It can't really measure up to movies like 'Pulp Fiction', 'Fight Club' or 'A Clockwork Orange' but in it's own way it's a masterpiece and a movie you can see several times and still get chilled to the bones.

In the following year, A bigger force of some 45,000 Ottomans invaded Peloponesus trying to drown the rebels in their blood. Some 8,000 rebels stopped them and butchered them at Dervenakia. Out of the 45,000 Ottomans more than 35,000 were slaughtered on spot and not more than 8,000 managed to drag their feet out to the north escaping as further as they could.
Ottomans had simply forgotten that they could not battle with Greeks unless Greeks were either unarmed or suffering internal treason.
.. all pale in front of the May 8, 1821 battle of the Hani of Gravia where 117 men by Oddyseas Androutsos (i.e.all 118 men) remained to defend... a road inn against an oncoming Ottoman army of 8,000 infantry and 1,000 cavalry plus 1,000 canons coming with a day difference.
Contrary to Thermopylae, the Gravia Inn was not a narrow passage, it was rjut a walled road inn. Even more amazingly rebels did not stay out of need (being encircled) but WILLINGLY out of their sheer will to fight the enemy!
Ottoman general Omer Brioni could not believe the crazyness and asked them to capitulate but Oddyseas shot the Turkish envoy (a bektashi imam) when he called Greeks infidel dogs. So Omer ordered the attack to capture the inn : 8,000 Ottomans against 118 Greeks.
Result?
400 Ottomans were massacred on spot
Other 800 hundred were retired being gravely wound (half of them died in next days)
6 Greeks died. Greeks escaped in the night due to the fact that Ottomans had been busy licking their wounds.
300 Spartans (+700 Thespians, not to forget), is not the only time Greeks remained to defend against improbable numbers. 300 movie is awesome. its just the adaptation from frank millers graphic novel. the characters of xerxes, ephialtes and everyone in the movie 300 were based on the novel.in all neutrality frank miller might not have had ny idea about persian history. xerxes was portrayed as a tyrant just on the fact that he wanted to constantly and greedily expand his empire. the greeks were portrayed as heroes for their bravery for facing such a big empire in such puny numbers..

The part of this movie that I don't get is the giant mutated guy and the giant rhinos. Weren't Spartans suppose to wear chest armour? Well even though it was a bit confusing for me, this movie still kicks ass. 10/10

The spartans may not have had complete strength in numbers, but the people they were short of was made up for in strength.
They had a large bronze chest plate, helmet, greaves, bracers, leggings, and back plates.

I agree with your view of spartan concepts. I wonder if you have heard of this story: A group of spartans were stranded on an island, after a battle with athens. Their slaves decided to rescue them in a boat. After, the spartans thanked them, but asked the leaders to step forward. They did, and were promptly executed because these were the thinkers. dude, ftnvx8, if u wanted a "legit" movie go see a girl movie cause u sound like a pussy. And the big orc like guys were just for effect. The battle was at Thermopalyae btw. Great movie tho. And sparta stood for liberty justice and freedom since they were the only city/state to have women that were just as free as men and they were a republic so thats the other 2.

Obviously you do not have anything to counter me with. If you do please cite your sources. Spartans were known to be a vicious society (great soldiers), but to state that they believed in the concepts of justice, liberty, and freedom is to ignore history. To say that were not a waring nation, not one of tyranny is to overlook all the bloody wars they brought to their part of the world. Tell me what you know about Greek history and prove me wrong!

I agree with your view of spartan concepts. I wonder if you have heard of this story: A group of spartans were stranded on an island, after a battle with athens. Their slaves decided to rescue them in a boat. After, the spartans thanked them, but asked the leaders to step forward. They did, and were promptly executed because these were the thinkers. The potential free thinkers and rebels.

Half fantasy? the movie is nearly completley legit, save a few extra things to make it seem more amazing,
there were originally in the real battle, 1300 greeks, but then the spartan sent away the 100 athenian soldiers, and left them with 300.
there probably not going to put the atheninian soilders in,

Seriously? It is no where near being legit. Ignoring other more glaring discrepancies, since when did Sparta stand for "liberty, justice, freedom?" No offense, the movie was as far from reality as the directors could take it.
