Never heard this tune but this is vintage early 80s stuff. Immediately makes me shiver as it reminds me of MJ being at his best. Michael should have stuck to this type of music. Never really understodd all this stuff he did post Bad era. I hope the album they release in November 10 contains more of these types of songs e.g. Carousel, Love never felt so good, etc. Man wish he was still around and wish I wish still in the 80s...
This is a song written by Jim Krueger, from Dave Mason's 1980 album, "Old Crest, New Wave" —and, though, it's always nice seeing MJ, you might think about re-doing the vid, concentrating on Dave Mason, while inserting some Michael —The story on Michael's involvement is the J-5 was recording at Hollywood Sound in LA the same time Mason was recording and Hammond player, Mark Stein (Vanilla Fudge) invited MJ to improvise. MJ, basically, did this in one take...
there's plenty of other vids that concentrate on Michael this video was done years ago.. I was just trying to teach ppl my age a new song basically while trying to tell the story in the song through a visual aspect.. with today's star and a bit Of Michael
I was trying to do something different in this vid plus follow the storyline of the song this is an old vid I made....the point of it is the song anyway do you like that?
I am 100% sure that this song will be now "rediscovered" after Michael's death. Priceless...Dave Mason of the former Traffic doing a duet with MJ!!! Thanks for posting man, I don't know how you got your hands on this track...I am jealous!
Pt.3: If Michael's part in the song seems small, it probably has something to do with the fact that Michael's part was pretty much unrehearsed. This running into Dave Mason and the recording of the song on the same day was very much an impromptu situation. If I'm not mistaken the interview that I mentioned might have occured on American Bandstand with Dick Clark doing the interview. Can someone please find this and post it. I would like to see that again. Michael didn't appear with Dave though.
Pt.2: I heard a radio interview with Dave Mason at the time the song was released. Dave said he and Michael had never planned this song. They just happened to be in the same recording facility at the same time. I believe at the time Michael was hot on the charts with the Thriller lp(Perhaps before, I don't remember) So after calling out to Michael and exchanging a few words of hello- nice-to-meet-you, Dave, yelled out "Hey Michael, wanna come record this song!"
oh okay that's how I figured it happened plus they had the same record company...but to me Mike steals the song his background vocals are great....and someone has the dick clark thing but he's quick to get his stuff off youtube....even something as small as that
Don't you think you'll get more responses to this video if you spell out Michael's name in full instead of abbreviating? I notice as of now you have only 51 views on this thing. More Michael fans would want to know about this. I don't think you're reaching 'em like this. Why not change the title a bit.
Pt 1: I always wondered what the hell happened to this song. Now I know cause here it is! Haven't heard it since the year it was released. I only heard it played about 10 or 15 times on only one radio station in small town in Louisiana that I grew up in. It's so nice to know that I wasn't alone in thinking that it was a cool-ass song.
thanks for posting. I'm a big Michael fan and back when this came out in 78-79, a St Louis radio station used to give this air time. I went out and bought the Dave Mason album it was on just for this song. I doubt many MJ fans are aware of this tune. Thanks again
oh your welcome....I think some fans now about it because recently someone posted all the background work he did in the late70 and 80's....this song is nice it should of been more of a hit back then
I use to hear this song on MOR stations way back when but totally forgot about it. I had no idea this was a duet with Dave Mason.

papafirelin, You are correct. This is a song from Dave's 1980 album, Old Crest on a New Wave. Too bad this song did not get a lot of airplay.

It's either me, or David Coverdale is singing back-up vocals.
