  • after all that all you get is a clumsy high score?

  • Nobdy goes through what Jack did and goes back to a regular life. Imagine having your entire perception of reality shattered. There are things humans are not meant to know or understand and Jacks mind just couldn't take the strain.

  • @KrazyKommieKiller

    Thats crap.

Jack should stay sane afterall he is psychic he has a mind of his father (that Yithian).

Yithian father told him that he isnt like the rest of the humans yet he was behaving the same way.

They should make Jack far more stronger in the mind and intelligent oh and special abilleties like psychokinesis, mind control, illusion casting, pyrokinesis and other psychic powers.

  • 6:35 why jack, why, you were a hero, you deserved better than that.you should have escaped while you had the chance.

  • drug abuse? where do u get to mess with that? 0,o

  • @Ekidna2000

in the first aid boxes are also painkiller injections

  • was jack insane the entire time?

  • @raflmaster32 Lol you didnt hear the voices? xD He was unstable more so, just depending on how you play will determine just how unstable he gets

  • btw after I finished the game said" completed 92%" that means that I didn't visited every corners of the game? or that I missed something along the way? thx again

  • @towes

i guess you missed items, and too many sailors died on the ship, maybe ruth also died in innsmouth?

or some valves in the jail, you didn't used

  • @goTha83 which valves of the jails you mean? Anyway you'r right about all the things that you said :P

  • @towes

    xD

in the bath room in the 2nd floor (turn right after the stairs) there are 2 valves in the end of the room, i'm not sure if you need both :D i just use both to be sure to get 100% ;D

  • @goTha83 ooh THAT jail, I though you said the jail on the last part of the game.

  • I did not undersantd the end. I mean the Jack tried to hang himself at the arkham asylum he didnt died cause that was a flashback right? So did Jack died because of the injuries after the escape of the underground collapse? thanks for the video guide, without ir I never were able to finish the game !

  • @towes With the ending it wasn't a flashback, as you could see after he escaped from tht underground place he was all insane and he got his memories back. So they sent him back to the asylum. The prologue starts in 1915 where the 'night in that house' began and the ending is 1922, he was released the first time from Arkham 6 months prior in 1921.(That make sense?)

  • @sweet9angel4lena thk u thk u thk u , you are far too kind :D

  • @towes Youre welcome ^.^

  • A very underrate game

  • even though iv gotten perfect ratings in easy medium n hard

i cannot unlock the final difficulty

  • @turkeygod

usually it's unlocked after you finished the game on Hardened Detective difficulty, no matter what rating

  • @goTha83 i know

but iv done that and no go

  • @turkeygod

    that's why i used "usually" :D

tried to reload last savegame from the Hardened Detective run and finish the game one more time?

  • @goTha83 i think i tryed that already

but ill give it a shot lols

  • @goTha83 still no good

  • @pitch-dark5

    Uh, no.

Imagine yourself to be physically human, but have the knowledge of something far too superior for the human mind to comprehend.

You are a hybrid of an intelligent race, and human beings and you live amongst human kind. You are alone; you don't belong anywhere, no one will ever understand you, and you will never live with those who do.

    I'd probably kill myself too.

  • Wait, so that Yith switched minds with Jack's dad during Jack's conception? That must have been really awkward for both the Yith and the dad...

  • @DemonicTrilogy I can imagine the Yith freaking out. "OH GOD WHAT DO I DO?!"

  • damn!when i played it i understood why H.P.Lovercraft was so valued wrider

very nice story even though the panic scenes maked me nerveous

  • Jack....

You are a hybrid who has the mental capacity, and abilities of one of the most intellegent speices in the universe.. and you kill yourself?

    Rubbish.

Pft, then again, the Yithians were rather blind in the foresight department, weren't they?

  • Was That Cthulhu Smashing The Place? I Didnt Get A Good Look..

  • @BucketheadLV102 it was a submarine

  • Hold on, those bubbles of distortion ... is that supposed to be Yog-Sothoth?

  • Which difficulty level was ths on?

  • 1:11

    Time is shit?

