Forget about impact. Everyone knows not to rip apart an area. It is better to get involved with nature and be a part of it than to worry about impact. Just have fun. Be reasonable. Nature will take the space back after you leave.

A small clearnign is cool. It allows a vantage point and perspective. Indians cleared areas. Oddly they trashed a lot of areas dispite historys ramanticism. Nature was ok afterwards .

You guys are just stupid!! Clearly this isn't survive in the wild for days or months, like bushcraft. If you think this guy sucks then why did you watch? Camping and Backpacking is the title, obviously meaning an entry level type education on the subject. Timberline or taut-line, who cares, this is still good basic knowledge.
