  • Also, I apologize in behalf of every dimwit who's making inappropriate comments about your child's death. They too are committing a terrible crime.

And also to everyone hiding behind the Bible YET AGAIN, 2000 years AFTER the fact--Just remember this on a pure, humane level--that man has created the Gods, and they're here to help US and not vice versa. Don't hurt the bone-and-flesh man you see in front of you for someone you don't see.

  • Lynn and Pat, I'm so sorry for your loss. I couldn't even imagine what that must be like. I admire your dedication to the cause and although it's a hard fight, you've already won in bringing more attention to the cause.

It is hard to believe that hate crimes are STILL committed today. People's inabilities to accept and failure in understanding have led to heinous murders, but that is no reason why this should go on!

  • i dont understand why people are so caughtup in why people live there lives in a way that seems unfit to someone else, like why should a person care that someone else is gay, if anything point the finger at yourself

"let him who is without sin cast the first stone"

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. Your Son Did NOT deserve to die for his sexuality. As for all of you haters, yes, the bible is the word of God. It is also a product of it's time written by imperfect men. If you want to adhere to all that is written in the Bible than we should all be "put to death". According to the Bible, if you wear two different types of clothing material, it is an abomination, If you reap the edges of your field it is an abomination etc... So I guess we're all going to hell.

  • how can you say he deserved to die or be murdered, when the 6th commandment clearly states "thou shall not kill" how can you follow the bible and say he deserved to die?

  • God bless u people! I'm really sorry for ur lost!

  • In due respect I could not find any info. on a death of the person they talk about.

  • Well it takes a really sick person to accuse someone of lying about a child being killed. You are very sick.

  • "Well it takes a really sick person to accuse someone of lying about a child being killed"

Would not be the first.... more crazy things have happened. I don't know just saying I could not find anything on his death and CNN said they same reason they did not use this video.

  • You couldn't find anything on CNN because gay people are killed all the time for being gay. They don't report every single news story on CNN. There are murders and child molestations all the time in the city I live near - they're on the local news. They don't make national news unless they're really really heinous or unusual.

  • U fool CNN could not find that there son was killed reason they did not use this video. In fact no one can find it. ODD.

  • Where did you hear this that CNN couldn't find that or use this video?

  • Lets keep in mind far more are killed each year for their faith. People need show more tolerance of peoples faith.

  • It takes a really cold-blooded heartless person to post something critical on a video of parents who have lost a child.

If you look at the FBIs website at the most recent hate crime statistics which are from 2005, you'll see that there were 119 hate crimes directed at Christians and 1,121 hate crimes directed at homosexuals. So just like all your other statements, timm9, this one is also a lie.

  • I did not post anything critical.

Most people killed for their faith do not get listed as a hate crime for some odd reason.

People get killed for their faith just about everyday OVER SEAS.

  • Of course it was critical. This video is about a boy who was killed for being gay. You let that be. If you are concerned that people aren't addressing the problem of Christians being killed you go make a video about that. You don't comment on here. God you're sick.

  • If you're trying to show what a moral life it is to be heterosexual you're failing miserably because all you've proven is that you're heartless, inconsiderate and incapable of feeling empathy.

  • your heartless, inconsiderate and incapable of feeling empathy.

When I told u about little boys raped and killed by gay men u NEVER said it was wrong and don't say it now after u are called out on it. It would be FAKE trying to save face.

  • You're so stupid. It goes without saying that raping children is wrong. Get a life.

  • Then why are u as a GAY MALE not speaking out on the tons of little boys gay men rape and kill.

  • Why are you as a heterosexual not speaking out about the toddlers that were raped that I posted on the other video? The one stat I found that most child molesters have in common more than any other characteristic is that they are MALE. So why aren't you speaking out about this problem in the male community, dumbass?

  • "Why are you as a heterosexual not speaking out about the toddlers that were raped that I posted on the other video?"

I did I said thats what happens when people act in no sexual self control.

Its common for gays to talk about other rape to deflect attention away from their own proclivities to have sex with children.

  • That's only a statement that could be made by a self-hating homosexual.

  • It's interesting many say they could not find anyone killed by their so called "son's" name. Interesting.

  • Lynn and Pat Mulder first made headlines last week when they implored the GOP presidential candidates to address pro-gay hate crime laws. The Mulder's son, Ryan Skipper, found himself on the receiving end of some homophobic madmen last spring. As the family explains in this PSA, two no good hooligans unleashed their anti-gay fury on Ryan, whose throat they slashed and body they battered.

  • The Ledger provides more details on the family's crusade:

Skipper was found stabbed to death on the side of a Wahneta road March 15. The Polk County Sheriff's Office has called his slaying a hate crime after a witness told them the men charged in his killing did it because Skipper was gay.

  • Since then, the Mulders have taken part in two gay pride parades, in St. Petersburg in June and Orlando in October, and are members of Lakeland's chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays.

They recently taped a public service announcement in support of the Matthew Shepard Act for Equality Florida, a gay-rights group.

  • Pat Mulder, 52, has written a research paper on the lack of medical services and rights for homosexual partners, who cannot marry or adopt children in Florida. Rainbow-colored rubber bracelets inscribed with "Remember Ryan" adorn her left wrist. She always wears two "so when someone asks about it, I can give them one."

  • Pat Mulder also says that pro-gay activism has "helped her cope," according to The Ledger. As sad as we are about Skipper's death, we're glad to know that his murder spawned such good work and, more importantly, national attention.

