This video set of interviews was the first I've ever seen Adam (around the time that Idol ended) and I at the time I wasn't impressed (like I am now).

I think I know why - here Adam acts the way people often do around their crush - awkward, playing a second fiddle, more focused on another person than bringing out themselves, shy-ish... And Adam just wasn't made to be second fiddle to anything or anyone. On his own, he shines - blindingly so. With Kris here, he dulls the shine.
