  • @TheMarkster1957 this scene didn't actually happened why you may ask because this whole soap beating of Pyle... " is a dream sequence by Pyle !!! This film had subliminal hidden messages like many of kubricks films are .

  • i feel soo bad for himmm....

  • if that happened to me I would go to each one of those cocksuckers, break their necks and then cut their balls off and make them eat it.

  • On the bed is the face of an alien, he hits the face with the soap and towel..

  • Hmm. This makes me think twice of why that mohawk guy from the Modern Warfare series was nicknamed "Soap."

  • So THAT'S where Family Guy got it from

  • You know he had to wear a cup for that scene.

  • Is it wrong that I find this video clip very sexually arousing?

  • 10 people were beaten with soap!

  • poor pyle.

  • poor pyle.

  • Poor Pyle.

  • You know good n well Hartman had to have heard this going on,but he gave these guys permission to use whatever means nessesary to straighten this guy out.

  • @TheMarkster1957 I always envisioned Hartman slightly opening the door and peeking out. His thoughts would be, "Well, they finally gave him the motivation that I said that he needed. I shouldn't have anymore problems with him."

  • I wish the draft was reinstated.

  • Love the music in this scene.

  • What you expect Private Pyle? Just because he liked to eat jelly donuts the rest of the squad took the punishment in his behalf. All this guys were pissed off seeing Pyle eating jelly donuts while they had to do 100 push-ups just because Pyle can't shut his stomach. The lesson? Never do things that would badly affect all your team, or you'll be the one taking the hard hit. Fat buddy learned that. :D

  • @GMVC2 Later on Fat Boy took out the source of power that enforced the whole routine of the regiment. And it was the only representation of rebellion in the entire movie.

  • @YettiYogiBear Yeah, I wouldn't expect anything less from the fat buddy. It was the representation of a depressed man unable to bear the reality and move on. The fatty choosed the lame shortcut to deal with his obstacles by killing. He really was a piece of amfibian sh*t after all.

  • Hats off to the actor who played Private Pyle, he was told to gain 70lbs for the role.

  • Well at least he didn't get hit in the nuts...oh wait

  • i cried when i wached this movie poor pyle

  • pyle is not fat hes good for his size in the army.... the captins is a complete idiot

  • Sooo fucked up. My grandpa showed me this movie (he was in the marines) and i seriously almost cried during this part. Just because somebody has a shitload of problems and fucks everything up, doesn't mean you need to gangbeat his poor ass. Try to help him out a bit. Like he really needs any more problems.

  • That's fucked up"it's just a bad dream fatboy

  • Fuck dude thats fucked up!! If I was Private Pyle I would have fucking shot Jokers bitch ass too.. And fuck cowboy hes the one who put it together I'm glad the fucking QUEER (from Texas) got killed.. Would have killed as many as I could have in that platoon too fucking Coward mother fuckers!!!!!

  • @tryfe10 but Joker was forced man you saw how he hesitated

  • @TonyMontannapotts But he also hit him harder IMO than the other recruits did...

  • @TonyMontannapotts Joker probably figured that if he didn't, he'd be next. Pyle could have killed him, but he didn't. He killed the source of his misery, the DI. I'm surprised that he didn't go out after Cowboy, since he instigated it. But that little gook bitch took care of him later. Not to mention 8-Ball, Doc, Crazy Earl, Hand Job and Lt. Touchdown. That's what happens when you are the invading army. And that's what the US was.

  • @tryfe10 - Which is exactly the reason military units do blanket parties on individualists like you Tryfe. An entire unit can be killed because of the one fuck-up that makes a noise, or is too slow, or not disciplined at the right moment. The blanket party is the last attempt to get the shitbird in line before he gets himself or others killed. If you raged against your own unit you would die. This is a last resort before that step.

  • @tryfe10 No. Pyle didn't go after Joker because he knew that Joker was his friend. Joker really didn't want to hit Pyle, but he knew that if he didn't, he'd be next. What would have been fitting is if Hartman would have said, "Pvt Pyle! You just fucked with me for the last time BAM!" Pyle: "I know what he wanted to do. He wanted to fuck Charlene. Dirty son of a bitch."

