  • smoke detector needs a battery...

  • @BennitoJuarez01 Thanks for reminding me 3 years later.

  • that nostromo thing is the ugliest controller i've ever seen in my life

  • @YTTAPH it looks like a cardboard box with buttons and analog sticks slapped on. and the handle just tops off the ugliness. this looks like a prototype controller that playstation was planning on making, but just said "screw it" and handed it off to belkin. i have an old zoltrix z-boxer that works great for super nintendo games, and sega genesis games, its an ugly peice of shit, and even it works way better than that controller you are talking about.

  • I just got a GameWare rumble pad and once again it has a rubbish d-pad even though it looked good. Why do so few companies know how to make a good d-pad nowadays?

  • @eateroftheflame because people are starting to think quantity over quality and graphics over gameplay once again when it comes to most pc games.

  • @MrNamegame I don't think a poorly made d-pad has any real effects on quantity or graphics.

  • @eateroftheflame well, take mw3 for example. it has better graphics than black ops, but WHERE THE HELL DID ZOMBIES GO??? that is my whole point here.

  • @MrNamegame Yeah but what does that have to do with gamepads? I wouldn't buy COD anyway but if I did I certainly wouldn't use a gamepad

  • @eateroftheflame i said both quantity over quality and graphics over gameplay. the first one goes for both gamepads and most games nowadays.

  • i have Gembird Dual-Shock for like 4 years, they are resistent, cheap, :)

  • you dont have to buy an usb adapter for your ps3 controler you can also downloading ds3 tool (dont know if it'l work on other games than ps similator games) BTW: can anyone tell me how to use my wingman precision game pad. its an old gamepad and my computer wont detect it.

and it i have never used it because it havent worked in past either. (and im talking about right after i opened it from the box) so i think it still works...

  • @dastingoman your wingman needs drivers or something. go on the internets and find some proper drivers! if it doesn't need a driver disk, go to device manager(start>control panel>system>hardware>device manager), there should be a tab that says other with a question mark icon, plus that, right click on it and click remove. now unplug your controller and plug it in again, and you should have a working controller! if not, just ask me, and tell me what happens.

  • what irony.....the worst of the gamepads is the best looking one :(

  • @Igorsov ya...looks somewhat like a xbox 360 controller too! why, microsoft? oh well, it is what it is now...

  • Which is the best control for mw3? For pc of course

  • i had the ps2 controller with the adapter for the pc it worked a grqand total of 1 day the then just stopped recognising on my pc

  • Change your damn smoke detector battery!

  • What about the Logitech F130? It's pretty nice because it has a "Mode" Button that alternates what the pad and stick do in-case of some glitch happens mid-game.

  • What about RUMBLEPAD 2? I heard only great things

  • I bought 2 gamepads still searching 4 the right one with the right d-pad..

  • @tigruana i have one that is great for snes and genesis emulators. the only two problems are it is rare, meaning parts would be hard to find, and the dpad is registered as a joystick in windows xp, so the dpad doesnt go all the way right or down as a joystick, meaning some emulators dont work with this controller, so yeah.

  • @MrNamegame man i'm looking for a good gamepad to play the Fifa series. using the d-pad on this game sux unless its a good d-pad, because it happens often to press forward but it suddenly goes in another direction like left or right, and thats because almost all d-pads are made 1 piece. I've smashed 2 gamepads because i got very angry.

  • Microsoft was thinking that people would use their controller for racing and FPS games that don't require a d-pad... not an emulator. >_>

  • @TheDeathOfMacoroni They were a bit short-sighted considering the amount of 2D games released on XBLA

  • Good review of the controllers. That MS Sidewinder PRO brought back bad memories, though, I still have no idea why I purchased it. And iirc, the Mush-pad was also at a odd angle, so going left or right on a sidescroller was a pain.

