Can we get a brainstorming going about what's this song's lyrics all about? From what I've understood, there's a guy getting deeper and deeper in a river asking god for help and at the end he dies "Now I'm all alone and the fires grows". I'm not sure what the river symbolize, nor what the 3rd and 5th verse refer to. I guess the river is something related to all the sins he has made and those verses are his past life? Anyone cares to contribute with their interpretiation?

@asdFRap Its about a fella in the shit. Life fucked up and trying to get out of a hole. He knows he fucked up and knows that getting out of the hole will not be easy and some of the shit will stick no matter what he does. In the end it does not say if he got out or not but he is trying.

@asdFRap I'm not religious, but I view it as an angel (Lucifer?) slowly falling from grace. The more he succumbs to his dark desires (the 'river'), the more powerful feats he can achieve. He sees what he is becoming and constantly asks God for help, but is told he must help himself. In the final verse, he is outcast but attempts to bargain his way back to his previous station by threatening that humanity will suffer otherwise. That's the literal interpretation, anyway. It could be metaphor.
