yeah now that you mention it, I didnt like how fake some of it looked, but how they represented New York I thought was really well done, it definitely set the mood down for post apocalyptica.
I couldn't disagree more. This movie was trash. 2 minutes in, I was bored. 5 minutes in, I was pissed.
It fails to surpass even the meager attempt at an adaption of The Omega Man and is lightyears behind Vincent Price and The Last Man on Earth.
Not to mention it's an insult to the book it's named after in every way, shape, and form. It's like Akiva Goldsman said, "Hm, I have to adapt this book so I'm just going to change every single thing about it."
Agreed that using constant CG for the infected really detracted from their later effectiveness. Fine if they used CG for some of their more elaborate acrobatics and whatnot, but it was completely unnecessary to have them totally CG all the time. Also loved Will Smith in this, and found it refreshing to see him do some real acting for a change. Overall, great story, with some truly eerie, effective and depressing set pieces.
I didn't mind the ending too much, certainly better than the ridiculously happy and perfect alternate ending. Though yes, aspects of it were something of a cop out. Overall an entertaining and unexpectedly moving film. Really underrated, and not given the credit it deserves imo. I think too many people fault this movie for not being what they thought it was. Not the movie's fault. It's NOT a zombie movie, folks! If you're seeing it expecting a zombie flick, you're watching the wrong movie!
that part with Will Smith driving around a deserted New York wasn't all CGI. certain parts of new york like around time square, obviously was mostly done with CGI, however the area around the video stroe where he walked in, and the area where he was driving his car to chase those deers or whatever they were, was a large area of new york city that they had blocked off, and they brought in grass and such that they put all over the place too make it look as though no one had been around there.
One of my favorites...totally agree with your review on all points.

I did not like I Am Legend at all. It did have some good parts though. My favorite adaptation of the book is The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price.
Great review man.

I really don't think that the film is THAT bad, like i said in the review, despite all it's flaws it remains an enjoyable flick nonetheless!

I can see how people can like it but I could barely watch the last 20 minutes because of the crappy
"I AM THE LAST MAN ON EARTH! NO ONE ELSE IS OUT THERE! DUR!!" But if not for that mentality of the movie, I may have liked. But this is my opinion.
