Anyways, I just wanted to say that the mandarin word for crisis is comprised of two words: danger and opportunity. This destruction we are wreaking is a natural process of evolution, much like a baby in the birth canal. To paraphrase Mckenna, It is a period of high risk for both the baby (us) and the mother (earth)... Of course, sometimes the baby and/or mother dies. Lets do our best to ensure otherwise.

I would not quite call the current period an "opportunity". The fact that humankind is destabilizing the range of environmental conditions that favor or allow life on earth over a period of time of decades is insufficient to allow natural transformations. Rather than continued existence with transformations, such changes should be viewed as the possible approaching extinction of mankind ... sadly self-inflicted.

You do know it's a bit ironic that he touts us as giving birth to a new Era, when without our twin input of overpopulation and use of tech this ELE, coming out of the Pleistocene, might not have even made it to the Epoch designation -- Literary license I suppose. The rest of it about the green economy and understanding the ultimate value of things is solid. I suppose there's always hope.
