I liked the video, but it ignores one fact.

Many mothers don't care about their kids. My 8 siblngs and I suffer from FAS as adults (not a lot of fun) and trace it to our mother's alcoholism.

More babies meant more welfare, which meant more booze. Period.

Why mention this? Reality is reality: trying to prevent FAS by appealing to a shaky sense of maternal altruism alone puts more families at risk.

Maybe, back it up: incarcerate delinquent moms like we do deadbeat dads?

Not all mothers are just ignorant. Some of them just don't give a fuck. My mother for one did drugs and drank with me and my younger brother and sister. It is very lucky that none of us are deformed or retarded. We all do have learning disabilities but not very bad. I can pass for normal, it just takes me a little longer to learn things.

My brother was born addicted to crack. I remember he would shake and scream constantly.

you mean... there is EVIDENCE that alcool WILL affect your baby. It's one of the worst thing. It destroy your cells (cellules) and you just loose it cause once you're born they're just gone, you can create more. Of course, we've got millions but it still make a HUDGE difference

It's hard not to blame the mother. FAS wasn't "discovered" in the 1980's. It was known for years before that alcohol would harm the fetus. In the eary 1970's my parents had a neighbor who drank heaviy and her children all had visible birth defects. Everyone agreed it was the alcohol.
