
