  • Wow I learned almost nothing from this video... oh wait I learned how to divide by 2. Not a complete loss.

  • @amosschorr93 yes...you are the smartest one on the page....and the only one who makes sense....do a vid bro!!.....lol ...thanks for the info.

  • i have an 25,20 scale is mine wrong it plays wonderfully

  • lol typical expert village video

  • I think if you like a higher action then you should go shorter scale length. I have 24.75 scale length dean and plays great for metal guitar.

  • Frank, Im building a guitar with a fender neck, but im using a wooden saddle and accoustic strings. this will work based on your information correct?

  • 28.5 is my thing

goes down to F with NO loss of articulation.

  • i've got somethin with a 25.5 inch neck..... ;)

  • @GarrettAndersonTV

    gj bro

  • My measuring tool is 12 inches ;)

  • Very interesting. But there are a lot of guys who play metal with Gibsons.

  • @dappawap yea this guy doesn't know a whole lot.... a shorter scale means better easier playability, which means less pressing for the fingers, which means faster playing, not to mention the shorter distance between frets (not a huge difference, but still noticeable.)

  • iv got a 25-12" jackson style neck and its my first guitars build and im onley 13 so could you please help me work out the distance between the neck and the brige plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz iv got two vidios about it so far so you can llok at the neck plz help me ps. the neck has 24 frets dont know if that changes thigs thank you

  • i got the same problem man -_-

  • @shamanlei78 iv fixed it now man you need help with yours?

  • thats in maryland xD

  • I think it was Gibson who came out with the first 24 fret neck for Tony Iomi (Black Sabbath). Maybe they can help.

  • I just measured my 24 fret guitar: 25 1/2 -3/4" (the saddles are adjustable so this is not 100 %)

  • by the way it's an old Harmony guitar neck

  • OK, I am making my own guitar and the cut out I did was a les Paul style although I could not find a gibson or epiphone neck it was a fender style neck I measured from the nut to the first fret of the 12th fret and it was 12" so that will be my center line up on my bridge or do I measure to the next fret that is 12 3/4 and lay out the bridge from that measurement? I have 22 frets on this neck I am lost here and need help with this one

  • why dont they mention the 27 in scale? the baritone? thats what i want.

  • @tormented0011 because he is still somewhere in 1980.

    " heavy metal" fucking hell.

    some decent basic info, nevertheless.

  • i have a floyd rose nut, where do i start measuring from, the front of the nut or the rear of the nut

  • where u see the string connecting to the nut.

  • ummm how about the 24 fret guitars?

  • you still measure it the same...

  • prs

  • so how come in some luthier websites they say a guitar scale is from nut to the most forwarding screw of the bridge or basically where the bridge starts, is that wrong?

  • The scale length is the length of the speaking string. That is the length of the string that vibrates between the nut and bridge saddle.

  • the 25

  • how about building THE GUITAR?

the classical guitar as it is called by gringos

  • thank u again im going to build a guitar now even though im like 14 =P with my grampa though im no that crazy lol
