Poor Karl! He's got burns in his hands and back, and he doesn't mind much because he loves what he does! I like his speed to twirl the flaming knives and his smile, so cute smile he's got...and he looks very young to be 40+ ... It's the performance I like the most from ALEGRIA! :D

Not really - fuel burns much more readily than skin, so as long as the fire stays where it's supposed to it isn't painful at all. As far as holding the wicks against his heels... I'll leave that one to the professionals!

its an alcohol fueled flame. They don't burn on the blue bottom areas of the flame. The yellow part hurts tho...

Actually since my last comment I've been practicing flame transfers with a 30/70 mix of Coleman fuel and citronella oil... Build up enough tolerance and you really can hold it for a little while! Alcohol gives a slightly cooler flame but I don't like it for spinning; so far none of the fuels I've seen/used have had a blue flame, as long as there's enough fuel to sustain a fire.

This continues to be one of my favorite firedancing routines!
