  • i am from Argentina, and I love Oliver and his songs. Music is so beatifull but the letters of many songs are dramatics, they tell stories about violence and crimes in his country

  • Just how African music should be.

  • A part of the lyrics: Call the mother of my children I am hurt I was injured while training the ox Call the mother of my children I am hurt I was injured while training the ox I thought this young ox would be like its elders And yet it ignored its elders' (good examples) I used to admire it as it fed in the pastures Thinking that in future we would harness it Hoping that it will do the ploughing for us Everything has gone upside down The young oxen has kicked me... Google it.

  • i love music african iam brazilian very culture

  • I'm Arabic and I loooove this type of music! Hello from Iraq :-)

  • Shona and swahili are bantu and share a common ancestary infact kenya is actually were the ppl who were to become the shona came from before there movement south so yee the languages are actually quite similar

  • are you saying shona people cme frm kenya or wat, i dont understand wt u sayin. I knw pple frm kenya n i cnt even understand wat dey r sayin.

  • actually it is true The ancestors of the shonas did come from kenya and migrated south about centuries ago during the bantu expansion.however dat doesnt mean you can u can understand kenyan languages but there lanuages are indeed similar almost like portugese and spanish

  • @macvim most of the words like in this song are so similar to either swahili or kikuyu which are both bantu languages. the similar words are thus: wakuru (elders) in kikuyu, Ng'ombe (cow), sumbua (disturb), funza (teach) in swahili. It depends on how easy you can learn languages. Also, we Kenyans don't speak all Swahili or Kikuyu full time, we have over 50 languages and our slung reigns supreme!

  • Ng'ombe is mombe in shona , i didnt really get some of the parts u said bt thnx anwyz....

  • @macvim ...am kikuyu ng'ombe is cow...so is in swahili....the bantu speak alike.

  • @korifs si kila mtu alisoma 844 story za migration na origin of bantus.

  • you are right. i speak a few african languages , tumbuka , shona ,ndebele, zulu and swahili

  • how is it an allegory about Mugabe? I think Mugabe is awesome, a real African!

  • Apa makarova vaMtukudzi

  • my mom used to tell me ndakuvara and i would always run and hide....but i say it to her as a joke!! its fun

  • Hermosa Musica, saludos desde Costa Rica

Beautifull Music, greetings from Costa Rica (TIKIZIA)

  • After I heard this song, for the first time and after, I just want to make an altar to Oliver and workship him. Just incredible. One of my favorites of all time of all genres of music. Best regards from Guadalajara, Mexico.

  • yeah i can teach you

  • this song is awesome

  • i speak shona and cow is mombe ,i do agree plenty of Swahili and Shona words sound similar

  • zambia loves you oliver....keep the tunes jamming!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love me some Oliver!!!! (^_ ^)

  • Love this song!!! Thank you so much! Greetings from Russia!

  • Love it.

  • This is my favorite from Putumayo world music. My sister turned me on to this.

  • love this love just love

  • Interesting guitar. Wonder who made it...

  • The guitars are always locally made in Africa cause it's a traditional instrument and many tribes in Africa have different families that make different musical instruments. This sounds alot different from Banjo.

  • Sounds different from banjo? I would hope so!

I believe a person who plays a musical instrument should build one (OK, if you play a piano, I'll let you off the hook). I'm building a few guitars right now that look like Martin Backpackers. (Check out the videos on Youtube under "Martin Backpacker"). One of the guitars in Tuku's video "Hear Me Lord" has a sound hole all the way up in the left corner!

I'm not sure how traditional they are for Zim.

  • me i did

  • You made the guitar? Cool. How wide is the neck at the nut? What kind of radius did you put on the fingerboard? I have dozens of questions.

  • It's just an average travel guitar but it does look very cool doesn't it? Beautiful song! Heard it on Link tv and just had to find out more about this artist.

  • This is the best exercise song, Oliver M has helped me lose 20 pounds. Love his music

  • old skl; this i stil remember in harare blastin it through ma dads bmw

  • you gotta love the song. heyi ko danzi racho

  • Que buena música, recién ahora descubro a Oliver, y suena muy bien.

    Saludos a todos desde Argentína!!!!

  • Old white guys like good music too, and this is good.

  • lol wat is an oldman doin on youtube

  • Greetings from the states! Great song, saw this video on link tv. Thanks for posting it.

  • he got the touch of god, master!

  • Genius

  • Great music, great video, great message!

    What more do you want?

  • Olive, you are my man! come to Istanbul!

  • wt the meanin behind the song? does any1 kno? pliz tell me. im so curious

  • I think it is talking about a parent who raised his son to be something in life. The son then grows up and goes his own way, ignoring his parents' teaching. So the father here is talking about his hurt.

  • I imagine that in Zimbabwe it' s probably necessary to speak allegorically. This song could be construed as a criticism of Mugabe, or it could just be a simple song about an ox or my view about disillusion with loved ones (which covers both the above!)

  • ohh i luv u response so so tru:)

  • I am zambian but I've always loved tuku music!!this guy is a ledgend in africa!!!

  • Gotta be one of the most beautiful pieces I've heard in many years!!

  • Thanks for posting this with subtitles. This has been my favourite for a long time, but not knowing the lingo, I obviously didn't understand a word. Often when you get to know the lyrical content of a song it's a bit of an anti-climax. Not so with this song. I think the lyrics are incredibly moving.

  • Wo0ow

    May God Bless Tuku.

It takes a special blessed and talented guy like Tuku to bless yah with a song about oxes lo0l.

    God Bless yah man...Like yo0h blessed me...(Cheese I kno0w)

  • listening to music like this reminds me tht i am something and should be proud to be zimbabwean cuz a lot of pple mke me doubt myself and beliefs thanks for reminder tuku

  • tino penga takan zwa

    rubo ra oliver (ndakuvara)

    inini ndakuvara niri mu zimbi

  • One of the greatest living musicians...

  • This is simply fantastic!!! Reminds me so much of Zim.

  • Our only solace to our great sufferings and tears in our eyes. Tears of zimbabweans with no decent meals due to sanctions, corruptions, tears of zimbabweans working long hours in the back of beyond with no hope and future, tears of Zimbabweans struggling 4 a living abroad in tortous environment paid less, but asked to work more. Time has come for us Zimbabweans to unite and work for the good of our country. We cannot continue to be away from our heritage and belonging.
