  • gram parsons and lennon..... but i love ryan adams just as much

  • I f**kin' love Ryan Adams!!!!

  • hes the best!

my favourite artist ever, a class act

  • where is the harmonica!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Live performances are better that the recordings! Cheers Ryan

  • ryan adams changed my life

  • has there ever been a better artist to show pain than ryan adams

  • nope

  • Yes... John Lennon

  • i need to get some of his albums for sure ;-)

  • "most of the time i've got nothing to say

when i do its nothing and nobodys there to listen anyway..." beautiful

  • Too true! There always seems to be a nugget of genius hidden somewhere in Ryan's work when you take the time to look.

  • Indeed !

  • i sometimes feel he doesnt get the appreciation he deserves, but on the other hand what makes his music better is the way he has never sold out and went mainstream so in a way, due to lack of mainstream success (well in the Uk anyway) it makes his music more meaningful and melodic

  • ......... i just adore him!!!!!!.......

  • Beautiful man Beautiful song

  • he says it himself I think! perfection sounds like this man.......

  • anyone else read that he is realesing a album in november with mandy moore

  • would be great, when he wrote all the songs.

  • His tone at the instrumental towards the end is amazing.

  • best songwriter for the last 20 years i would say

  • that is the most sensible comment i have ever heard on you tube

  • God I hate the annoying yahoo intro, kinda ruins the overall tone for me

  • Ryan Adams=Beautiful Music

  • no no, not one of this generations best songwriters, but he IS this generations best songwriter.

  • Never heard a song to fit me so perfectly.

  • I fairly sure his guitar is a Gibson ES-345 or ES-355. I used to have a 1969 ES-345 like that one.

Ryan Adams is one of this generations best songwriters.

  • it is, but gibson 335 ;)

  • actually is a 70's 355 Stereo :)

  • that's the right one its called peanut and i wish gibson would make a custom or inspired by one for him because he deserves it. Lets start a potition for it :)

  • wow! one of the best bands around. ryans gibson and johns sho-bud sound amazing together!!

  • What is Ryan's guitar?

  • Looks like a old Gibson ES double cut with what appears to be a Vibrola tremolo. Might be a 335 or a 345.

  • Thank you.

  • Close, Its a Gibson ES 355. Beautiful Guitar, I can't wait to get one to go with my Gibson Hummingbird!

  • One of my favourites for sure

  • Anyone know if you can buy the whole audio for this concert anywhere?

  • Good song....I like the David Letterman version better but w/e.

  • Listen from 2:57 to about 3:11. You hear that sadness. So beautiful!

  • great great song from a great great band

  • this is great! i love the song! this version is my fav

  • I would love to have every performanve by The Cards recorded and released because they are such a great band.

  • the Avatar session's version of this was so much better. what happened to those videos?

  • the avatar sessions version of this is out of this world! what an ending!

    i miss those videos =(

  • This is epic. Very cool arrangement with electric guitars. He's so good when he rework his songs.

  • naked! 2

  • He just played this in Madison, WI. Excellent show.

  • They should have made this set an EP! There were so many great performances on it.

  • you're right!

i didn't know the song, it is amazing. so beautiful...

  • I didn't know he was that good at guitar. Amazing!

  • ya , hes amazing you just gotta watch his hands on the guitar in every video if there visible

  • "i just listen to the voices on the tv till i'm tired,my eyes go heavy and i fade away"....my god!!!!

  • i think most agree, the song is wonderful...poison in the rain

  • I think this is the most beautiful song Ive ever heard

  • Strangely,I think he resembeles Neil Young more with his almost Bigsby-equipped Gibson and good use of distortion and obviously the plaid shirt.

  • you're right, the solo at the end is a bit "youngish"... his guitar is equipped with a Gibson "vibrola" not bigsby, i don't think it makes any difference btw :)

  • That solo at the end is magnifecent...It's not incredibly difficult but whoever making good music had to be difficult. Just beautiful

  • you gotta love him

  • happiness67peace- You're not really very happy....are you?

  • he is not happy he will be happy when ryan goes on tour with bryan. ryan sounds like bryan

  • svaneholm5- I would love to waterboard you, but I don't think you have anything intelligent to reveal.

  • i think he would be happier to go out on tour with tracy adams

  • if i had to make a comparison i would say "gram parson".. and this is a such a compliment.