  • YAY thanks dude this works

i already have an A, but in the last level i didnt saved the game in the signs that geted me scared but i did´t

  • after this i want read the book call of cthulhu :)

  • @EvilResurrecion Actually you'll probably want to read Shadow Over Innsmouth. It's more modeled around that than anything.

  • @EvilResurrecion The actual novel this is based on is called "Shadow Over Innsmouth." Call of Cthulu the book tells an entirely different (yet related) story to the game.

  • thanks man your videos helped me a lot!! :)

iä Hydra, iä Dagon, iä Cthulhu!

  • i think that everyone who has read HP Lovecraft, would know how it was ging to end... :)

  • I wanted a fight with cthulhu damn it or at least a real glimse at him rather than a crappy statue. I do like this game but my god is it glitchy, i had to download 3 save games just to get past all the damn bugs.

Over all a great game but the bugs really let it down

  • ok what IS the the thing that lives in the dark corners of the earth? Cthulu? Or is it never shown because the lazy makers of this game want you to "use your imagination" to scare yourself. Well I'm kind of tired of this "imagination" bullshit. Why can't they just show that the scary thing is? It just proves that they lack the ability because I can think of ways to draw shit that is SO MUCH more scary than anything you see in pictures/games/movies, I just lack the artistic ability to draw.

  • @7F0X7 How can you draw something that has no form?

  • It blows my mind how faithful this scene is to Shadow out of Time. Absolutely Fantastic! Too bad Hollywood can't figure out how to translate from print to film as good as this game translates from print to videogame. Lovecraft would be proud.

  • Actually, you never really get a confirmation that he dies. After all, it's fully possible that the caretaker managed to save him.

  • So there really is no way to save Jack at the end!? What the eff?

  • the game is really good...alot... but i gave up playing because of a glitch at the Marsh Refinery with the ore buckets D:

shame because i was really interested in beating the game

  • @qwertyb17

    like in the school i think: A, B, C, D, E and F

  • @goTha83 E?

  • @mattwilhelm60

what exactly is your question? :D

  • They should have had multiple endings for this game, or else it's a waste of time preserving his sanity

  • Thx You

  • Thank you thank you thank you so much for posting the full length ending!

  • lol mental condition deranged you fucked up his mind there

  • It kinda sucked that Cthulhu didnt actually make a appearance....

  • This game is really sick! Really!

  • There's something I don't understand here; Jack now knows the truth, but why would he be afraid of his heritage? The Yithians never sought to harm him, and in fact his inherited powers (including his ability to use Yithian technology) helped him greatly in this case, else he would not have been able to destroy Mother Hydra. I'm surprised that he didn't become a paranormal investigator again armed with the new knowledge--that would have been a nice sequel hook.

  • @Mazryonh The truth was too much for him to handle. The truth of the world, what's beyond it, what lurks in the shadows and the darkness. The terrifying cosmic reality that humanity has no concept of is too great a burden on a mortal mind. So the mind breaks, and fragments itself into insanity to cope. For some, mere insanity isn't enough to cope with this truth, and for them the only true solace comes with the release of death. That's what the theme of Lovecraft's work was about. Hopelessness.

  • @Terralventhe I think Lovecraft underestimated the human mind's ability to interpret things differently. I mean, it makes sense to go insane when seeing Cthulhu or other Great Old Ones if they are constantly projecting a hostile telepathic field that is harmful to humans, but simply learning about how weird the universe is should only have effects dependent on the character's personality. I know there are black holes and I'm not afraid of them, for instance.

  • @Mazryonh He didn't underestimate anything, really. You have to realize that the time during which Lovecraft wrote this, xenophobia, racism and more were all still a prominent part of the world and society. Lovecraft wrote about the terror of the unknown. The only reason you don't think it's such a big deal now is because open-mindedness is preached from childhood, and your exposure to horrific things is far more prevalent by compare. It's not terrifying because this generation is desensitized.

  • @Terralventhe Yep, even Lovecraft displayed anti-semitic tendencies despite being married to a Jewish woman. Still, given my upbringing to appreciate the weird and wacky things of science, it wouldn't really scare me to hear that Yog-Sothoth is real--to me it'd just be a part of the Space-Time Continuum given sapience. And Cthulhu can sleep forever--but if his cultists try to reawaken him, we have every right to defend our existence on Earth.

