actually, all of you are kind of taking this non-musician approach to understanding what is going on here. Music, to a musician, is a way to express whatever it is you are feeling or going through. Just because you did not write a worship song does not mean that you are going against the bible. Forgive me if I am misunderstanding your take. You have to remember that just because a christian does not write a song about Jesus, does not mean really anything other then they felt like writing a song.
The only thing that matters in weighing the fruit that they bare is the message in their lyrics. If I write a song about my x-grilfriend because I was emotionally driven to do so, then that is just that. The fact that I wrote that song, was in the glory of God because I utilized my talent and did not waste it. As a christian, however, I would not preach or send a message contrary to the teachings of Christ. I write songs all the time that make me worship God! God gave me the groove!

Besides, who's to say that they aren't using this opportunity to witness to other rappers or people backstage that we don't know about? Not every worship song explicitly says God's name in the words anyway (example: Beautiful One), but we know who we're singing it to. What's important is that we're singing the words of praise to God.

I didn't take the non-musician route, but i agree with you. i think if God gave you talent and you use it to benefit his kingdom then you are giving him praise. Steelerfan2004, you don't save people by singing to Christians. All genre's under the Christian umbrella serve a purpose. They may not sing directly about Jesus but they don't sing about sex and drugs. Maybe a non-Christian gets hooked on their songs decides to go to one of their concerts and while there they here grits give their testimony, that's a seed planted that wouldn't have without Grits.

That was my daughter commenting under my name. All I can say is when I first got saved I used to judge christian singers too. Cause it was so new to me and I didn't want to be deceived. But since then God has shown me different. Tupac didn't know God whereas Grits do. All you have to do is read the lyrics to this song and you will eventually see the truth of the Holy Spirit in it. I've been a Christian for over 20 years. I don't like organized religion as i think it kills the free will that God gave us. I have a personal walk with Christ and that's all i need. If you listen to Grits you'll see that they praise the Lord with instruments and if you like their style they are making a joyful song to him. What kind of retarded way of conversion is that? I was in the ministry trying to become a youth pastor, years ago, before realizing a few things about christianity, and religion as a whole.
Try reading up on the prophecies of others and you'll see the bible says the same thing that much older religions have said. Including the story of Jesus.
Good. Stay strong for God; Jesus said He's the only way to the Father. There may be a lot of other religions saying the same stuff, but the only way to Heaven is through Christ, who was the only one willing to die such a gruesome and shameful death for our sorry selves--and then deal with Hell--LITERALLY--to gain our tickets into Heaven in the first place. No other religion ever produced someone willing to go through that much for all mankind put together.

i'm not going against the bible, your failure to understand the English language is what is our hold up. The meaning of unto from Websters: 1. To 2. until; till. Grits is signing UNTO the Lord like the bible says. It's really not that complicated. If i have a conversation about football with God, then i am having a conversation UNTO God about football. The problem isn't with the scripture it's with you and your failure to think outside of what you've been taught. actually, all of you are kind of taking this non-musician approach to understanding what is going on here. Music, to a musician, is a way to express whatever it is you are feeling or going through. Just because you did not write a worship song does not mean that you are going against the bible. Forgive me if I am misunderstanding your take. You have to remember that just because a christian does not write a song about Jesus, does not mean really anything other then they felt like writing a song.

The only thing that matters in weighing the fruit that they bare is the message in their lyrics. If I write a song about my x-grilfriend because I was emotionally driven to do so, then that is just that. The fact that I wrote that song, was in the glory of God because I utilized my talent and did not waste it. As a christian, however, I would not preach or send a message contrary to the teachings of Christ. I write songs all the time that make me worship God! God gave me the groove!

@steelerfan2004 This has to be one of the most ridiculous arguments I've ever heard. Grits is reaching a crowd that other artists who write worship songs can't. Besides, who's to say that they aren't using this opportunity to witness to other rappers or people backstage that we don't know about? Not every worship song explicitly says God's name in the words anyway (example: Beautiful One), but we know who we're singing it to. What's important is that we're singing the words of praise to God.

Steelerfan2004, you don't save people by singing to Christians. All genre's under the Christian umbrella serve a purpose. They may not sing directly about Jesus but they don't sing about sex and drugs. Maybe a non-Christian gets hooked on their songs decides to go to one of their concerts and while there they here grits give their testimony, that's a seed planted that wouldn't have without Grits.

That was my daughter commenting under my name. All I can say is when I first got saved I used to judge christian singers too. Cause it was so new to me and I didn't want to be deceived. But since then God has shown me different. Tupac didn't know God whereas Grits do. All you have to do is read the lyrics to this song and you will eventually see the truth of the Holy Spirit in it. I've been a Christian for over 20 years. I don't like organized religion as i think it kills the free will that God gave us. I have a personal walk with Christ and that's all i need. If you listen to Grits you'll see that they praise the Lord with instruments and if you like their style they are making a joyful song to him. Try reading up on the prophecies of others and you'll see the bible says the same thing that much older religions have said. Including the story of Jesus.
