I think your portrayal of us "American tomboys" is a bit askew.

American tomboys are not butch. There’s a big difference between the two. Butch women (those who are purposely accentuate their large frames and dress like guys) are typically lesbians; they’re large and butch for a reason. But our tomboys are just like Asian tomboys. There’s a style to it. They can be either homosexual, bi, or straight. Just don't want anyone to think that all American tomboys are butch (cause I'm sure not).

Tomboy, butch, femme, masculine, feminine etc are gender expressions, like the way you dress, your style, your natural body language, how you talk. Sexuality is who or what you're attracted to and it's not a choice. The way you dress has no impact on who you're attracted to, they are not related.