  • @Mazryonh If you say so.. Between the horrific truth and the very fact that Cthulhu and Yog-Sothoth's mere presence instills insanity through mental attacks alone, I doubt you'd last as long as you pride yourself on being able to. But if the world were to reveal Lovecraft's writings as truth, you're more than welcome to break your fist trying to punch an elder god.

  • @Terralventhe But that's it. Cthulhu is kept from acting by the Elder Sign, which is why he needs his cult to awaken. Keeping his cult away from such activity should be sufficient to keep him making zzzzz's. And don't the Great Old Ones/Elder Gods normally ignore humanity as beneath them unless one tries to draw their attentions with sacrifices and such?

  • @Mazryonh See, you say it like keeping his cult away from such activities is the easiest thing in the world. Mostall individuals in Lovecraft's stories that even come across the cults do so by pure chance, and none of them, save Armitage and his co-operators in The Dunwich Horror, has ever succeeded in stopping the cults from their plans to revive the Old Ones. And even then, humanity's 'big win' in the Dunwich Horror was purely due to the blunder of Wilbur, not due to anything humanity achieved

  • @Mazryonh:

The Elder Sign has nothing to do with the Great Old Ones being sealed,it's more of a repellant than anything else.ANYBODY can make the Elder Sign at any time if they have the means and the knowledge to do so.(Almost everyone in the Dreamlands knows how.)

The Great Old Ones are locked in R'lyeh for unspecified reasons, most likely because of some war.

Also, most of the Elder Gods (And Shub-Niggurath) actually support humanity, for example Nodens saving Randolph Carter from Nyarlathotep.

  • @Terralventhe:

Actually, your incorrect about the mental attacks thing.

In "The Call Of Cthulhu" while 2 out of the 8 or so sailors die of fright, they are still able to start running away almost immediately, though Cthulhu kills 4 of them with his claws before Old Castro rams a steamboat into his head.

And in "Through The Gates Of The Silver Key" Randolph Carter encounters Yog-Sothoth in his true form without much trouble, but the secret Yog-Sothoth reveals to him is beyond horrifying however.

  • @Terralventhe:

Also,in "The Dream Quest Of Unknown Kadath" (Lovecraft's only story that featured large-scale war/battle scenes besides his comedy story "The Battle That Ended The Century".) it's mentioned King Kuranes,a Dreamer who migrated from the real world to the Dreamlands, had actually both seen and met with Azathoth himself in the Center Of Chaos, but still managed to escape alive and with his sanity intact. (He sane enough to run a powerful, happy, and massive kingdom just fine.)

  • @Mazryonh:

The "telepathic field" really only appears in COC:DCOTE,and in the stories Cthulhu can only to talk to humans via dreams.

Also, knowledge of things is different than actually seeing them. You can read about things like war,but you won't understand until your one of those who are getting shot at,same applies to Lovecraft's universe.

  • @Trazen4 I prefer the "Telepathic Field" explanation because without it the "go mad just by seeing Cthulhu" doesn't hold up due to the human "don't give a shit" factor, for the same reason that no picture of Cthulhu can drive a person mad. People have their ability to make of stuff what they will, unless they're having an alien mindset forced upon them, which is why I posited the "Telepathic Field" explanation.

  • @Mazryonh Since he's part Yithian, he knew the Flying Polyps would try to kill him when he escaped. Plus, just about all of Lovecraft main characters die and/or go insane in his books, so it would run counter to do otherwise.

  • @NodDisciple1:

You forgot that the Yithians locked almost all of the Flying Polyps away before even the dinosaurs appeared.

Also,Randolph Carter had to go through a LOT more than nearly all of Lovecraft's protagonists combined, and he's fine aside from being stuck inside Zkauba's body.(Although after reading the entire Necronomicon and the Pnakoptic Manuscripts as well as Yog-Sothoth telling him the greatest secret of all,Randolph Carter is practically a god.)

  • i like the way you smile at me baby! :D old insane asylums FTW

  • well done! You have achived a new HIGH SCORE!!!

