  • I need to find a teacher in Cambridge(CA), but it's so damn hard.

  • it's ginga not jinga.

  • Can I have her number?

  • king nzinga (female) is the root to the artform and it's only fitting that it is done by a female, it's much more beautiful and affective that way, the female gender is much more crafty, perfect for this artform

  • Very basic indeed. Haha. Very impressive and great to see!

  • vai se fuder sua desgracada que porra e essa ??

  • It's awesome, I'll try to learn this dance routine of yours :) Just for practice at home and when I enter the roda. I started training capoeira only recently and I had to play in the roda after my second training. Didn't know what to do and the girl I was playing with kept striking and kicking, I basically spend the entire time in a squat! :)

  • for ppl that don't know..

this style is named 'capoeira marcial' or 'capoeira regional avançada'.

It is very popular in the state of bahia and is a style that is NOT like regional do mestre bimba.

the groupe that practionises this art and were she is, is named 'capoeira estilo faixa'.

A group which also trains it is also from bahia and is called 'topazio'. if you like further information just tipe 'capoeira estilo faixa' and you will find or on w w w .estilofaixa.i n f o/ the history

    felipe

  • and what are the major differences between the styles?

  • In this video he shows the difference /watch?v=YMEf_J_mJGU

  • In this video he shows the difference /watch?v=YMEf_J_mJGU

  • ahhh beauty and grace.... the art, and the woman.

  • this is so cool im going to start learning today im kinda scared

  • dont be just have someone there to watch... even though you probably figured that out by now

  • i'm not really sure this swinging kicks are fast enough to use in a real fight..

  • they'd be much faster in a real fight although i only have 2 years of capoeira experience ive onli ever used it in sparring 3-4 times

  • Bear in mind, this chick is doing a demo, and thus is not likely to be going full-tilt showing technique that the audience expects to be able to see and follow. As for speed: really good Capoeira guys I've seen are *seriously* fast. I've trained enough (albeit not in Capo) to spot good kicking mechanics; these guys can throw strikes that'd put an opponent on their back faster than a $2 Thai hooker. Plus, speed is not their only friend; there's also evasive moves, feints, and surprise.

  • 1. Capoeira is not only a fight, but also a dance and a game.

    2. Therefore, the kicks need not always be fast.

    3. 'If I can trick you into being hit with my slow kicks, why should I go faster?'

  • tru tru!!!! but at da same time....u must be fast, illusive, nd da slow attacks really have to deal damage...nd not leave u open lookin silly afterwardz....im so gonna master this shit..nd mix it wit boxin.... nd wrestlin

  • @peazej20 i think youre getting the wrong idea about this beautiful art yes it is a martial art but its uses are mostly for play or exhibtion not generally for fighting except for some underground schools who actually believe that it should be used as adeadly fighting style so u can seek them out but ull have have a tough time finding them unless u live in brazil

  • @thehi9hness tru u right!!! but i know it's mostly used as a game...nd for exhibitions.....but it's still a very deadly art to kno!!! i need to go to brazil just 4 dis!!!! but my goal is to mix it wit boxin, gracie jiu jutsu and taekundo..............

  • @Avessan Because the faster something is moving, the more it hurts? I thought that was common knowledge.

  • @Avessan that's the exact definition of capoeira Angola

  • Just take a look to the following vid on youtube and open your mind about capoeira as a martial art.

"Official Crazy 20 second Capoeira MMA Knock Out"

(yes I know, my english is horribleee! jajaja sorry!)

  • Who is Mestra Rentinha's Mestre? How many years of Capoeira experience does she have? I'm curious for a variety of reasons. Like someone else mentioned above, if she is recognized as a Mestra, we have no right to argue otherwise.

  • Yup, she's good. She's my teacher, and she's every bit as good in real life, as you see here

  • What is it like to practice Capoeira

  • Tough. It takes stamina, strenth, flexibility. The hardest part for me is not to loose my focus and keep the balance, which is pretty hard during all the swirls and turnarounds which are a part of capoeira. However, the part I find particularly interesting is where you start using is as a defence/fighting system rather than exercise. Just got a glimpse of that the other day, and THAT looks interesting.

  • Wow I'm interested in Capoeira, and I already take the Kenpo form of karate, so I think I can sort of adapt to it, but like what you said before, kinda gives me a second thought!

  • OMG OMG OMG the front kick looks badda ss

  • turst me im 12stone and 13 years old and im good at it

  • your americain?

  • She's amazing

These are the basic moves it doesn't say you have to kick that high,or spin that fast, you kick, spin and move to your level x

  • vixe num dá nem pra comentar né!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I always don't get it... capoiera basic???

High kick, spin kicks even salts...but THIS is NOT so easy. ;)

  • The capoeira style comes from a time when teaching combat was punishable by death. As such capoeira was taught and hiden within a dance style.

The basic moves in break dancing would seem equaly hard and crazy as basics, but punches are a tad obvious.

These basics take more training than some other styles basics, but they are not basic for their ease they are basic because they are fundamentals. The begining of the more complex.

  • This style of capoeira came from a group of young kids in 1960's Rio teaching eachother without a mestre, and eventually and consciously inventing their own style of capoeira. Senzala style capoeira.

Capoeira was never punishable by death, nor was it ever hidden in a dance. There is little of the "dance" of capoeira in the Senzala style, however.

  • I was not refering to this style of capoeria as in this substyle, merely the major style that was taught as a combat form to slaves before 1888.

Yes it was punishable by death, for any slave caught learning a fighting technique was killed.

And yes it was hidden in dance, because the members of the escaped slave group who ended up back in the slave camps wished to teach the fighting they had learnt from others when they were free to the other slaves.

  • Sources? You can go check out the record for yourself. They were given the lash, imprisoned, and during the war of the Triple Alliance, conscripted to fight, but never punished with death.

As far as being hidden in a dance, no credible source for that exists. No one ever mistook capoeira for a dance. That myth didn't come about until that latter half of the 20th century. Most slaves were ganhadores, out earning money for the masters. That's how they got free time to learn and teach capoeira.

  • My sources are capoeira Mestre, what pray tell are yours.

  • sweden? anyway, amazing! just the movie i was looking for! thanks

  • i find it very funny that the last scene we scene is *SWEDEN* :D

but its very awesome nice work

  • Na végre egy INFORMATÍV feltöltés THX!

  • that is...amazing!!

i thought there is only one move in ginga.

whoa! it is more than 10 gingas.

    kewl!

i know the basic ginga, but other gingas move pretty hard to do.

    her moves real fast!

  • i thought there was one too

  • @maxemism what is these capoeira hahaha jijijiji my friend o meus amigos angola is the way to go hard core

  • i really wanna learn capoeira. hehehe. it looks so hard though.

  • mee too, my mum is brazillian so i must learn

  • This is great! just what I have been looking for. Some capoeira teacher neglet to work the ginga and focus more on the sequences. The ginga is what makes a good capoeira game, you can pretty much get away by knowing a few kicks, but if you have a solid and fluid ginga, that's teh best.

    thanks, obrigado!
