Use pandora battery and Magic Stick, then downgrade your psp. this two requirements just search them of the internet on how to do it.. this is your only option so you will not cost too much or you will not, downgrade it to 3.71. then after updating to 3.71 try if the menu already shows and upgrade one by one.. NOT DIRECTLY, ex 3.71 update to 4.00 to 5.XX .. step by step. and if this aint work, you should by a new one. hope it helps. and sorry for my bad english. :)

Ya myns the same thing, i try the thing, but my screen is red, and it will show up the time, and date, and how much battery power is left, but shuts off automatically after 10 seconds, i made a video about it, if you guys could help me out, that would be Greatly Apreciated!!! THX

i turned it off and turned off wifi opened the disk trey and took out the memory stick and turned it back im not if itll work all da time i think i was jus lucky but let me kno if it works

I guess that you don't have an CFW. Thats why you can't enter recovery mode, ask some of your friends if they have an PSP wtth an custom firmware and ask them if they can install pandora for you
