What i did is take a small branch from a tree then painted my whole recon Dark brown then i put the branch over my recon then used black spray paint i used it while playing with my friends in the woods...

No, do not sand! Only need to sand if you screw up & paint the joints, otherwise you will not be able to remove the parts (stock, scope, etc)
