  • Lovely, crystal clear and lovingly played, everyone put their soul into this version, well done. Colline

  • too fast

  • one day i will play this on violin... and even jesus will be jealous.

  • @ifrozetodeath

    .... :-)

  • @PeriodinstrumentfaN Horrible Planning of a Holiday/Business Travel: God (so it's said) came to Earth, but didn't stay long enough to witness baroque Music ^^

  • @ifrozetodeath It's actually not that difficult to play! I used to be in a chamber orchestra and this was one of our best pieces!

  • @ifrozetodeath Yep, I'm gonna get it down on the guitar, too. I've been wanting to play this piece for ages but could never find a good version for solo guitar. It's a fantastic piece, very grandiose and baroque and wonderful.

  • @ifrozetodeath yeah! me too :)

  • My friend played this at her orchestra. I fell in love with it the moment i heard it ^^

  • Oh, I totally love this... When I heard it on "Pride and Prejudice" I wanted to die xD I loved that version... Too bad music nowadays is not as good as it was...

  • Love this version! It is Light and Staccato, it really brings out emotion like this song should, not like the others that remind of my obese teacher trying to fit through the door. :)

  • Thankyou for this. Heard it on the radio arranged for a b***** xylophone which was awful and you have provided the antidote.

  • this music gives me joy

  • this music gives me joy

  • The style of the painting doesn't look baroque. More like Renaissance. But AWSOME SONG O:

  • @SunBeamsan

    it's a Rembrandt ^-^

  • @PeriodinstrumentfaN 14th to the 17th century, roughly at the same time they overlapped. I see now

  • @PeriodinstrumentfaN Rembrandt was baroque wasn't he?

  • @SunBeamsan agreed...

  • @SunBeamsan As an addition to PeriodinstrumentfaN: The painting could not be of renaissance. Do you see the guy playing "viole" (from the same family as violoncelle-cello)? This is a baroque instrument.

  • @SunBeamsan The music doesn't sound baroque, either. It's too crisp.

  • Marvellous.

  • this is awesome...

I'm gonna play this tomorrow, because there's our big orchestra concert at school...

but we play it much slower...

    I like it :)

  • look for the other video by the Purcell Quartet... they play equally well with the smaller force of 2 violins, viola, gamba and harpsichord... ^_^

    nice pic !!! ahahaha :)

  • @FabelF I d like it slower. I enjoy the melody when I listen to it in a slower version. That's why I like the "Postcard to Henry Purcell" by Dario Marianelli.

  • best interpretation i've heard, I like that slightly faster tempo, that baroque ring to the instruments

    beautiful

  • who's the conductor??

  • hello !!! the conductor is Andrew Parrott ...please click on "More Info" for other details .... :)

  • Please send me a link to violin music sheet (with piano accomplimant optional) to me! i need it for my exam and i still can't find this score :(

  • OMG the quality.

  • what about the quality owl975 ? :-/

  • its very nice. the first time I heard it in HQ I was like "OMG"

  • ic :)

  • Nice chamber music touch, probably the way Purcell intended it and heard it himself during his days

does not matter how you play this, it is always good

Tiesto should make a house version!

  • Love it, so beautiful....

  • Nice little tune

  • question, is this piece just for 2 or 4 Violins? I want to play it with two violins, is it complete then?

    thanx!

  • i haven't seen the complete score but there's a free transcription for harpsichord somewhere on the internet...

i'm sure it can be played with two violins... :-)

  • Thanks for replying!

  • io la suonerò con il quartetto... fala a questa velocità è molto complicato

  • hmm...in the version i have heard before there is a harpsichord as well. Do you know whether the original included the harpsichord or not?

  • The version for harpsichord may have been a transcription. This was originally a "Program Music."

It was customary during the Baroque era for the Basso Continuo to include a harpsichord and other continuo instruments. :>

  • the Harpsichord probly was, i could hear that it can match, and plus in the Baroque era and old instument like the Harpsichord was used in most fast songs

  • Wonderfull music, thank you for this

  • This is beautifull.I've been searching for this long time.Thank you.

  • Thank you so much for the music you have uploaded!

  • you're welcome !!! :> ... you might want to try HARMONICO101 's channel.... :>

  • Ah! Period instruments, excellent!

  • thanks for the the advice.

I've also noticed that in some other videos there already is an option to watch it in high quality/standard. Is there a way for me to include that option on my videos ?