  • @mkl62 I still would have blew Jokers brains out..

  • @tryfe10 It's a wonder that Joker didn't go to Colonel's Mast for that. He stood there and did nothing while Pyle loaded the rifle. Also, when Pyle was struggling to get over the obstacle earlier, the camera zoomed in on Cowboy. But I don't know why.

  • I feel so bad for the guy, all he wanted to do was get through boot camp and it wasn't his fault he was overweight and a fuck up. Some people just arent cut out for the marines. The guys in the movie who beat him don't know jack about what it is to be a a marine, a real marine will always be there for a fellow soldier, no matter how much they fuck up.

  • @Intoxiqated Bullshit. I was a real Marine, and a guy that is going to get his unit killed because he is a fuck-up will never make it to combat. He will receive a blanket party to straighten himself up. Marines try hard to get everyone combat-ready, but when you want to get home alive to see your family, you don't help the fuck up.

  • @TheCmac1966 Too bad in a couple of scenes later the recruit ended up gunning down his DI and blowing his own brains out, so with all due respect sir, tell me again, how does beating someone with soap help them?

  • theyre not marines.

    they're fucking ninjas.

  • in real life a person of his physical health and mental wellbeing wouldn't be accepted into the marines to begin with

  • @9tome6 To be fair, terrible soldiers beating him didn't help with either his health or well-being and pushed him over the edge. That's sort of the point of the movie, how terrible war is what it does to people (even the ones we associate typically as the 'good guys').

  • @TrueLancer BINGO! That's what makes the movie so moving and disturbing. There are just so many brilliantly cruel ironic moments in this film.

  • @9tome6 Now maybe but back when this movie was supposed to take place uncle sam drafted anyone that wasnt rich.

  • @skillcoiler Really? I know fairly little about war history but I thought there was no conscription in the Vietnam war

  • @9tome6 There was no conscription only the commies do that the good ole Uncle Sam called it a draft pretty much same thing only real difference was you got a notice and a few weeks to report in before they labeled you a criminal instead of just grabbed off the street and we had deferments that went to the connected.

  • Cowboy was a ninja heading back into the bed

  • what pain, they had to be more than pissed off to do dat 2 him

  • @soldierdudem4 oh yes, i would imagine! when i first saw this as a youngster, my dad explained to me that when u served and the drill srgt or whatever picked out the biggest fuck-up of the group and made everyone pay everytime he or she fucked something up, it was a shitass type way of bringing the soldiers together and encouraging more efficient teamwork and self-improvement even. when the fuck-up keeps fucking up, it indicates he doesn't care => blanket party or equivalent.

  • @Adarvuli well ur lucky, i just saw dis movie about a week ago and only saw half of it and i love it anyways

  • @soldierdudem4 well considering that Sgt Hartman decreed that everytime Pyle screws up THEY get punished for it...

  • @robkillcz It's called "Leonard" on the Full Metal Jacket soundtrack CD (The music was composed by Stanley Kubrick's wife under the pseudonym Abigail Mead)

  • does anyone know, the name of that song ?

  • this scene is funny

  • what was in the pillow cases

  • @robertlynn100 Bar of soap.

  • @robertlynn100 bar of soap is featured here. when i was this movie for the first time as a kid, my dad told me they sometimes use like a coke can, shoe, rock, or deodorant bar or any little thing like that, anything u can wrap in a towel and whack the fuck out of someone with, basically :)

  • I felt bad, but then again

he should've never had the jelly doughnut in the foot locker

next time don't try to sneak in food when you're not suppose to

or at least hide it in a better spot

  • @Peoples17Champ or he should have gobbled it down before inspection the dumb dumb

  • @Peoples17Champ in any type of military related training or serving, the moral of the story is to behave PERIOD! i wouldnt DARE get out of line or slack off, especially after seeing this movie for the first time when i was seven. he should have got his head out of his ass before he enlisted or got drafted or whatever, knowing what serious business this kind of training is; that's no place to act clueless about! r lee ermey rules, btw

  • @Adarvuli

totally agree with you man, but yet people still feel sorry for him

  • I feel bad for the platoon listening to Pvt Pyle's crying all night long till the rising sun.