    Achivement unlock-100% RANK A

  • @MrDirectsky

    sir, thanks, sir

  • @goTha83 What is the last thing you unlock after the Craig Mullins gallery? Do you need to get an A rank on Hardened DDetective to get it or just complete Mythos Specialist?

  • @ZombieAlienHamster

What do you mean with "last thing"?

you unlock craig mullins gallery and mythos master mode, after you complete the game in the hardened detective mode

the 'A' rank is kind of "100% complete" achievement with few dependencies

  • @goTha83 Underneath the Craig Mullins Gallery is another locked thing. What is it? Do you have it?

  • @ZombieAlienHamster

hmm no idea, i haven't installed the game anymore

do you have already unlocked "background, character and concept art" galleries?

  • @goTha83 yes i do, craig mullins gallery is underneath them and theres a last one under that

  • @ZombieAlienHamster

try to google for it, i don't know :)

  • @MrDirectsky Thanks for the Spoiler x)

  • call of duty.....wo wait a minute what this game called call of duty?wait a minute!!!call called?call called? called of cthulhu!!!!!!no!call of cthulhu!

  • Can this special "A" ending be unlocked on any difficulty or only on normal and hard mode?

  • @krisfrosz133

    on "hardened detective" or harder

  • @toodarkpark1 well dunwich horror had a semi happy ending. It's the only one that I can think of that had the good guys win

  • I feel bad for Jacks dad. "He was displaced just moments before you were conceived" I mean..."oh baby, oh baby ohhhhhAAAHHHH!!! I'a Cthulhu!"

  • Did he say:

We must hurry, time is shit

    ?

  • Jack, no...!

Darn it! I was so pissed off when I finished.

It was bad enough that every character I started liking died in the process, but killing Jack as well? By suicide?! Come on! Didn't look like he was that much over the edge. He deserved a better ending after all he went through: either a heroic death or, better yet, a life...

  • @AlexVSharp, that's what, in my personal opinion, makes the whole Lovecraft world so atractive. Insanity, desperation, cosmic and horrible beings with so much power that could erase the human race in a matter of hours. And the best of all, knowing there's no way you can stop them.

  • @AssassinNest No, I don't think that makes a world attractive. Unless you're suicidal of course. No I prefer a dark gritty world. Almost like the wild west, but a more modern spin, or even a futuristic spin. Where a hard day of work is an honest day of work, but to make it big you have to be dishonest sometimes.

  • @AlexVSharp thats lovecraft for you. In that universe, there are no happy endings

  • @AlexVSharp Lovecraft would approve of it though. Thats one thing I can say.

  • @AlexVSharp Well, you never know, Jack may never have really died, but simply lost conciousness. It would've been revealed in the next game.

  • @AlexVSharp I am completely agreed. The problem is that what will be next in the story is yet to far for the Developers to handle. Because it resulted to be a very glitchy game, with bad mechanics and some other issues it was impossible to the company to make another.

  • LOL the entire time I thought this was going to be call of duty?_0

  • so why jack kill himself?

  • @jimbo98765 guilt because of the death of romona, and other friends. what he remembered from his time with the yith. the horrors he faced and his realization of what truly lurks behind shadows (and he knows there was more then what he just saw). the abuse he suffered from drugs/shock.

it was all to much for him, so he killed himself

  • so what's with the girl?

  • Haha 1:36 he says penist.

  • I thought I got the bad ending because Jack committed suicide, so I checked this 100% Rank A ending and he STILL kills himself. Shouldn't there be a more cheerful ending where Jack accepts what he is and doesn't go crazy? That's what I thought a good ending was.

  • @Kirinet There are no happy endings in Lovecraft's works, since in those stories the real truth about the world and the universe is impossible for a human mind to bear.

The only happier ending for Jack Walters, as the main character of a Lovecraft's story, would be for him to fully mutate into an alien monster and turn against humanity, like more or less it happens in shadow over Innsmouth. The game is tedious, frustrating and full of bugs, at least its end is not unrelated to Lovecraft

  • @TooDarkPark1 I had fun regardless. I will check out the books soon, then.

  • @Kirinet i was pissed off when that happened to me. i was like all that 4 nothing?!