  • the title of this vid should be guy hateing on d pads :P

  • @gimosh77 Well if I knew that most viewers wanted to use a PC gamepad to play FPS games, then I wouldn't have bothered to mention d-pads at all. To me, I have no idea why anyone would want to do such a thing since a keyboard+mouse is a far superior control method, but to each their own.

  • @EnigmaHood I am in market for a PC gamepad and I only need it for old Sega 2D games like Comix Zone or Streets of Rage, other than that Keyboard+mouse is the way to go for any PC games. Gamepads are only good for fighting games, I don't understand how people can play 3D shooter games on a gamepad :)

  • @Igorsov That's exactly what a PC gamepad is for!

  • @EnigmaHood to u its btter i find using a keyboad and mouse to be awkward and uncomfortable type for hours but gaming sucks for fps i always use controlers for ruse C&C rome or CoH i use kkeyboard and mouse i know they are more acurate just like i know pc is best for gaming , really just comes down to comfort i have used controlers since i was 5 thats 19 years of gaming so you can see how keyboard and mouse could be a bit awkward

  • @IAPOD So you're going to pass up on a superior control method just because you are comfortable with what you are used to even though it's inferior? That's irrational. The flaws of using using a gamepad for a FPS really come to light when you play vs. others. So keep using a gamepad for FPS games, you'll be at a disadvantage every time.

  • @EnigmaHood i have a working v3 race wheel that i got from some guy, and it works great for nfs 3 hot pursuit! even though the stock drivers dont work...oh well, at least i know it works!!!!

  • @gimosh77 you try beating super mario world without a dpad.

  • Omfg i need a mooshee!

  • Don't buy Cordless Rumblepad 2!! I was very disappointed about it twice.. Either Logitech Dual Action or Ps2 controller ftw. xbox controller is good as well, but if you wanna play older games like nes games, it won't be easy to play with the d-pad.

  • @TheAwsomeGuy44 Lol. XD

  • @TheAwsomeGuy44 I give a shit about the D-Pad.

  • @TheAwsomeGuy44 ....what is wrong with this guy??? O_o

  • @TheAwsomeGuy44 Or for games that are in birds-eye view Like Nation Red or Dead Ops arcade in Black ops PC.

Unless those games are old pieces of shit, remove your d-pad if you think it's so worthless.

  • anyone know if this works for dead space 2 windows 7 64 bit

  • I once found a gamepad (spinmaster ltd. is what it says on the underside) at a resale shop for a dollar a few years back. Never used it until recently, when I got into emulator gaming. Controls are alright, except when I play fighting games (which I rarely do), in which I get finger cramps due to the short handles...looks like it was made for little kids with smaller hands, lol...

  • the nostromo looks like a GUNDAM

  • ty !

  • mooshee

  • @Hoxapos111 Lol didn't think anyone watched those vids anymore.

  • my favourate one is my german speedlink strike gamepad. red

  • ps2 controller buttons are pressure-sensitive, that is they don't just have a "clicked" and a "non clicked" position but can also take many intermediate positions, in other words they work as analog buttons and this is why they feel different in clicking. I found this feature really cool in games like Gran Turismo 3+, where X worked as an analog throttle and square as an analog break, that was very realistic. Not sure if this feature works on PC though.

  • 110 buckss!!! WTF!!

  • Wireless duss work but you need to use the charger

  • What is the name for the Blue triangle for playstation controler

  • The 360 controller really needs a good D-pad, I hope Microsoft finally get it trough their thick skulls the next time.

Another problem I see with it is that they use membranes for the buttons, if you're going to make them digital (witch is arguably inferior to analogue) at least use actual switches.

Other than that I find it a lot more comfortable than the Dual Shocks and I really like the battery life.

