  • Is this for sale?

I'm wondering why the audio sounds a little tinny and distorted, old tired capacitors maybe?

Maybe just the speaker is funky like my ancient 323.

I just found a MINT 223 with Desk Mic!! Still has all original E.F.Johnson tubes and WORKS GREAT!!

NO BETTER METER THAN A 223, PERIOD!!

  • @MikeAntenna i'll sell it with a spare parts radio for $80 plus shipping. it sounds that way because of the enclosure i made for it. it would sound better if i was using an external speaker. the parts radio doesn't transmit unless you are pressing on multiple locations on the circuit board at once and even then it isn't on 27mhz, more like 4 and 6mhz. the 1969 final and drivers are good and replaced. both radios have original mics and brackets.

  • @fordbroncodave OK, I thought it might be one you're selling on ebay or one of the radio forums. It's hard to tell from the video, what are the condition of the face and covers?

  • @MikeAntenna face is pretty good and the covers are pretty good. usual scratches and such but nothing serious or heavy. has not been neglected or used in an unrully manor. i will say that the chrome tiny little strips in front of both the radios are missing. they fell off and i can't find them anywhere. the glue that held them on shows they are 4730's because of the indent of the glue

  • those are the best old CB/SSB radios right there. the Viking 352 and messengers 4730/40. I have a Viking 352, which is the older 23 channel rig and I also have a 4740 with the digital channel readout. The 352 has transmitting problems but the 40 works great.

  • Are you on 38-lsb? I am from cental Indiana, there are quite a few locals around hear that talk on 38-lsb. I'm American Kangaroo 3383 and we get skip from the north quite often.
