First of all in this game Duke was a 6th Seed which was complete b.s. at least 9th/12th seed if it was any other team/conference. I was at a restaurant in Tucson when this game unfolded, I never seen a restaurant get so excited over a team losing. There student section on home games, and if you fail to realize they practically get every call (watch the 2001 Championship and tell me different) Duke fans are so naive to realizing that nobody likes them.
@SFFOOL76 Coach K is the best coach still coaching. He will beat Bob Knight's record next year. It is his job to whine at his players. To motivate them, to get them to do their job. For that, you hate him? And what's wrong with the people at the home Duke games? That's why we're called the Cameron Crazies. We're proud to be Duke fans and love Duke, and are not scared to show that. I saw the 2001 game and after the reviews, a lot of the calls made sense.

It's amazing to watch this and feel the energy from this clip! I never saw this game 4 years ago, but I can see some major similarities to this year's team!! as i see, Colonial Athletic Association is the only conference with 6 teams with 20 or more wins, only Big East got more teams with better record, I believe ACC is the second best Conference in the country, so they deserve to have 3 teams into the BIG DANCE, anyway I would like to see more of those teams in the National Tourney, lol I remember George Masons run into the Final 4, and VCU did that to Duke, I say this ACC teams are dangerous

Ummmm Arizona can, since 1985 they have made the tournament. Also it was the 2001-2002 Season when UNC was flat out awful. Also Duke had a losing record 1994-95, they're 1st rd exit was in 1996 tourney against E. Michigan. Plus Coach K at a point was in so many commercials Peyton Manning thought it was too much. Plus they get a fair amount of favorable calls by the refs!

This VCU alumn was in the People's Republic of California on an Army National Guard activation wearing my gear and talking shit to some rich white Duke grads in a sports bar. The look on their faces was priceless...like their favorite guppy just died. Woohoo!

lol whoever it was guarding maynor on that last shot did a terrible job of trying to cover maynor i mean you know the guy is so inept at taking and making the big shot and you play lackadaisical D on him even then why not take the ball out of his hands in the first place? then again pressure plus the fact that they are technically freshmen it doesn't really take a college player to know you don't want the ball in his hands taking the last shot. if he passes and another scores you live with that

disclamer: go ahead and give me a thumbs down beside this comment, it really doesnt mean anything. now that that is out of the way, i dont see why so many people make such a huge deal out of this. yeah it was unexpected, but the whole team was freshman just about. it was the first time duke had lost in the first round in who knows how long. in 2001 unc had a losing season. did they even make the NIT? come on, how many schools can say they have been in the tournament that many years in a row.

okay. dont talk. at all. i cant wait until coach k leaves 10 years from now and retires and dook has so much fun going through 3 coaches before they find one that does anything for the team. dean smith left, we tried to find a good coach and it took a couple to get to where we are now. it was a transition period. the whole how many tournaments in row a team makes argument is stupid because you cant expect a team to make it during a transition period. i mean look at indiana today!

just like duke went through a transition period after losing redick williams and the rest of our fantastic team. yet every ignorant unc fan out there is hating on duke for losing this very game on here. we didnt even have a single senior on this team. so, they talk about duke losing here but they dont even know they had a losing season. theres always excuses, but they dont care about duke's excuse for this. e.g "who the fuck is jj redick" and "haha stupid dookies". thus the reason for my comment

i know paulus did, but im not so sure about mcroberts. he was a dissapointment. hes really the reason we lost this game, he was really unconditioned. no one could take his place so he got tired in the last few minutes of the game. and he went pro even though no one wanted him. and they made him drop body fat and get conditioned and hes gotten alot better. he could have done all that at duke and actually gotten somewhere in the nba. hes such an idiot.

Ummmm Arizona can, since 1985 they have made the tournament. Also it was the 2001-2002 Season when UNC was flat out awful. Also Duke had a losing record 1994-95, they're 1st rd exit was in 1996 tourney against E. Michigan. I think honestly why people can't stand Duke is this persona of being clean cut, the rich, the spoiled and the entitled. Plus Coach K at a point was in so many commercials Peyton Manning thought it was too much. Plus they get a fair amount of favorable calls by the refs!

yeah, unc was bad for like three seasons in a row though. and yeah that was the worst team coach k has probably ever had. and thats it, a lot of people dont like duke because they have white kids on their team. which is stupid. its a sport for everyone, since when did having "g status" become important in basketball. coach k recruits on who can form a good team that really like each other, so you get kids that look "rich". and recently unc has been getting every single call. people need to chill

Coack K keeps recruiting the same type of player. He'll get one athlete and then surround him by three or four soft tall white guys. K's recruiting has went to shit the past few years. That is why you're getting bounced early the past 5 years.

i guess thats why coach k is trying to land john wall right now? the most athletic and most talented point gaurd of his class? and for the class of 2010 he has tyler thornton, andre dawkins- who is athletic- and is trying to get harrison barnes-who is a beast. plus he recruited elliot williams last year, and henderson of course is one of the most athletic players to ever come to duke, which i assume is who you were talking about. coach k tries to get athletes but hey, cant get them all.

This VCU alumn was in the People's Republic of California on an Army National Guard activation wearing my gear and talking shit to some rich white Duke grads in a sports bar. The look on their faces was priceless...like their favorite guppy just died. Woohoo!

only one in my pool to get this right. I kept telling everyone, "Watch out for VCU. They will beat Duke because they are so fast tempoed." The next day at school, I wore my VCU hat (that I got 2 months before) and wore it with pride and diginity that I picked a great game.

as a unc fan and be from richmond area i loved that game i knew after the caa tournment that year and see who duke was in febuary and the acc tournment when I saw that bracket i knew then vcu could do it and say that was an upset was wrong vcu had a great team that year to me that was no upset and the richmond paper the next day front page maynor sinks duke that was a great headline I always pull for my tarheels but as far as mid majors go i pull for my home team vcu and i hate duke.
