Irreversible? Leaving Las Vegas? The Virgin Spring? Last Tango in Paris (though that one is borderline, not everyone considers it to be rape)? Anyway, those are all high quality films that have rape scenes. Those aren't trash flicks at all.

I made a mistake in my previous removed comment. The bad guys were as drunken in the original as in this lame remake with a bunch of idiots for sorry actors (like Skarsgard). James Mardsen is only good for wearing tights like he did in Disney's Enchanted. I have thought in buying the Blu-Ray of this lame remake entirely so I can make fun of it by editing scenes of Disney's Enchanted into it. I saw the original again yesterday and it gave me nightmares. No wonder it was banned.

@rjdrays288--You tell 'em. The first time I saw the 1971 version, I found that scene equally as disturbing just the same. Now, in the 2011 version, it's a gazillion times worse (especially with that SWEDISH FUCK SKARSGARD and the wannabe American he really is). I was also amazed how, just like in the original, a record player was used during the home invasion scene. However, a 7" 45 RPM record was used in this one, and a 12" 33.33 RPM record was used in the better 1971 version.

Smart move. I saw the original 1971 version again last night after years (from the VHS tape I have of it) and it gave me nightmares. Whoever told you the two are the same was right. It's the same screenplay. The bad guys in the 2011 version are as crazy and drunken as in the 1971 version. At least they picked better actors for the original. I think I like Susan George than the revolting dumb blonde named Kate Bosworth. The remake accurately portrays Southern life better than words can express.

saw this movie and loved it. The trailer doesn`t give away much so if you haven`t seen it you`ll be surprised. This trailer just shows the principal characters. I wish they had shown a little more of the back story between Amy and Charlie though. A quick flashback or something. I thought the actors and the director did a good job. Of course I saw it because of Alex and as always his acting was topnotch. It was a treat to see him in a major role other than True Blood. Alex rules!

I like watching remakes. Not all the time just certain ones. It makes want to go out and see the originals if I never saw them and make my deicsion on which was better. 9 times out of 10 the remake of an original movie isnt better its just different but its awesome to watch like The Mechanic and Pelham 123. The only remake I can say was better then the original or better yet I enjoyed more then the original is True Grit.