  • @Kirinet Yeah, that's one of the things I could never get about Lovecraft. So we're infinitely small and all that shit.

Quantum Physics would make a person in a lovecraft story go insane.

  • @NutNapalm There's really nothing that won't make a person in a lovecraft story go insane.

  • this game is great but sometimes hard as hell... one of the best I'Ve ever played

  • wtf is up with this game ive never played its seems interesting but all i own is an xbox 360 can someone please conact me at Go_gunny6@hotmail.com or explain it to me here im so confused its literally eating at me i want to understand.

  • Now Dethklok's song Go Into the Water has so much more meaning to me.

  • So if you dont play it 100% you wont see the whole Ending Cutscene?

  • @MarkusHomer

    right

  • @goTha83: So if you only play it 50% you will see 50% of the endscene? ^^

  • @MarkusHomer

the final cutscene depends on your rank

the rank depends on difficulty, how often saved, playtime, and the percent

  • @MarkusHomer Yes, but there's a fan patch to rectify that. I think that you should be rewarded for playing the game to the fullest, not for rushing it through without enjoyment.

  • I hate those bullshit endings where the main character kills himself it makes the game feel like you accomplished nothing by saving his ass throughout the game

  • I love the design of the Yith in this game.

  • seriously? I saw no difference from this ending to the C ending. Isn't the A ending supposed to give more info or something?

  • @CadaverMutilatr

usually B or C are shorter, the last scenes aren't shown

  • Lol

    Jack- where are we going?

Creature-to the great library....we are going to check out books. I heard the new R.L Stein is on stock

  • how do you get rank a?

  • @FlashheadX

go to my cthulhu playlist and watch the first video there ^^ all info in the intro

  • Just finished the game, i dont understand squat of the main story sorry, if it isnt laid out to me black&white i never get it :P

The hospital scenes are flashbacks ofcourse

Where did jack go for 6 years, is he experiencing this when he sleeps? The Yith world ?

And during the cutscenes in the game, is it because ( i assume ) Jack has psychic powers he can see through the eyes of the fishmonsters ?

Then the game ends with im comitting suicide, so he went insane (again) after saving the world?

  • @andakanda

actually the game is about a secret operation of Yith Race. the point of this operation is to take vengeance on their ancient enemy, Deep Ones. To make their plot come true, Yith, race of time and dimension travellers, put their representative into Jacks body in order to place Jack's mind in a Yith's body. He spends 6 years in their reality, studying forbidden knowlege. yes, he experiencies this when he sleeps, it's the The Lost City of Pnakotus, where he lived as a Yithian

  • man I love this game.one of the best I've play

  • Wat?

  • What do you unlock by completing Mythos Specialist? My xbox has too many glitches.

  • Wow he mentioned the Mi-go. Fucking awesome. But I thought they were on Yu-goth. And I thought they chased the Polyps from there. Is that not why they came to earth? Did they chase them.

  • He can't take a single death yet kills 2 gods??? And even after knowing he killed 2 gods and is better then an average human, he kills himself..... Jack you got problems.....

  • so he kills him self...man im wachen the cave story walkthrouh cause that stuff was depresing

  • so he looses hope on everything and dies

  • thanks 4 your help hope i get a Rank A mithos now thank you

  • When i tipe Esc it shows my the menu end when i tipe enter nothing hapens and mouse click dose not work on dis game so i think you kant skip cut scenes

  • @vicentiup

ok i googled it for you, try BACKSPACE :P

  • you kant skip the cut scenes and if you du pls inform my thanks

  • @vicentiup

Esc or Enter or mouseklick, can't remember, but you can skip the most of them

  • @goTha83

try Backspace ;) it worked for me

btw is there a text of the book somewhere online? i cant find it anywhere and i'd kill to read it.

  • that is a lay you can not finish the game in 3 hours 7 na cople of minutes and achive rank A the game is to hard mabe 5 or 6 but never 3 i dont beliv you

  • @vicentiup

if you skip all cut scenes and know where to go and that to do, it's doable ;)

  • there couldn't be a better comment to this game than that lol:D, especially that i have just finished the game now

  • Hey Guys, for anyone wondering. There is a way to get past the glitch at the end where the deep one city collapses on you at the top of the spiral ramp. Move forward and left when u get in the door, and keep jumping as close to the left as possible.

