If you lived in a suburban area your whole life you don't want to go anywhere near the city. I go through those neighborhoods on a bus and see how decrepit it is but thats it. My relatives lived in the Clark-Fulton area. They don't even recognize the house now.

honestly. go to a Cleveland Cavaliers NBA game. You have to! Go to West 6th street on a friday or saturday night. hitup Christys Cabaret strip club too.

I would start your tour at Hopkins International Airport. Board any flight out of town to get a great view of downtown Cleveland from several thousand feet. You won't be able to smell it from that far up, and a secondary benefit is that you'll land somewhere else.
