There are those here who don't agree with PP&M's politics, and it's difficult sometimes to get past that, after all they sang protest songs, no? Let me suggest, however, that whatever your politics are, it's tough to argue that this is not a beautiful and moving song. This particular performance is not the "tightest", and it is intentionally slow so the audience can sing along, but if this doesn't put a lump in your throat, maybe you need a lobotomy, or a little less "I have a scheme" man.
"Study war no more"?! Who was it that said "Those who don't study the past are doomed to repeat it" Incredibly naive! I remember being fed these pinkos in schools and church when I was a kid--beautiful melodies/singing, though!
@amp3cx10000a7jp Man is not foolish, Man i capable of great things. We can show anger greater than hells fury, but we can show love brighter than love. Love and Hate is in human nature, we cant hide ethier of them no matter who hard we try.
When will we see another talent like Mary? You have finally found your peace. And we've lost such a treasure. Rest in Peace. And thanks to such a great trio.
Thank you, themusicisyou, for posting this video. This brings back many wonderful memories of both a Peter, Paul & Mary concert and the wonderful people of Japan.
Thank you Mary..the more I am listening to these songs again, the more proud I am of what the people in the 60s faught against and faught for. We need a PP&M spiritual awakening in this country again.!!
I love this version even better than any of the earlier versions. Far more impact. Such a lovely voice. Mary will be missed. God Bless you. She's singing in a heavenly choir now.
one of my all time favorites. unfortunately cannonballs still fly, people are still oppressed, and Injustice and Apartheid are alive and well in Israel.
When I heard this song as a teenager in the 60s I considered this the lyrics to be very profound and in 2009 the lyrics are equally profound and relevant.

They were great music makers of the 60's... great sound... but do not agree with their politics... think about it... the line was drawn... after Vietnam the commies did not expand any more in Asia... President Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon said enough is enough... the commies were stopped... are you ready to live under a socialist dictatorship ... why do so many people try to sneak into the US? -- music great but politics wrong
And the tears that come with these words and the feelings are still true today.Have we lost our minds in thinking that advancement in this world today will be better for us? Or does it just project us into a world of confusion. Thanks PPM, for keeping our hearts alive

A Top 5 hit for Peter, Paul and Mary in August 1963. This song would hit #1 on the newly formed Adult Contemporary charts.

About 50 years have already passed since this song goes out to this world.
Nevertheless, the war doesn't disappear.
Person and person's killing one another occurs now here and there all over the world.
When the Vietnam war ended, was it already a fantasy in the war not to think it might be?
Man is foolish.
