they take advantage off it .lucky them

  • it is mark bennett on 37secs. Think it is fowler(not sure?)Great to see dougie winning.

  • Who is the player at 0.35 and is that Mark Bennett at 0.37?

  • yes i'm sure it is mark bennett at 37secs now the other guy this is making me think it could be danny fowler??

  • Could it be Barry West? (I have no idea what he looks like) did TV stages of 88 UK Championship start at last 16? If so it's either Fowler or West, can't be Roe? Thanks for the reply!

  • yes one of them but almost sure it is fowler by the way i'm just in the middle of uploading some more compilations so watch this space!!!!!

  • Nice one!

  • Oops sorry about that - didn't think my comments were being posted! So, re-wrote & posted again... sorry - I blame my computer!

  • Doug Mountjoy was a hero of mine throughout the 80s. I started following his results from 1978 onwards via the Daily Telegraph (the days before the internet). He will always be my favourite player.

  • I was (and am) a big fan of Doug Mountjoy. I used to follow all of his reults via the Daily Telegraph (the days before internet).

    A truly great player.

  • I've always been a big Doug Mountjoy fan. I used to follow his results in the newspaper the next day (before internet). I followed him from about 1978-ish. At that time I also liked Wilson & Stevens (plus 'Steady Eddie'). Didn't have much time for Graham Miles or David Taylor though.

I found a website for Mountjoy via Welsh snooker but I haven't been able to find it again.

  • OK, that's nice,no problem

  • Yes, I couldn't agree more with both of you. Snooker was at its prime in the 80s and the 3 players who contributed most were Ray Reardon, Alex Higgins and John Spencer. But all the players we see here are fantastic characters- Virgo, Mountjoi, Davis, Parrott, Taylor even Hendry. I think today's game lacks the characters of 70s, 80s or early 90s. Anyway, a great video!!!

  • Doug Mountjoy; what a snooker player. One of the few to win back to back ranking titles (& that's after he'd dropped down the rankings).

All the great characters... Doug, Cliff Wilson, Bill Werbeniuk, Kirk Stevens, Eddie Charlton, the great Fred Davis - so many in the 80s. Thses are the guys (along with the BBC & Pot Black) who made snooker what it is today in the UK.

  • I totally agree with you i liked doug very much snooker had alot of characters them days not today pity wilson, werbeniuk, charlton, and obviously fred davis have all passed away i've got mountjoy winning against hendry 16-12 but i will need to cut to put on here!

    thanks for you comment dave

  • By the way, you said you have the 1988 UK Final. Do you have the 1990 UK Final between Hendry and Davis?

  • sorry i don't have that i'm afraid i was a big fan of doug mountjoy so that's why i have that clip and also the mercetile credit final with doug mountjoy winning that one!