  • @5:24 The wireless version works too, but you also need the Xbox 360 PC wireless gaming receiver for Windows

  • the ps3 controller is better than the ps2 conntrollers because of the l2 and R2 buttons. the only thing that is bad about it is that you need 3rd party software

  • @EnigmaHood: How DARE YOU compare that pos Belkin controller to a ps2 controller!? LMAO, loved the vid but last time I checked a ps2 or ps3 controller was at least functional and didn't look like a brick. just saying

  • yo i can i us my ps3 controller

  • thanks for the review

  • well i have to say the xbox 360 controler is amazing but the dpad realy sucks

  • hmmmmm..................

  • Do u have to install any software for the ps3 controller?

  • @pilebaina No, plug and play.

  • @pilebaina yeah motioninjoy is the best

  • Who has windows 98 now a days??

  • @hotvampire1992 No one except me it seems. I still have it on my old computer in my room.

  • @EnigmaHood Don't worry, you're not the only one with 98. I still use 98 for gaming and it lags like hell! LMFAO

  • @EnigmaHood ...had ME on a comp I sold a few months ago, and had 98 on a computer my bro bought me (I parted it, gutting it for spare parts FOR the, lol.)

  • @nyuuchan356 (gutted it for spare parts for the ME...)

  • I would recommend the Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2 over the PS3 controller. Same basic button layout, but better trigger buttons, and it has a very comfortable weight to it. It also has a "mode" button that lets you swap between the D-pad and left analogue stick (so games will known which one to use for direction input). It is also not all that expensive (got mine for just over 15€)

  • Sorry but the xBox controller is the best and you are the worst piece of shit i have ever seen!!!!!!!!!

  • @FifaSoldier24 You think I'm "the worst piece of shit" because I think the Xbox controller is an awesome controller other than the shoddy d-pad? Does your father anally rape you on a daily basis or something?

  • @FifaSoldier24 dude i also like it but you dont have to rage

  • @FifaSoldier24 Let's play a game of "spot the fanboy". I think I managed to spot one (clear signs of fanboyism includes overreaction to criticism of whatever you are a fanboy of and just claiming that ""your thing" is the best" without actually having much experience outside of it)

  • one year and i was using a game pad but mouse and keys are better

  • I remember those old Sidewinder things, the gamepads sucked but the joysticks were pretty good.

  • @eateroftheflame Yeah I remember the joysticks. They were pretty awesome, especially the force feedback ones. They actually gave resistance when playing flying games!

  • Microsoft listened to the consumers, They've improved the dpad alot. It is usable on 2d games.

  • What would be good to use for nintendo 64 games and ps1 games?

  • @GypsyyHD For N64 games I prefer the Xbox 360 pad. For PS1 games, nothing would beat the dualshock obviously lol.

  • @EnigmaHood Whats the xbox 360 pad called?

  • @GypsyyHD It's just a regular Xbox 360 wired gamepad.

  • @EnigmaHood how do you get the sidewinder working

does it work for call od duty for the pc MW2 ? please reply pleaseee :)

  • @CaLlOfDuTyCrAzEe Don't use the sidewinder, it's a bad controller. Are you sure you aren't talking about the xbox 360 pad? But anyway, if you are playing an FPS game on the PC, just use the keyboard and mouse. It's far superior to a gamepad!

  • @EnigmaHood ino but does the sidewinder work on MW2 for the pc

by the way i like your video :) and ur right about the mussy thing :) like pillow

  • @CaLlOfDuTyCrAzEe It should.

  • @EnigmaHood well ive got the sidewinder and a disk from a car boot and i put the disk in and it doesnt work it says wrong windows thing and the controller doesnt work at all what should i do ? :)

  • @CaLlOfDuTyCrAzEe I don't know. I guess those drivers don't work with the latest version of windows.

  • 18 People Cannot Afford A Gamepad

  • @xXCrAzYvIdSXx I'm surpised. It's only 26 bucks at best buy.

  • @DeathTheKidLoquendo Never tried it. Any good?