  • WTF were they hitting him with?

  • dude he had a boner after hahahhahahha

  • This is a code red. Blanket party

\ is a term of the army.

  • they actually fucking hurt

  • If Forrest Gump can do it then so could have Pile

  • @sotanski what the actual fuck? What the fuck does that have to do with anything

  • Owwwww owwww owwwwwwwww!

  • I don't think Pyle had the brainpower or guts to be a marine.

But even still , no one deserves this. No one.

  • Worst soap commercial ever!

  • @PenelopeFuckwarrior hahahaha!!! :)

  • im not gonna lie a tear came out my eyes when spider hit him with the soap very messed up man very and sad

  • I would have ripped all their dicks off when they went to sleep

  • 1. 2. 3. 4. i love the marine core.

  • He shouldn't off got treated like that, they could off just discharge him with the document saying "failure to adapt to a military standards", but i guess Marines do it different.

  • I remember watching this scene for the first time. I nearly cried for the poor guy. It made me hate the military even more. But, why didn't this actor get nominated for academy award at the very least? His acting was PHENOMENAL.

  • @cutis1000 "It made me hate the military even more."

Please note that this is a 100% fictional movie.

  • @cutis1000 WTF man worse shit happens I promise you! If you weren't cut out for it don't do it! Seriously

  • @JoeJLuver72 My reply was to cutis1000, who claimed this scene 'made them hate the military even more.' If someone has a problem with the military, that's their business and I won't argue it with them, but basing hatred on a fictional movie is absurd.

I'm not saying stuff like this hasn't happened or doesn't happen, I'm saying this movie is a work of fiction, nothing more.

  • @cutis1000 Well this time in history our military was fucked up with the draft. Remember a guy like this in the 60's was probably drafted and had no reason or want to be there. I like our military now because its only people that want to be there.

  • @brasteen1 I respect your answer. Thank you.

  • ***nelson laugh*** HAH HAH!!

  • this actually almost made me cry, this is so messed up

  • People think this is funny? :(

  • @YorkJonhson Anyone who thinks that this is funny is less than human.

  • The music in this scene, the scene where Gomer Pile kills himself & the serg, & the scene where they kill the sniper always creeped me out. Never forgot it! It's very memorable................

  • this kind of thing has always happened in the military service-sometimes called a Code Red and even ordered by the commanding officer like in "A Few Good Men." It's a harsh way to get a fuck up/clown to get back in line and pull his weight.

  • Comment removed

  • ...Wow. All I can say is wow.

  • Why is this happening?!

  • @HardcoreAssKickinWiZ Because Hart man forced them to do pushups after the jelly donut so now they are hurting him with soap bars in towels for doing the pushups.

  • I served as a conscript in the late eighties in the Finnish Navy, and our boot camp was pretty similar as described in the movie. The blanket parties, called "sukkasaippua" (sock soap) in finnish were a usual way on putting a troublesome recruit back to line. Other feat was dragging him to cold shower with clothes on or putting his head to toilet and flushing. Since we all were conscripts, there were a lot of misfits amongst us. Of course, we were childish cocks full of testosterone.

  • I often cite this movie whenever I've been in a position (personal details withheld) concerning Military enrollment. I basically told an "officer of the armed forces" that if I was ever hazed or treated in any way or similar fashion as depicted, by example, in this video. That I would retaliate with homocide. Property of the goverment my ass.

  • What the hell did I just watched?

  • wow, what a bitch

  • Wow what a whiner.

  • txman your a tawt

  • At least they didn't use their combination locks.

  • In my opinion, modern war is a conspiracy to enact natural selection against the lower class.

