Have you tried out Mod Podge's Dimensional Magic? I've gotten some very good results with it, but I've never tried resin (although I plan to some time!). Starting the stream on the side is a great tip, I wish I had heard it sooner; it would've saved me the trouble of struggling with pesky bubbles.
Sorry that you are having problems with that :( I'm not familiar with a name change for DG3, so I can't speak to that, but in my experience DG3 does not harden as completely as a resin does. It does seem to harden more over time. It almost sounds like what you are using is a resin that did not harden completely.
The result is sticky pieces, and when I beaded in a cabochon, the result was a beaded cab full of fingerprints. I decided to try and redo the cabochon, so I took it out of the work. I had to sand off the gel. Now, I have another piece, seemingly cured, but after putting it on a bead board, and leaving it there for a few days, it is ruined, since it stuck to the surface.
I have tried to write to Judikins about this product. I have bought the product, but now labelled as Beadsmith. None of the companies answer to e-mails concerning the product. I have covered baked polymer clay pieces The result seems to be goood at first, but the Art gel dosn't harden completely. I have had my pieces covered with at translucent lid for over a week.. Temperature indoors is 20 degrees Celcius. It is winter with 0 to - 10 degrees outdoors, and snow. Very little sunlight. Dry air.
This is a great tutorial. I had no problems following the directions.
I have had great problems getting the DG3 gel to harden. It stays "soft set", easily damaged by fingernails or other pressure. I've even stuck it under a glass with a desiccant pack, and it stayed soft.
I think it may have to do with humidity. As the humidity dropped this fall, my pieces hardened to better consistency. This is difficult to control, and the lack of guidance from Judikins regarding this product is frustrating. I'm looking for another product.
I tried this. The mod podge made the ink bleed since it's also water-based. I tried using less and that helped a bit but it bled anyway. After they dried I put the DG3 in the pendants which were barely a milimiter deep and let them dry about 24 hours. I started working on my jewelry project. By the time I was done, there were marks and fingerprints all over my pendants. Also, since it was ruined anyway, I put one under the faucet and the glassy stuff came right off. Not for bracelets or rings.
Great tutorial! Don't know how anyone could give it a thumbs down. You really covered the basics well. Thanks a lot - I have this stuff and didn't know where to begin - I appreciate your help.
*HELP* I've been trying to make graphics for my resin projects but i'm having trouble getting them the right size, what program do you use for it? cuz I use photoshop but it wont size right.
you will want to make sure that when you print your images from photoshop that your printer isn't trying to fit to page. If you set the size in photoshop that is the size that it is, honestly. If it isn't that size when you print it out it's probably your printer doing a little shrinking or stretching.
@darkestrose2005 Hello! I found a great tutorial here on youtube for photo resizing of pics for jewelry. If you don't find it contact me and I will send you the link to it. It was really helpful for me because I was having the same problem in that I do not know photoshop much. So it easily walked me through it. Layla uberliciousart is my webpage
I am dying to get my hands on DG3, any idea where I might find it? It isn't on the Diamond Glaze site yet. I have asthma, so I can't work with resins.
Love your videos, very thorough. It might be nice to see your smiling face at some point, you're a mystery man!
I would go for Epoxy Stickers!

I bought some Judikins Diamond Glaze. Would it be the same as DG3? I guess i am saying can i use it the same way you are using DG3
nico27004 4 months ago
@nico27004 In my experience, Diamond Glaze is not as "dimensional" as DG3. DG3 seems better to create a thicker layer of of glaze.

can you use DG3 in molds?

@SilverTsukiAngel24 I have not tried DG3 in molds, so I am afraid I can't say :(

can you use a regular printer paper?
SilverTsukiAngel24 5 months ago
@SilverTsukiAngel24 I have not tried regular printer paper, but I suspect it may not be water resistant and the image may bleed.

Really great tutorials, they're very helpful. I have a couple questions.
How do you make graphics like the ones in the video?
Is there another type or brand that is similar to the DG3 you used?

John, where do you get the pewter pendants? I love these, and want to do the DG3 thing but they are also great for polymer clay. Thanks