  • yes i completely agree with this guy. the best controller over made is the one used in the PS consoles. although starting from PS2 and up coz i think some of the ones for the PS1 was to fat. the PS2 and PS3 controller design (same thing pretty much) are the best. i also like the xbox360 one (not the one of the regular xbox that was dumb especially with the black and white button spots) but the d-pad isn't as good as the one of the dualshock PS controller

  • Hey EnigmaHood, do you think the Acme GA-03 is a good controller?

because I'm looking for a good PC controller.

  • Cool review! Btw, with program Xpadder you can setup your D-pad instead of Stick or even use joystick in games, that doesn't support it. And Xbox360 wireless controller can be connected to PC with special Microsoft device.

  • which gamepad would be good for 2D fighting games(old and new) and new racing games like Dirt3 ?

  • @ss4rafi PS2 controller with usb adapter.

  • I've had the Sidewinder pro for years and it really sucks for playing fighting and platform games, but I found the analog control is rather useful when playing flight simulator because it gives you more precise control on the movement and I don't have money to buy a more advanced controller.

So although it kinda sucks, it accomplishes its purpose.

  • You sir, have solved all of my problems.... HAve my 1st newborn son :D

  • I have the Logitech Chillstream :D It has cooling in it. For your hands =P Pretty awesome actually, you can set it on off, low or high. I usually play with low, unless it's hot and I start sweating alot.

  • I've got several PS2 style controllers from Ebay for about $5 each. They are generic usb from Hong Kong but they are awesome. The closest you will find to a PS2/3 contoller on the PC...and well made.

  • have you tried Xeox usb Gamepad?

  • @Transylvania1792 Nope, nice avatar btw. Love Symphony of the Night :D

  • @EnigmaHood i have a dilong pc controller and i cant use it its not dual action either

  • will xbox 360 controller work for vista

  • @MrEfe88 I never tested it with vista, but it should work fine.

  • @MrEfe88 i used a wired 360 controller on my vista pc it works fine but my controller stopped working so i dont know about lately but as of 2 months ago its fine

  • @MrEfe88 From XP to Win 7. It works perfectly fine.

  • What is the best price wise?

  • @Thehalopianoplayer The Logitech Precision.

  • @enigmahood can I play left 4 dead 2 or team fortress 2 with any of these controllers I have just found out the awesomeness of pc gaming and I want to invest properly Please reply Thanks

  • @UGOTPWNED95 Yes you can, but don't. Both of those games are fps games, and they play better just using a keyboard and mouse. The mouse is much more precise than a gamepad for fps games.

  • Thank you I just ordered the dual shock one and was checking if it was good

  • Original D-pad is patented by Nintendo so other companies have to create their own versions of the D-pad or pay royalties... So it's: Original cross type: Nintendo, cookie type: SEGA, Buttons type: Sony, pillow type: Microsoft generic controller and double cookie type: Microsoft Xbox 360... There are also floating cookie, D-stick and touch D-pad types which are usually or always 3rd party...

  • @arospades I thought that might have been the case. But Dreamcast has a cross shaped d-pad...

  • @EnigmaHood I knew that someone would say that but unfourtanetely I have no idea if they decided to pay royalties or I just don't know... I read somewhere that the cross shaped d-pad was patented by Nintendo... So the information isn't reliable...

  • @arospades

I remember the D-stick type being used as the C-stick on the Nintendo Gamecube controller

  • @ManofWario hum no the Gamecube uses a Variable resistor analog... The D-stick is usually a crappy 3rd party accessory that is a fail attempt to transform a D-pad into a analog stick...

  • FYI: Sony's DS2 controller has touch sensitive buttons. That is probably why it is softer. The Sixaxis and DS3 controllers also have touch sensitive buttons unlike the PlayStation Control Pad, Dual Analog Controller and the DualShock Controller.

  • @dimmddr1 It's pressure sensitive... The Dualshock 2 and 3 are full analog controllers...

  • The wireless XBox 360 controller also works on PC, you just need MS' adapter.

