Thank you so much for this video. I'm in the process of going raw which made me decide to get off of the anti depressants I have been on for over ten years. I'm doing it slowly. Thank you Tonya for being honest about this process. :)
This chick is CRAZY inspiring! Thank you so much for this video...if she could do what she did then I can definitely meet my small goals with raw food!
When someone is in a hypo-manic state and they think they are superman or whatever, they give them lithium in it brings them down to reality. I think it's interesting because lithium is a mineral. Doesn't it make sense that some mental illness including manic depression may be caused by a mineral deficiency? A mineral deficiency that a high nutrient raw food diet might address?
Tonya what do you think of some of the awakening thories? I was 43 when I started getting phychological help and went through a compleate personality change. I've been looking at videos talking about identity crushing and how chemical imbalances can occur as the ego protects its self. One issue is the activation of the pineal gland. Since it's associated wtih sleep I've been left very little sensitive.
There is a CURE for deep Depression, Despair, and Hopelessness. I was in the Chains of Hopelessness for years and couldn't find anyway out. I used my Addictions to cover up the pains I was feeling. But now I am finally Free and have so much Hope, Joy, Happiness, Peace, and Love that I have ever experienced. There are 100s of people that I know personally who have experienced the same things! Click on my name to see these Powerful Stories of Hope and Freedom. You can have the same also!
Amen sister! I can relate on everyone wanting you to take drugs and you wanting to get all natural and healthy. It's amazing what people will tell you when greed and the love of money (root of all evil) is involved. I am not able to do all raw, but your videos are very inspiring and help me make foods that keep me from processed foods! Thank you Matt and Angela!
What Medications was she on? Shit! Amazing. I managed to get off 2 medications on my own safely. Earlier today I decided to go Raw. I used to be normal and Prozac withdraws made me BiPolar. I was lied to that I was born that way. It's B.S. Bravo! You are a hero.
I've just recently been learning about the raw food diet and I love watching your videos. But I think this video is presented a little bit irresponsibly. Many bipolar people can become severely suicidal and homicidal going off their meds. It can be a very dangerous thing if a transition to a med free life isn't at least supervised by a natural health physician experienced in this field.
i did raw for 4 months and about three months later my husband and i were pregnant ... i have been a vegan for 14 years .. and it was so wonderful to do i will do it again next time for a year..
This is great! I wish that I could interview her personally, as I want to know what specific steps she took. Both my boyfriend and I have mental health issues, and I am a follower of the raw food movement and lifestyle.
I like the "removing people that are arguing and creating stress" idea... actually I've done it already. I suggest everybody do that. A friend... errr a "friend" is not irreplaceable. The hard part is to become aware of that. The point is, you just don't need people who create too much stress for you in your life. Fullstop.
omgomgomgomgomg I saw this chick in a movie a year ago, she inspired me to the raw society (Vegan Fitness Built Naturally)! :D awsome! Loving the random interviews =)
This is so true. I mange my panic disorder and agoraphobia into non-existence the same way she does. greens and seaweeds. I didn't even know i could do that when i started raw foods and It was a happy surprise to me... it took 3 months for my agoraphobia and panic attacks to go away... lingering anxiety for 3 months after that. Then cured! yay!My friends bullied me into not being raw recently and the agoraphobia came back. I went raw again and I am cured again. panic attack free over a year now.
@ray180597 about 1 head or bunch of greens daily.. raw foods, spirulina, fruits, nuts and seeds, seaweeds etc.. I was about 95% raw foodist when the panic disorder went away... i find if i get lower then 80% raw some of the anxiety starts to come back but nothing like it use to be... thats a rough guess btw.. because i wasn't trying to cure panic disorder when i was doing this... I just wanted to supply my body with what it needed to heal it's self and get more nourished.. thats it really. =^-^=
@Necrowitch This gives me real hope! I have agoraphobia, severe social anxiety, panic attacks, as well as having been diagnosed with bi-polar 1 mix in 2003. I went off my bipolar meds last year, but remain on my paxil. I really want to phase it out.
As a therapist, this is great news!!!! I am totally convinced that all those "chemical imbalances" supposedly responsible for psychological disorders...might in fact be the result of our unhealthy lifestyles...which in turn create chemical imbalances in the brain! So, definitely, you are what you eat :) Great interview!
This is awesome and so true!! Thanks for sharing her story -- there are so many people that are diagnosed with "depression" these days and there are so many other options than psychiatric therapy and medication! Hopefully a lot of people get to watch this.
@stanzibritovsky That's a really interesting concept! Although I wouldn't use the "crazy" label, I do agree that many people with mental "disturbances" are very aware of the differences between their mentality and that of a "normal" person, and then try to compensate, sometimes overcompensating.
That being said, I really admire her because I know first-hand that overcoming/working on mental illness with CBT is a long, hard process that will probably never end for most of us.
@polkadot0tanktop crazy people isnt the nicest way of saying it. its just that i think that everyone is kind of crazy, and to one degree or another, mask who they really are. I dont think one person on this planet would feel comfortable playing even an hour of the movie thats going on inside there head to all of there friends and family on a nice big high def tv. not one person. i truly sympathize with Tonya though. my heart goes out to her.
"Removing the trigger of stress"... WOW!!! I needed to hear this. I want to hear more about the "tools" she uses to control stress. Thanks for posting.

What causes violence is stress. And to fight stress :
First thing you have to do is finding out the origins.
Second : you have to do some sport
Food plays an important role too but not that much regarding to sport (for exemple).
PS : Tonya Kay has a beautiful barbie face Makes me want to hug you and make you many many kiss :-)