  • @DragoonBoom and what, in your opinion, is evidence of that?

  • The entire film can be looked at as a statement on conformity. One guy goes insane in trying to conform(pyle),and one becomes more apathetic by it(joker).

  • When I first saw him i thought he had some mental deficiency. His existence in the film, in my opinion, is to illustrate how the military use the draft to grab people to field soldier on the battlefield just to die and how so many lives were destroyed. If you look at the statistics of the war most of the people made to fight and die were overwhelmingly the poor or minorities and only after they instituted a more fair lottery did politicians, seeing the middle class suffer, stop the war

  • Would slit each of their throats in their sleep one...by one....by one.

  • @Evangelist0121 My thoughts exactly.

  • i was so sad when i seen it but it serves him right to a point. it was wrong to beat him because this caused him to go sycoo. but i could barely watch that part. dont sneek jelly donuts dude

  • Chris from family guy brought me here lol

  • Marines are supposed to be brothers and stick together. This is sad too see.

  • am i the only one who feels sorry for this guy? i mean he was drafted, and clearly has some sort of mental disability?

  • @ares784512 your not the only one

  • @ares784512 You don't need to have a mental disabillity to break apart under such circumstances.

There have been real "sane" people been breaking out of nowhere for less.

  • @ares784512

Dude, I'm in the Marines, and I get misty eyed every time I see this scene.

  • @ares784512 I think that's the point.

  • @ares784512 Gomer Pyle was a weak person! That's the reson why he went crazy! It's like he couldn't face reallyty! It's definetly not a mental disabillity!

  • exactly.. reality is brutal, the world isnt all sunshines and rainbows...survival of the fittest!!

  • @neverwin189 true, true!

  • @ares784512 Mental? No, just not the proper mindset for a soldier. He went over the deep end and became a crazed killer. Pyle failed because he was not physically and psychologically cut out to be a Marine. During the Vietnam War, standards did drop for recruits during drafting.

  • @ares784512 No,your not the only one.I felt sorry for him too.Even though it was a movie he didnt belong there.

  • @ares784512 I always felt bad for him. As as a slightly over-weight lover of jelly donuts who would shit his pants if the draft was ever reinstated, I totally simpathize.

  • @3234718 lol man jelly donuts FTW!!!!!

  • @3234718 same here

  • @3234718

I always felt bad for him too.

  • @ares784512 no i am too i actually cried when he cried in pain during this scene =;(

  • @spongebob7681 yeah i felt really bad for the guy, i mean he ends up freakin killin himself

  • @ares784512 yeh but i got over it and i don't cry about this scene anymore, i cried in the movie theater

  • @ares784512 I would feel sorry for him if he were an actual person.

  • @DHINTON7295 comon dude your telling me you sat there emotionless while that happened?

    and when he killed himself?

  • @ares784512 ya i no wat u mean

  • @ares784512 Must be some sort of autism or whatnot. I know Forrest Gump made it ahead of Pyle.

  • I would kill all those fuckers.

  • i never saw the movie and i kinda wanna kno why they pwned him... but still it was funny XD

  • He totally got owned

  • @Jv40k1 yeah, I agree.

  • He pops a boner after getting beat?

  • Lol

  • Man America sucks dick for makn this part of the movie

  • Instead of killing himself, he should have shot that redneck cowboy and several of the others!

  • is it bad that i laughed a little during this? i just remember family guy doing a version of this and i cant take it seriously..

  • I know for in real life that Pyle would of caught a glimpse of the guy calling him a fatboy. I would take combat boot and beat his four eye faggot ass to oblivion. Break some jaws n' shit...

  • If I was Pvt. Pyle I would massacre the entire platoon his M14. That would even out the scores for me if I were him.

  • this made me laugh so hard

  • This is fuck all. We used to do this to the first person who fell asleep at a house party all the time. Sure as hell beats shaving their eyebrows.

  • Why do people think this is funny? This is sad.