  • What?? a 4/10? for me its 10/4 :p

  • kjhhjkjh

  • dam police state youtube blockibg my comments

  • hhhoi;

  • Cheeky twats! Transferring' people's minds for five years without permission!

  • @VANHELSING433

As aliens in the Mythos go, Yithians are downright cuddly.

  • It's a yithian

  • what about a cthulhu based 1st person shooter?

  • Can´t think of another FPS that killed off my character so many times and so unfairly too... Never bothered to finish the game after killing Dagon, so thnx for the cutscene Gotha! ( Disliked: unbelivable stupid AI, poor combat, ridiculous unavoidable traps on 1. play, lack of bugfix patches. Liked: puzzles, mentally unstable hero, mandatory pacifist streaks and the Lovecraftian universe ). Gothas walkthrough: 10/10, Game: 4/10...

  • I'm just getting into the whole Cthulhu lore and stuff, and I want to try this game, but as a horror game, are there any jump scares? Because I HATE jump scares.

  • Oh yeah theres alot don't worry about that alot of Headburners to you know the scary moments that make you feel sick

  • @NorthrendProductions nah, i can only think of a handful of jump scares. All in all its really cool game but you MUST get the patch for it! Kill many of the bugs big red tool is talking about!

  • @NorthrendProductions

I...can't really remember. But what you SHOULD be worried about is the bugs. When you get the game be sure to patch it and save like hell because the game is VERY buggy. Fun, but buggy.

  • i REMEMBER ONE LOVECRAFTIAN NOVEL WHERE A YITHIAN SWAPS MINDS WITH THE WRONG BODY

  • @VANHELSING433 lovecraft never wrote a novel. he only wrote short stories.

  • @whackadoodlydoo

Mountains of Madness and The Case of Charles Dextren Ward were technically novels.

  • come on was any of the stuff he saw really that bad? Yeah it was some weird **** but come on Jack, you killed a god(s) and got through just fine! Go for a long vacation at a nice sunny beach, you've earned it man.

  • Good job goTha83.

    Thanks for the videos.

  • Damn this game! It would of been LESS frustrating to squeeze a bag of iron wool up my ass...

  • So Jack is dead? Wassn't he supposed to not off himself?

  • @KosakKovich-about Jack offing himself, I like to think the Yithians projected a different mind into the body that committed suicide. And the true Jack remained in Yithian form!

  • silly game the earth doesn't have corners

  • @srsvideo its implieng the secrets of the earth

  • obviously, but just sit back and enjoy the joke kid

  • @srsvideo THE DARK SECRETS

  • @srsvideo it depends on what earth you are reffering to, if it was the planet as whole, its espherical form doesn't have corners, but over it surface it contains thousands ou streets, and thousands of corners. But I like to think it's reffering to the boundries of our reality.

  • @srsvideo all continents have rugged edges what can be looked on as corner so technicaly...

  • @srsvideo in another dimension, planets are cubes! i've seen it ! XD

  • @srsvideo Lol!

  • @srsvideo Actually, it does... How would you describe Africa?

  • @srsvideo hahahahahahahahahahahah nice one xD

  • Comment removed

  • i trully feel for jack with this one i noticed the song at the end he hung himself to was the tune ramona was huming as she drew in her book. had i been in his situation i would have pulled a handgun on myself long before i got into the temple. gotha thanks for the walkthrough couldnt have done it without ya

  • random question : i only played half of the game , so that fishman who follows you around . whose that any ways ?

  • Well it IS a horror story. Of course the 'good' ending isn't really good at all. If you ever delve into Lovecraft's stories its all very dark. Humans in the Cthulhu Mythos are insignificant compared to the Great Old Ones and Cthulhu himself. We just don't matter.

  • Interesting, you're in Beaverton too, neh?

  • this game was so hard to complete. i got really annoyed in the air filled tunnels. and on the boat. But i know whyhe went crazy. fuck i would too. okay so let me getthis straight jack is actually a yith, transfered into a human body. with no memories. i understand that much. but what is with the ending. why does he commit suicide?
