Ive yet to hear a song by Carrie I havent like. During Idol she actually made me like a Dixie Chicks song. This is one of my favorite songs that still manages to bring a tear to the eye of this 6'3" 295lb guy!
lost the love of my life a few months ago and this song has been such a comfort to her knowing one day she will see Him again. it says so much to those left behind to carry on until it is their time to go on. Thank you for putting in words how the heart feels
@destinyspath1 i know this is REALLY an old comment for you but i just wanna say i understand where your coming from. my "poppa" was once a music player, and although he's still around, he just can't play the way he used too and it really kills me inside when i hear him say it. so i learned to play in his stead from my mom. i'll always keep his memory alive when that time comes, and i know that, whether or not there is a heaven or hell, our loved ones will still always be there.

i think this song have a great hope and sadness to it, as some song can touch someone heart. for me i remember what i went though when i was young, even a year, when i was college that i start to lose my hope that i will fnd a place for me. one i look up carrie underwood and listen to this song. it help though my dark places and show that i was strong to make though abuse, being use, being like a shadow, and have my heart being play with. i know that i come out of it strong and a good person.

i lost my grandpa this past saturday sep 18 at 5:25 pm. This is the song that I kept thinking of the whole time. This song got me through the hard time. When I feel sad for my grandpa i think of the last part with the old man. This is the song that helps me to know that he is in his forever home and someday i will be with him again. I lost my father a month ago yesterday to cancer, and I almost had this song played at his funeral. He was a good, strong man who fought hard to stay with me and my mother. I was with him when he drew his last breaths and I am thankful for that. I don't have regrets. And I know that I will see him again someday, and that he's always with me. I also lost my best friend a year ago in September to murder, and the only comfort I have is knowing she and Daddy are together and I will join them someday

The last verse reminds me of my Grandpa- he died in the same situation, surrounded by people he loves. The part where it says "I can see God's face" reminds me of when he just said out loud "Gayle?" Gayle was his wife's name who died 12 years before. We knew he could see her. We sadly said our goodbyes, but we knew we'd see him again someday. Now when I'm going through a tough situation, I think of this song. Carrie, you're amazing. Thanks so much. You inspire me to an endless degree.

@maddiechick71598 Carrie is a born-again Christian. She says that her song is not sad because the song has to do with God-eternal hope. The the assurance, is that this earth is not where we belong! This is just, again as she says, a stop along the way to where we really belong...our eternal home, heaven! So even though people have hardships and trials in this life, in the end, it doesn't matter because we're moving on to be where we truly belong...with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Wow, never really paid attention to this song all the way thru, Boy did Icry! The part at the end was like a bomb on me. I was actually sitting at my oldest sister's bedside as she drew her last breath, only to have to tell the news to our Mama as she was brought into the room, then 8 mos later, it was Mama's turn to go home as well...I always feel that she was ready to go home and be with her and she did, the worst day of my life. I am so glad someone I know send me an e-mail with this one to listen to. I lost my mom the same time I was going through hell in a hospital bed so I couldn't go to her to see her one more time. Later on I lost both my brothers and again I was unable to go to say goodbye to them. So it is good to know that it is a temporary home and someday I will see them again. Carrie, that made me cry so much... My grandpa died 6 years ago and I miss him so much. I went to the UK for a week and visited him in the hospital. He died the day I came back. He missed my wedding, but I know how proud he would have been to see me. And I know that I will see him someday, but it's hard though. This song is beautiful. Thank you!

When I watched the video for this song and heard this song the first time I was aw struck because this is truly our temperary home. I know that I shouldn't get comfortable in this world because it's just temperary. It's a hard thing that I've struggled with and I guess I feel like Carrie hit it on the head. This song makes me cry everytime I hear it. I loss me husband to cancer last April. He knew he was leaving us and my kids were able to say their good byes. He said that he knew where he was going and that we would be okay. This has made us stronger and helped us get through everyday with out him here on earth with us. In my case in touched me in that my best friend passed away when he was 8 because earth was just his temporary home and now he's in heaven watching over me and everyone else who knew and loved him.
I read your comment and it raised an interesting question within me. Im a Christian but have only been for about 3 years. Im 21. It got me thinking, if a child dies who is unable to conciously, with understanding, make the decision to follow Jesus and believe in his death for our sins, does he go to heaven at the end. Which then rose the question if a baby dies, how can they be in heaven. Because honestly the Christening or Dedication or whatever, is just a symbol. The baby has not commited

God always has come to the children even in the bible he said we are to have faith like a child because in having faith like a child, you don't really question you just believe.

I was listening to this on the radio this morning (Sunday, March 14th 2010) and was reminded of a message-sermon by my local (Morris, MN) pastor about living in earth is a "temporary" stop (e.g. rest stop) on our way to Heaven to be with Jesus!

