Google for the "X-Copy Shrine" and you will find a site that showcases all X-Copy versions ever released, and they do include the music tracks that you asked about, just load them up in WinUAE (the amiga emulator) :)
Yeah, the most important tool back in that days, absolutely no doubt about it. ;) Antivirus software was second, to kill that nasty little Lama Exterminators...
Yo HO Yo HO a pirates life for me. Can't remember if it was X-Copy that played that sample when you launched it or another bit copier like maybe Bit Nibbler.
@daedalus9 "Killsys" kills the operating system (and disables multitasking), freeing memory. It allows you to copy the whole floppy in a single run on Amigas with 1MB of RAM.
I feel an incredible peace watching this. You've even got the obligatory bad blocks at the end.
I guess this is emulating a 'posh' Amiga (although it does look a bit like the Atari version, been a while can't really tell) as it can do the whole thing in one sweep without having to have the disks swapped near the end.
Does anyone else think it was amazing the way the Amiga could read AND write disks at the same time?
hey i had a copy of x-copy bak in the day, not sure what version, but the copy i had, had a menu before this screen which had multiple options (maybe different programs) and the last option was some sort of music program which had an awsome tune, i havent heard it in ages, i wonder if anyone knows what song im talking about? pls reply so i can return 2 thread.
@pehmomarsu I meant laffo16 previously btw, not amiger :P
I still got various X-Copy original disks from back in the day at my friends place, I'll go and check them out during the weekend, I am sure the tune is on there! :)
I remember copying discs and if there were bad tracks I'd nibble copy those tracks.. almost always works. Sometimes I'd use another cracked disk of same game to copy over the tracks.. x-copy rules.
oh this is great.. its been ages since ive seen these programs.. i can here the clicking too.... i had a hardware made from the d23 plugs.. i think thats what theyre called..

What did Killsys actually do? I used to always do it because that was the way I'd been taught, but never really knew why?

For extra authenticity try changing the settings to 512K RAM + single floppy in order to get the change over on track 40...

I'm not sure because my memory is hazy though I think the disk writing here is about twice the speed as it was on a A500. I could be wrong..