  • This scene is symbolic, its their first time working as a unit. I wonder though, how bad could bars of soap really hurt?

  • @Hellblazer311<-----Could somebody tell this guy how bars of soap hurt?

  • @baron8107 better yet can someone show him

  • @hamarr934 In what sense do you mean that?

  • so this is where that family guy scene came from.

  • You know he wore a cup for that scene!

  • When I was in basic training during my Army days, there was this big fat Korean guy who was the Private Pyle of our platoon. His last name was Kim. The drill sargeants use to call him Lil Kim after the female rapper. He always use to get chewed the fuck out. Felt sorry for the dude. That's what this scene reminds me of

  • This clip feature SH-T......Soap Hidden In Towel

  • Funny Ass Shit!

  • @publica74 not if it happens to you

  • wankers

  • LMFAO!!! XD

  • this scene was a bit much because there is alway a few rocks in every platoon they just singled out plye and put him in the spot light , there was not one recruit who was picture perfect in boot camp , everyone took the platoon to the pit and the quarter deck from time to time , and there are those who hide in the ranks and are missed by the drill instructors because the drill instructors are singling out just a few recruits as a former marine I know better, plye did not desreve this at all.

  • @TheAlpha5000 hahahahahaha your a girl haha

  • i have a brother who served and he PARTICIPATED in this kinda thing and the guy they did it to left along with others that werrent fit to be in the military so this is just a scene of doing the normal hes good hes bad thing and also if this happens to anyone who reads this or has happened i should say then you probably arent fit to be in the army

  • @Matttheweatherman13 I could tell that you have never served, it is quite obvious! I served during the cold war and this is the kind of punishment that weaklings got, you know people in the military, don't we all, what does that prove! I actually served in the military when it was still a man's military not this pussified military they have now! I am glad that you never have served because you would probably would have got your whole platoon killed with your weakling attitude!

  • I thought this was pretty sad. I don't know how I would go back to sleep after something like that. Especially with all the verbal abuse and stress of that came with being in boot camp. My guess is that he was always a laid back person that everyone got along with but when it came to performing the tasks the military were trying to train him to do they pushed him so hard he wanted to push back.

  • Hahahaha Gomer Pyle screams like a little bitch!

  • @CloudStrife01992 Something tells me that you would scream worse lol just kidding

  • Boot camp is designed to weed out the weak from the strong and in this case, it did weed out the weak which is Pyle and probably you I assume. Sometimes there are inadvertent casualities along the way, hence the drill instructor, but better one person then a whole platoon! I would say Boot Camp did what it was suppose to do, which is to weed out the weak! I served, I doubt you have ever served, or you would not be defending the weak! I wouldn't want Pyle or you serving along side of me!

  • If you look closely. They're not just hitting his stomach. They're hitting him all over except his face. He probably even got hit in the dick for all we know. That shi had to hurt like crazy

  • @TheCurleyG Drafted man, drafted. These people were drafted. And yeah, I would want them to be savages. Can't expect a normal person to be willing to run a bayonet through someone elses head.

  • Gomer Pyle clearly had some kind of mental disability. He was probably treated this badly in some way all his life. The army only being worse because he was surrounded by strangers in addition to the abuse with no chance of escape to any kind of temporary emotional sanctuary.

  • @SanFranGirl1982 Actually, he was more than likely drafted. If you watch the whole movie you will see how he snuck jelly donuts into the squad bay. This was the Marines and not the Army. He made the whole platoon pay for his screw ups. They merely gave him some "pay back". It's a sad sitution, but after this incident he starts to turn himself around. This isn't training to teach someone how to work at Starbucks, it's training to to send someone into a jungle with an M-14 and hunt the VC.

  • @Txman1996 - He didnt "turn himself around." He lost his fucking mind. As you said, he was probably drafted, meaning this wasn't his choice to be there. If he was drafted and not willingly enlisted, then he probably knew that the military wasn't for him. So to show up and have someone try and force and break you to be something you're not is dangerous. Mental instability doesnt help anyone during war.....
