I am pregnant with my second child and I am on a tight budget. Thanks so much for posting this! =) I will be using both disposable and cloth diapers.Where did you get your diapers from? Is there a discount store online? Thanks!
thank you so much!! im in a delema right now and my husband is sleeping AND forgot to get diapers last night. you saved my day :) btw congrats your cutest little man!
You're supposed to fold the side near his butt first. And you don't use a burp rag folks, you use special fabric that you have to wash and dry in hot water about 5 times.
Wouldn't folding on the inside of the diaper create a huge mess when you go to change him? It's like a poopy flower blooming, with poop on the petals folding outward and getting on everything. Plus those outer flaps are all flimsy and would be much harder to rinse than just having to rinse the middle part.
Thanks, Very simple! I'm going to try using prefolds a friend gave me today. B's 6 months old, and I ordered some one-size snap-adjustable diapers, and even on the smallest setting, the leg holes are too big and he's peed out through 3 times! :P So. We'll see how the prefolds & covers...cover.
We've been using BumGenius 4.0 pocket diapers, but my newborn has a bit of a rash and my midwife suggested we switch to prefolds without covers for a while to help him heal up. The idea of somehow turning a flat square of cloth into a diaper was intimidating to say the least, especially since we don't have Snappis yet and are using pins.
I haven't quite got the hang of it yet -- there's still a big gap around his thighs when I put his diaper on.
@brittanykay22109 I'm not sure what brand she is using but I've heard good things around Green Mountain Diapers prefolds - which I haven't tried yet but will soon. I currently have prefolds I bought from granolababies (the unbleached Indian regular size) that I'm falling in love with out of all my diapers. Also, if you order from granola babies you can get 7 dollars off a purchase of 75 dollar or more using the code: NEW4147
great tutorial especially for us young ones who have never seen it done like that before. It does look a bit like it would cut off the circulation to the baby's legs though
@niamh2739 I've never had that problem at all. The only problem I ever had with prefolds was a rash he got on his upper thighs because I wasn't making sure that the cover was nice and snug up high enough on his thigh. Circulation isn't a problem at all though!
@burleysgirl616 Well thats good to know. I know that babies are not as fragile as they seem but still I cant seem to help the over worry feeling : ) Thanks for the info I appreciate it.
I LOVE the way you folded the prefold!! I wish I knew this method before. I have been folding my prefolds the way I learned from another video and it bulky. I'm switching the way I fold today!
Thank you very much for taking the time to post this. Your diaper-fu is strong. Another thing passed on to me this week is spreading a little bit of olive oil on your babies butt, to help the poo slide off. In my five days of experience as a dad, it's worked great :)
Hi- I am enjoying your videos very much. I use cloth diapers and even though I change my baby girl seems like all the time, she still gets a rash. We use 'pop-ins' which are bamboo inside. My question is, do you find some diapers encourage rash more than others? And also, are prefolds considerably less bulky than pockets or all in twos? I have a Thirsties and a Bottom Bumper and they both seem to have less bulk. I just got those in the mail . Thanks.

He need to put the diapers and not cloth diapers for him. So please do change the diapers is better way to do it and You need to do cut front of little bit diaper with scissors and put the cloth diapers are tighter. I would like to see you there. Can you do that for me.
They are pretty bulky on newborns, but once the baby is old enogh to care about the bulk, they have grown in to them. In my opinion they are MUCH more comfortable than plastic and paper!
They do seem bulky compared with disposables, but it's actually REALLY good for babies to have that bulk between their legs to help the hips develop. In the "olden days" one of the cures for clicky hips was to use two cloth nappies to keep the legs "frogged" (ie the legs go out and the feet turn out) as this keeps the hips in a good position until the hip socket ossifies properly. My 3 year old wore cloth and met all her physical milestones early, so they don't hold them back at all.
The waterproof part is called a cover, and the snappi is availabe at several online stores. Just google "snappi cloth diaper" and you'll find tons of options!

When did you start using the prefold diaper? I am wondering if this diaper would be good for a new born.

One thing I'm concerned about with prefolds is is it uncomfortable for the baby?
