@znarf541 Unemployment was 6% at the end of Bush's 2nd term, and remained less than 5% until Dems took over Congress in 2007. Only after the election of Obama did it rise above 6% (yes before he took office - because businesses are smart and started canning people because they knew the pain was coming).
Google "Unemployment Rates" and look at the chart, if I am wrong (I'm not) tell me. You can see the rate rise in '07 then again in Nov. 08. & just keeps skyrocketing up since.

@Ozmator - people should also look at the deficit spending. It hit a high in FY '04 and then was declining until FY '07. In FY '08 (the first budget passed by the Democrat Congress) we had the highest deficit in Bush's 8 years. Then in '09 Reid and Pelosi passed continuing resolutions, bypasing the budget process, until Obama came in and they passed that huge onibus spending bill. People need to get the facts instead of what talking heads say on the "news".
There is plenty to blame on Bush for those on both sides of the isle. I feel it would be much more productive to debate policies & issues instead of parties & cults of personality.

Iraq and Afghanistan have not burned up great numbers of our gdp either. china looks to be sitting on a large bubble itself and would not be the threat it is now had it not been for our weakening. sure there are factors involved but none as much as the housing crisis.

@znarf541 Unemployment was 6% at the end of Bush's 2nd term, and remained less than 5% until Dems took over Congress in 2007. Only after the election of Obama did it rise above 6% (yes before he took office - because businesses are smart and started canning people because they knew the pain was coming).
Google "Unemployment Rates" and look at the chart, if I am wrong (I'm not) tell me. You can see the rate rise in '07 then again in Nov. 08. & just keeps skyrocketing up since.

@Ozmator - people should also look at the deficit spending. It hit a high in FY '04 and then was declining until FY '07. In FY '08 (the first budget passed by the Democrat Congress) we had the highest deficit in Bush's 8 years. Then in '09 Reid and Pelosi passed continuing resolutions, bypasing the budget process, until Obama came in and they passed that huge onibus spending bill. People need to get the facts instead of what talking heads say on the "news".