  • Youi're absolutely right. What a combination they would have made. Gram surely is smiling wherever he is. I don't know if genius is incarnate but Ryan got it from somewhere. I can't get enough of this genius.

  • and obviously you know nufin about ryan adams as bryan is not his father. bryan is from canada and ryan is from north carolina. and plus ryan has sed he hates bryan adams cuz he is in music for the moeny and not for the music

  • I have to agree. When was the last time Bryan was invited to jam with Elton John, Willie Nelson, Emmilou Harris, Adam Duritz, Noel Gallagher, etc?

  • no he is not his father even if you can think so when you hear ryan

  • reimersholme9-That means, that you don't know a lot about music.

  • Good song and a stronger version done on Letterman

    link _______=dty4Jk0eERA&feature=related

  • i can't stop listening to this live version. it's like hearing a new song every time. that's how good and heart-wrenching (in a very good way) it is!!!

  • Fuck i love this version, ah man

  • Amazing songwriter with a style beyond any other.

  • what a perfect song ,underated songwriter hes great .

  • How can a guy so casual looking and regular, but quite obviously not, make me wanna bawl my freaking eyes out with music like this, and i'm a grown man way past 21!!!!!LIVE FOREVER RYAN!

  • One of my favorites this song gives me chills

  • I like both the studio version as well as this

one. In fact I sent it out as a holiday card to several friends and family.I hope no one thinks I'm depressed.

  • my version on letterman is my fave

  • bpldjgetc-Yeah that version reminds me of the shows he did when he had the broken hand. The stage setup is intimate with everyone up close,I saw this at the Keswick Theater in Philadelphia as well as the Theatre of Living Arts also in Philly back in spring/summer 2007.

  • wow you are so lucky. his concerts are personal, which is what makes them so great

  • bpl-Don't forget to pick up the reissued Whiskeytown masterpiece,Stranger's Almanac.

  • I already did the first day of its reissue. =)

  • Nice,I had to order it as they did not have it in the store. While I wait I picked up the Gary Louris solo album and the Drive By-Truckers new disc to tide me over.

  • I love Gary Louris!

  • bpldjgetc-I saw Gary Louris with the Golden Smog lineup at the Trocadero in Philadelphia about a year and a half ago, tremendous show.

  • why must you always be able to go to the best concerts??! how much do you usually pay for the tickets?

  • bpl-Golden Smog was cheap,I believe it was $24

but Ryan Adams at the TLA was over $100 because I had to use a ticket broker. The Keswick show was part of Mountain Stage Live, with such artists as Ryan Adams, the Cowboy Junkies,Martin Sexton etc. that was about $60.

  • wow 24 bucks isnt a bad deal! but im sure the $100 was very worth it! next time hes in town, im gonna do the ticket broker thing so i can be even closer to the stage. mountain stage live sounds cool too.

  • bpl-Try the regular way first, with brokers you almost always have to buy pairs,2,4,6,tickets.

  • yeah but i always go with someone, but yeah regular way is my first choice

  • Hello draziwthe: I love Ryan Adams. Hey, when u get some more tickets, how about sharing??!

  • hey where the hell is this "sound" on the album. thhe harmonica and lack of drums nearly ruin the studio version after hearing this.

  • So good, so sad, so lovely.

  • he always sounds better live

  • i've died and gone to heaven...

  • Where was this gig?

  • he's a totally unique lead guitar player.

  • i agree with ya'll. the live version is much better. sounds like he is really holding back on the album. i saw him play this live in chicago and it was incredible

  • The doods right hand guitar style is very similiar to ed van halen...just thought i'd throw that n there..love the crazy bastard

  • Emotional to say the least...that2nd verse is just the most vivid, modern description of abject loneliness i think I've ever heard...

  • beautiful!!

  • Good to see him WITH a guitar again- thought he was missing it when his hand was broken...

  • his guitar is always better than the album version from what i can tell..

  • The guitar on this is ace. This is better than the album version

  • That was great, man. Thanks for posting, I was having trouble seing it on the yahoo site. I am looking forward tremendously to seing him in Sweden in November. Hope you all liked it as much as I did

  • fantastic

  • awesome! he's even good sober.

  • Great I've been waiting for these!