  • 360 controllers are made for fps games so the d pad isnt very necessary, if yor going 2d i would use ps3 controller if fps go 360

  • @TopThePop1 Just use a keyboard and mouse. :P It's much better.

  • @EnigmaHood that works 2

  • That Microsoft controller looks fucking funny!

  • u can use wireless xbox360 controller but u need a type of adpter for to work.so now u can play but it cost more because of the adpter

  • thanks man,the vid helps a lot

  • Also, you mentioned that the face buttons don't have that hard plastic feel. That's because the PS2 dual shock controllers have pressure sensitive face buttons (i.e. the buttons register how hard you press it). Very few games on PS2 actually uses that functionality. The only game that I experienced using it was SOCOM 2, which has prone and crouch mapped to the same button, and you need to press harder for prone.

  • The home button only works on the Games for Windows Live games. It brings down the Lives home menu screen. If you don't have the controller, the default keyboard for that is the "Home" key.

  • Dude you really never see a wireless controller don't you??? Try Logitech F710....

  • I love my 360 controller for PC 1st person shooters. I use to listen to others saying i will be at a disadvantage against keyboard and mouse users but thats crap. I do as good or better on PC with my controller then on console.

  • @caperjim To each their own I guess :P

  • @caperjim i guess you are noob at counter strike because this game is made for mouse and keyboard not for gamepad so real players use computers :)

  • @x33mmm I never played counter strike for PC so i guess i would be a "noob". Most games that are made for a mouse and keyboard can be made compatable with a controller through software. From my experience with PC shooters so far is that there is little advantage using a keyboard and mouse over a controller. It all depends on what your use to. I couldnt shoot the side of a building with a mouse but i could shoot a small insect on it with my controller.

  • @caperjim i have controller too but i use it mostly for football games pro evolution soccer and fifa and some racing games i dont feel comfortable using joystick or gamepad in shooting games they are just made for mouse and keyboard :)

  • @caperjim Maybe....but aiming is still shit compared to a mouse. Tried a couple of cheap controllers + XBOX360 lately with the crop of coop games appearing and I still can't compromise the aim. I'm mainly a PC gamer so I'm a little subjective but I also used to game a lot on NES.

In racing and fighting games I always manage to get proficient with a controller but FPS and 3rd person shooters are a too big compromise to even try, never-mind to actually play competitively in those genres.

  • Good review, but I hate how you base your review on 2D games

  • @allhailkingryan I don't know man. Any 3D game worth playing on the PC usually plays better with a keyboard and mouse. Anything else, I just get it for a console.

  • What about vibration support, my rumblepad 2 does not vibrate in many games, and also makes noise during vibration because of the plastic buttons, but i think its worth the cost. What about xbox controller, does it make noise??

Does that trigger helps in shooting games, or my hard plastic buttons are better?

Is the analog stick of xbox 360 controller extremely precise, i find it difficult to the play with my gamepad in first person shooting games because the pointer never hits the head!!

  • Your smoke detector needs batteries.

  • (continue) The X360 pad has greatest triggers ever, and the least comfortable to me are these found in PS3's pad. Logi F510's triggers are somewhere between them. I use the Logitech Rumblepad 2, also a fantastic pad. F510 borrows the best of that pad and adds analogue triggers and Xinput mode, which is activated by switch at the bottom of the device. This means you can play older (DirectInput) and new (Xinput) games with it. I strongly recommend F510 - you can't go wrong with it :)

  • In my opinion, the best controller for PC is the Logitech F510. It's very comfortable and has a floating d-pad - the best d-pad ever created. After couple of hours spent on playing with the PS2 pad's d-pad, my left thumb hurt a lot, but with long playtime with Logitech's floating d-pad, it was fine. The precision of this d-pad is also top-notch. Analog sticks are also the best in Logi, no looses even after 5 years, and great precision. Only the triggers are worse than X360 pad's, but still cool.

