YOU SUCK! What is wrong with you? I wasn't going to comment on this crappy video, but i couldn't help myself. This video didn't teach me a damn thing.
@jakeguitar01 Not sure what teaching moment you were looking for? I don't remember stating anywhere that it was supposed to be a training video. I am amazed though at your well structured constructive criticism. Not sure any video I would do could rise to your level of need.
im thinking about trying the free trial but not sure if i should get the desktop or portable scanner? which one is better? i am assuming the desktop is better and faster
@antwonza It really depends on your application. If you travel a lot and want to scan on the road, the portable scanner is the one to use. But, portable does not have instant double-sided scanning (by instead I mean that the desktop actually has two scanning bars that scan the front/back at the same time as the documents/receipts get pulled through.
@antwonza Yes, the desktop is faster in scanning since you also do not have to manually feed it one page at a time, and turn it around if you need to scan front/back. The draw back of the desktop is that it takes up more desk space and requires separate power supply, while the portable uses USB power.
@antwonza Someone commented that in the video it pulled two receipts at the same time. That is generally not an issue and really depends on how "crumbled up", dirty/sticky, static, moist the receipts are. I have scanned thousands of receipts and documents over the years, and this happens only with "bad" paper, and I have even experienced this with professional office scanners/copiers. Nothing the scanner can do when paper sticks to each other.
wow it sucks, scansnap is better, thanks for the review, it has helped me with my choices. I don't know if anyone has noticed it has skipped one receipt, and it pauses at the end. scansnap is faster and has a sensor that prevent skipping pages
Most places I deal with accept digital copies, even print outs of receipts. Nowadays almost everyone is used to doing business by email and other electronic means. Even the IRS is fine with just having the digital copies.
That said, there are definitely some documents I will always keep around on paper due to their sensitivity, but even than, even at least a digital copy makes sense.
Ya, about that "first" receipt that was actually two, I was wondering about that... I think he does a good job at selling this product. He must have some sort of stakes in this product's sales or he would have at least mentioned the machines potential to goof up - as it did in this video.
@missvickie1975 You are right, in doing the demo I only had one hand available and couldn't manage the receipts really well. Just like with an ordinary copy machine, from time to time receipts can get stuck together due to moisture, static, or bad crumbling. Obviously not something the scanner can take care off, just like any expensive copy machine it requires human interaction.
I am not related in any way to NeatCo though but love their products and have used them for many years.
I only keep the receipts that I need for my health savings account to submit (unfortunately AETNA does not accept electronic copies yet). Additionally, any other documents that must be kept in paper copy I keep. The rest, I recycle directly or run through my shredder which sits almost next to the scanner and recycle. I would say I keep maybe 2-3% of the paperwork I scan.
OK, so the video is shaky and the voice/accent won't get him a job on prime time TV...BUT, he does give a real world view of the scanner working.
Thanks for posting the video!

What good is this if digital copies are not accepted?
I still must keep important papers.

So what do you do with the receipts? Don't you keep the ones that you need and throw the rest away?
