  • Why don't we secede again?!!!

  • Stonewall = the ultimate badass

  • You have to have balls to go after Commanche.

Fort Clarke was a post out in the middle of no mans land.

  • Why do they salute with an open palm? The open-palmed salute is done by a conquered nation. The CSA had not yet been conquered.

  • @PookieDude1 That`s just the way they saluted back then

  • @PookieDude1 thats wrong. Its the british way of saluting.

  • @BerenMace Yes, it is. But the reason why the British salute that way is because they were defeated by us in the American Revolution.

  • @PookieDude1 no. The british Army salute that way even today. Their Salut is older than yours. Not all things in the World are because of you americans.

  • @PookieDude1 Got any proof of that statement about the open-palm?

  • Look at what we have now. Gigantic cities polluting the air with industry. Over 20 million illegal immigrants, a currency that is worth nothing, ongoing Wars of aggression and policing all over the world, an omnipotent Wall Street that does whatever it pleases, a towering debt that keeps getting bigger. The list goes on. The destruction of Nullification was the countries downfall.

  • @ItNice26 Just as Jackson predicted. America is a corrupt cesspool of greed, corruption, and avarice.

  • @patriotofliberty1776

America may now be governed by those you described but at her heart she is still the brightest beacon of freedom and the last best hope for mankind.

  • @71superbee3 America is not what it was anymore my friend. The Generations like the early 20th Century are lost to the pages of history. Everything Stonewall is saying here is insidious in nature. It took time for us to realize that big government and wall street have destroyed us economically, and the socialists now have their hooks in.

  • Gee, it only took about 130 years for Stonewalls predictions to come to fruition.

  • If there is one thing I do not like about this movie it is the dialogue. It's way too good. People did not talk like this back then. They wrote letters like this, and it's obvious the writers wanted to use the General's own words here, but it detracts from the quality of the film by making these men and women a bit too un-relatable to the audience.

  • Any posts that disparage the memory of any solider from either side will be expunged by me, post haste. They WILL NOT BE TOLERATED....

If need be, I will activate the "no comment" option. If one can not honor their memory then don't post. Remember, REMEMBER !!! The grandsons of both sides fought and died, shoulder to shoulder in the The Battle of Belleau Wood, 1918 under the Stars and Stripes. As well as all across Europe in WW II and are comrades to this day !

  • I would have followed Stonewall into the Jaws of Hell.

  • Looking at this movie it's about the Life and Exploits of Stonewall Jackson more then Robert E. Lee

  • There goes the best dressed man in the confederate army.

  • @eazyrider17 That would actually be General Isaac Trimble.

  • > The black flag usually refers to military combatants. When the killing spills over into civilians as well its referred to as Total war. aka "Sherman's tactics."

I'm not a huge fan of the North's choosing to fight; nevertheless, your notion of Sherman, a very common one, is mistaken. There's no evidence that he tolerated violence against civs - as opposed to destruction of civ property, which I'm sure lead to some number of deaths. It seems he may well have shorted the war, though.

  • i love how Jackson is like " you have an excellent service record, served on the frontier fighting appaches and such, and was an excellent cadet at west point. but what i find most impressive that makes you most qualified to be in charge of Calvary is that your from Virginia"

  • @erikgiles1 The Black Flag does not mean total war. It means giving no quarter to enemy soldiers. There's a difference. For example, contrast the total war battle of Leningrad where over a million civilians were killed vs the Battle of the Alamo where the Black Flag was given yet women children and Negros were spared.

As for sides generally losing if they attack civilians nothing could be further from the truth. Attacking civilians has been a successful strategy of war for thousands of years.

  • The black flag usually refers to military combatants. When the killing spills over into civilians as well its referred to as Total war.

    aka "Sherman's tactics."

  • The Black Flag refers to war, war without limitation. Essentially, kill or be killed, and that applies to all on the opposing side: women, children; destroy all possessions and property.

I believe the historical reference originates from the Jolly Roger, flown by pirates upon occasion.

  • With the Black flag you take no prisoner, All of the Enemy is put to Death.

  • the black flag meant No quarter...as in take No prisoners. Here in Missouri is a prime example. When the yanks declared war on MO, it was flooded with yanks like cockroaches. The partisan rangers/guerillas were left to guard the homes/towns. They took prisoners @ 1st. But the yanks didNt recognize these devasting frustrating defenders, so they said they would kill & NOt take them prisoners. In return the P.R.s said NO QUARTER (EQUALITY). Quantrill's black flag was born. Piss on them INVADERS!

  • Black flag= take no prisoners at all!

  • Can anyone tell me what is this Black Flag he's talking about ?

  • @Ciorexxx

It is the opposite of the white flag of surrender.

It is the flag of war.

  • @71superbee3 The Black Flag means no quarter. Death to the wounded, no prisoners, no mercy. Stonewall Jackson was a brilliant genius bordering on slightly mad. He was a devout christian who viewed the invasion of the south as an evil betrayal. You could study him your whole life and barely know the man.

  • @Ciorexxx it means to kill all of them. take no prisioners

  • @Ciorexxx no mercy...you kill everyone...even the surrendering soldiers...no mercy...

  • @Ciorexxx The black flag represents "no retreat, no surrender, and no mercy".

I don't know who first started it but Blucher used it.

  • @Ciorexxx

No quarter whatsoever, no prisoners to be taken..

  • @Ciorexxx

It means No Quarter will be given

  • @Ciorexxx The Black Flag means "Show no quarter" aka Show no mercy

  • @Ciorexxx The Black Flag when displayed in battle means that the unit flying it will give no quarter (i.e. no POW's taken) to the enemy and generally will not seek quarter themselves but will fight to the death. I imagine anyone flying the black flag would not be received well by the other side anyway even if they did try to surrender after flying it.

  • "If the North triumphs it is ... the ultimate loss of free and responsible government on this continent."

It took nearly 100 years of strong federal government, but yeah ...

  • Stonewalls beard looks real but the other one is obviously fake

  • 0:53 - The beard couldn't look more fake, looks like it's trying to escape from his face.

    Damn good movie though!

  • Man,those beards look soooo fake.

  • @rimidalv47 you mean epic

  • @rimidalv47

But, if you look at the photographs of the time, the beards look "fake." Check out J.E.B. Stuart's entry on Wikipedia and check out the picture.
