i found my way here b/c i was looking around for info on mushrooms growing in compost spontaneously, which is what i found today when i went to turn it. it would be awesome if they were edible, but i dunno. anyway, the only thing i really found concerning what i should do is turn the compost more often. any thoughts?
in the meantime, i would definately love to grow mushrooms on purpose..lol.
I can't wait till I get my own place. I'm going to grow everything I consume, it's going to be a funcking jungle. I was just stopping by to see how well mushrooms do if you just inoculate straight compost. They say your supposed to be sterile, I believe you just need to make sure the mycelium establishes it's self before bacteria or mold does.

Although having your own place does have it's advantages you can still grow on a small scale. Are you doing any gardens or patio pots? I actually put in colonized grain in the compost but...I am going CRAZY in the yard this spring with mushroom growing. Keep watching!
It has more to do with living with three people in a two bedroom house. And they have no idea about horticulture, my grandma insist on throw grass cuttings and leaves in the trash. She uses fertiliers and weed killer, she even uses pesticides on her plants.
holy crap, you live in Chatham? my brother lives there. this is wicked, I wish I'd known more Youtubers in southwestern Ontario when I lived in Windsor. I mean not that Toronto's so far away but still... I look forward to seeing more from you.
The thing about saying that mushrooms have twice the amount of protein can be misleading. Meat is still a better choice for protein because of the human body's seventeen essential amino acids.