  • Thank you very much. This review was very informative. I've just downloaded ZSNES and Jnes, and I've been looking for a gamepad since the keyboard is way too awkward to play NES and SNES games with. Since I already have a couple of PS2 controllers, that adapter might be the best bet for me. Or maybe the logitech precision since I'm only playing 2-D games.

  • OMG THE BOOMERANG IS BACK!!

  • I have 5 gamepads,a wireless one which sucks alot,a logitech attack 3 joystick which sucks too,a joystick without analog which I use to play soccer games,a ps2 rip-off controller wich is good, and a xbox 360 controller......fucking amazing!

  • The reason why the x,o,square and triangle buttons don't clic that much is because they are pressure sensitive

  • xbox360 gamepad the best :D

  • using a ps2 to pc converter is cheap and great alternative for playing pc game/emulator with gamepad/arcade stick,....but most of these converter have input lag which hinders some of the game/emulator especially fighting games which a 1:1 timing is required for playing this type of games,....

  • thx!!!

  • @MintagedVortex I can only speak from personal experience. I don't play many PC games that require a gamepad. I have a PS3, any multiplatform games that play best with a gamepad, I would probably get for the PS3 because my comp isn't a hardcore gaming system. *shrugs* You can use the PC gamepads for whatever you want.

  • How can a D-Pad be precise???

  • @nicnec7 When you play fighting games, and try to execute a special move, you successfully execute the move most of the time when correctly imputing the right commands. Also platforming games are a good litmus test. Precise platforming will be difficult if the d-pad sucks.

  • 360 dpad sucks too

  • ps2 controller is great!

i personally have a ps1 controller with no analog sticks but it is still awsome

  • what do you think about the logitech F710 vs the xbox360/PS2/PS3 controller?

  • Press 9 6 2 in order to hear him diss the ps2 controller. (Troll much?)

  • @Zestypanda *Pushes 9* "My only complaint about this is"

    *Pushes 6* "looks"

    *Pushes 2* "completely useless."

    lol

  • xbox 360 controller will work with emulator games like n64 and playstation??

  • @thehill2240 Yes, as long as you configure it in the emulators settings. Cheers -zestypanda. :D

  • I have windows 7 and I'm trying to use a wired 360 controller to play gta San Andreas but it doesn't work, I een downloaded this driver off the Microsoft website but it still doesn't even register

  • witch one is the best?

  • @xFuziongamingPs3 PS2 Dual Shock with USB adapter IMO.

  • @EnigmaHood Yeah. Personally I like the Xbox 360 controller more than any other. It is very strong. Unlike PS3 controller. PS3 controller is made as cheap as the WII controllers. But cost 3x more. And when I get mad at the game I squeeze the controller and it feels like it's about to break. Xbox 360 controller is impossibe to break. I squeezed it as hard as I could and it didn't do a thing. It is the most comfortable. But I gotta admit the D-pad is the crappiest ever designed. Hardly ever works.

  • if u use a dualshock controller for pc are the buttons programmable?

  • does the xbox controller work with windows 7???

  • @mrsneaker96 It should

  • @mrsneaker96 Yes it does. Works really well. Even worked without the drivers for me, but I'd recommend getting them anyway.

  • You should get the SNES usb controller for ZSNES. It's almost exactly like the actual controller other than the start and select are hard but who cares?

  • So.......You Like them hard?????

  • Personally i elected on a generic X-Box 360 USB gamepadfrom gamestop, does not cost a lot, works nice and surprisingly works well on my linux OS.

If you can use the analog stick as opposed to a d pad then its cool

  • Don't know why he wouldn't suggest the wireless 360 controller, when its vastly superior to wired one, using both vista and 7 it works great, can connect 4 controllers to the one device which you and your friends would already own for your 360. Analog stick sucks for some older games if you're looking for precision but for the most part you get use to it. Also suggest ps3 controllers, can use bluetooth wirelessly if you have it, usb cable if you don't just requires a simple driver install.

  • I use a Dualshock 3 =D
