  • King Curtis was a great inspiration and very good friend to Duane Allman. Duane Allman spoke movingly at King Curtis's funeral, and even featured snippets of this song in some of the Allman Brothers song. Sadly, a few months after King's death, Duane himself was killed in a motorcycle accident in Macon, GA.

  • One of my favorites.

  • The best of the best! Long live the King!

  • A classic soul ballad played by one of the greats, King Curtis. He was in my mind the father of the soul saxophone

  • was? don't tell me he's dead!

  • He was carrying an air conditioner towards his home when he saw two junkies sitting on the steps right outside of his home. They got into an argument and then a fistfight. One of the junkies stabbed him in the chest. He was taken to the hospital where he died an hour later.

  • I first heard this song on WOGL Radio here in Philadelphia back in 1988. It's a very nice and soulful song.

I know that King Curtis passed away exactly 40 years ago last month. He was stabbed to death in his Manhattan apartment building.

  • R.I.P. Mr Cornell Dupree. Play on..

  • And, this week Cornell Dupree died. He played guitar on this.

  • Stabbed to death in Manhattan in '71. Left us a piece of heaven.

  • The King of the Soul Saxophone shows once more his virtuosity and skill. Damn this brother was bad.

  • Listending to this use to put me in a Saxophone trance! Loved this song so much!

  • King Curtis, the King of Soul Saxophone. Only the King could blow that saxophone and put all his heart and soul into it. He will always be missed and never forgotten. RIP, King Curtis, often imitated, but never, never can anyone take your place.

  • My eyes filled listening to this. Why did that happen? The tune is sweet, but sad.