Before your song came out we watched my mother whither away in her final battle with cancer. In her last days, mom told me to "get right with the man upstairs" cuz "this life is temporary" and she wanted to be waiting on me in our new permanent home. She used that phrase alot towards the end, it seemed to give her peace. Now when I hear your song I get hopeful, (after I stop bawling.) I can't thank you enough. I play it sometimes just to think of her and say, see you soon in our permanent home.
For me, this song means this is our temporary home until we can be with Jesus, our Heavenly Father. If that's what Carrie meant by the song, I wish she would have just come right out and said it. This earthly life is our temporary home until we our Father returns for us to take us to our heavenly home. It feels like she wanted to say it but was afraid to...which makes me sad.

This song always makes me cry because my grandpa just died like a week ago and my mom died when I was only 8. I am just grateful that I will be able to see her again someday. I know she is in a better place. I am grateful that I had that time with her though.

I am so glad someone I know send me an e-mail with this one to listen to. I lost my mom the same time I was going through hell in a hospital bed so I couldn't go to her to see her one more time. Later on I lost both my brothers and again I was unable to go to say goodbye to them. So it is good to know that it is a temporary home and someday I will see them again. Thank you Carrie and my friend Carole.

This song is so very powerful! I am a foster parent and this song just hits home. If you are a foster parent and this song doesn't touch you then you need to get out of the business. It brings me to tears everytime I hear it, especially in person. Carrie rocks her concerts!

Carrie, that made me cry so much... My grandpa died 6 years ago and I miss him so much. I went to the UK for a week and visited him in the hospital. He died the day I came back. He missed my wedding, but I know how proud he would have been to see me. And I know that I will see him someday, but it's hard though. This song is beautiful. Thank you!

When I watched the video for this song and heard this song the first time I was aw struck because this is truly our temperary home. I know that I shouldn't get comfortable in this world because it's just temperary. It's a hard thing that I've struggled with and I guess I feel like Carrie hit it on the head. This song makes me cry everytime I hear it. I loss me husband to cancer last April. He knew he was leaving us and my kids were able to say their good byes. He said that he knew where he was going and that we would be okay. This has made us stronger and helped us get through everyday with out him here on earth with us. We know that we will all be together again some day. Thank you Carrie hope to see you at the CMA Fan Fair.

In my case in touched me in that my best friend passed away when he was 8 because earth was just his temporary home and now he's in heaven watching over me and everyone else who knew and loved him.

I read your comment and it raised an interesting question within me. Im a Christian but have only been for about 3 years. Im 21. It got me thinking, if a child dies who is unable to conciously, with understanding, make the decision to follow Jesus and believe in his death for our sins, does he go to heaven at the end. Which then rose the question if a baby dies, how can they be in heaven. Because honestly the Christening or Dedication or whatever, is just a symbol. The baby has not commited

God always has come to the children even in the bible he said we are to have faith like a child because in having faith like a child, you don't really question you just believe.

I was listening to this on the radio this morning (Sunday, March 14th 2010) and was reminded of a message-sermon by my local (Morris, MN) pastor about living in earth is a "temporary" stop (e.g. rest stop) on our way to Heaven to be with Jesus!

Before your song came out we watched my mother whither away in her final battle with cancer. In her last days, mom told me to "get right with the man upstairs" cuz "this life is temporary" and she wanted to be waiting on me in our new permanent home. She used that phrase alot towards the end, it seemed to give her peace. Now when I hear your song I get hopeful, (after I stop bawling.) I can't thank you enough. I play it sometimes just to think of her and say, see you soon in our permanent home.

For me, this song means this is our temporary home until we can be with Jesus, our Heavenly Father. If that's what Carrie meant by the song, I wish she would have just come right out and said it. This earthly life is our temporary home until we our Father returns for us to take us to our heavenly home. It feels like she wanted to say it but was afraid to...which makes me sad.

This song is just so beautiful! I lost my papa over a year ago and that part always makes me cry, a good cry though because I know he is in his forever home. The part with the young mom and baby is close to me too because I have a good friend who has a son and she is only 16 and her parewnts disowned her so now she is doing it all on her own.. This song is such an inspiration and so is Carrie! This song gives people hope because they know everything is temporary and it will all be ok someday! (:

The first time I heart this song was in the radio. I was down and I went in my room and cried and then I turned the radio on and this song was played. I cried, but after it, it was okay. It was like everything was good. And I had so much hope, that someday, everything is like I supposed to be and that's beautiful.

I'm 10, my name is Mattison, and my granddaddy died of cancer when I was 2. When he was passing, he said that he could see God's face, and then he said that he was with his mom for a couple hours. When I'm listening to it, that part always makes me start to really cry. If i'm not alone, though, I tell myself not to. I really miss him. i wish i could tell carrie how much she means 2 me right now. my nanna is in the hospital, im only sixteen & its really hard 4 the doctors 2 tell us that her time is so limited. shes so hopeful that shes going to get better..without a transplant theres no way. ive listened 2 this song on replay going back & 4th 2 the hospital for the past week & have just cried uncontrollably. im trying 2 let this song help me & know that she will be in a better place soon.. 2nite might be her last nite here