  • I agree with Tim. I think while this young sinner DID deserve to die, people of faith--ANY faith, including Islamic extremism--deserve respect and admiration from us all. How brave of them to believe in an invisible sky wizard without any evidence other than an ancient book of mythology. They are our true American heroes!

  • CORNY! Its very intolerant to bash whole groups of people just based on their Race or Creed (faith).

  • Exactly. It's intolerant and corny to bash people based on which invisible, magicical skywizard they CHOOSE to believe in, but it's perfectly acceptable and logical to bash people based on which gender they are in relation to which gender they find attractive. Timm and I have our priorities STRAIGHT. How about the rest of you heathens?

  • No one believes in skywizards so u just sound silly and make no point. That's just a very intolerant thing to say.

  • Well excuse me, but didn't God create the world out of magic? If not magic, what was it? And isn't God invisible to the naked eye? And doesn't the Bible make it clear that our Lord lives in the Heavens ABOVE? There is nothing about what I said that is offensive, sweet dear. And not to mention, I'm on YOUR side.

  • I'm really sorry for your loss. I'd be lying if I said I could even imagine what you've gone through losing a child, especially to a violent act. Thanks for being brave and putting the truth out for all to see even as very sick people leave horrible hateful and deviant comments. Your commitment to Truth and this cause honors the memory of your son. Thank you.

  • Having actually read all of DMB's comments I would like to retract my earlier statement. He/she is obviously a homosexual highlighting the insanity of fundamentalist Christianity, and antagonizing EVERYONE to get his/her point across on how barbaric and ridiculous certain interpretations of the bible can really be. However, doing it on THIS video, of a GRIEVING family, is utterly fucking revolting. I could not be more proud to be gay, but you have embarrassed the homosexual community. Shameful.

  • Darcymayberry clearly has the intellect of a lobotomized bacteria. He is probably 8 years old and his best friend touched his penis, it felt good, and now he's mad. It's alright hon, welcome to the team.

  • Killing those who are different than you is an unthinkible act. Love between two people is a beautiful thing, reguardless of gender. If they're of legal age and it's not within bloodline, then the two people should get married. Procreation doesn't have anything to do with it. You marry because you love someone, not to hurt or devalue anything. People don't understand that so they claim its wrong. I'm a supporter of gay marriage and I'm glad by next year we may have it legallized. OBAMA FOR '08!!

  • darcymayberry, I'm appauled by what you're saying. I can respect the fact that you have strong beliefs in your faith, but that doesn't give you the right to give excuses to people who hurt/kill others merely because they're different. If your God is all loving then he wouldn't want "his" people killing eachother over crap like this. It's not within anyone's place to claim whether or not God wanted stuff like this to happen. It shouldn't happen to anyone, reguardless if they were gay or not.

  • darcymayberry you are such a LIAR. The simple fact is that you are a HOMOsexual trying to mock Christians.

I don't need to judge you. You are a Pedophile POSING as a Christian. I am just stating facts based on your posts.

Soon you will be caught and placed in prison. That will be a happy day!! Oh.. and God Bless!

  • It is people like darcy why we as LGBTQ advocates must remain strong and united and hold our political leaders to be responsible to equality for all. sin is not the issue here,we are ALL guilty of sin, this is about respect and common rights that should be available to all people. Ryan lived his life as who he was and who god made him and doing so has touched many lives in a very positive way.

  • Now after his death I encourage any one who care about these issues to stand up in your community and make as much noise as darcy because there is where justice for Ryan is. Make a difference in your comunity for Ryan, for the others (3 that I know about)who were murdered because of their sexuality this year, and do it for yourself.

  • People need to learn that the Bible was written by a bunch of men who thought anything different was morally wrong and that love between two people is never wrong.

  • Mr and Mrs Mulder...regardless of what your son was....he still was a human being (that's number one). this person who committed this horrible act....i hope he is thinking about what he did. my sister and brother both know Damien. even from around school I know Damien..though i do not know him well. when i first heard that Ryan and Damien were related...my first thought went to him and then to you guys. God Bless you all and may this serve as a point of change in our society.

  • While we must be respectful to Mr and Mrs Mulder for losing a child, we must not forget that our Bible makes it clear that Christians must punish those who commit the sin of sodomy. At least those who killed this man were Christians that had their hearts in the right place and recognized that God condemns the sin of Homosexuality(TM).

  • but the bible also says that final judgement belongs to Him and Him alone. the bible ALSO says that thou shalt not kill. so there's at least one commandment broken in this situation because some one thought they needed to kill Mr Skipper for how Mr Skipper lived. interesting.

  • don't you ever act condescending towards me, friend. I KNOW what the bible says...and I KNOW what Jesus would do. he would reach out to the people affected by this, you pharisee!

  • darcymayberry, so god says kill those he disagrees with? I saw that no where in the Bible....I guess your view of christianity and mine are greatly different. I believe in a true god with true respect for EVERYONE and yes I am gay!

  • enough is enough, i'm not going to sit back any longer & constantly watch the beatings & murders of those who either choose, or just simply are "different" according to the general consensus of societies stereotypes, something must be done & the time is now

  • You can only state that if being gay or straight was a choice for you! Did you choose your sexuality? And if so, could you just as easily choose to be the opposite. Maybe some people do choose, but the vast majority of homosexual people were born with an inherant attraction to the same sex, just as many heterosexuals have always been attracted to the opposite sex. It's called diversity and it's a great thing.

  • haha yeah okay. byee

  • And that's completely relevant to this video, hun. After all, when we make choices in life that have absolutely no tangible impact on anyone else we deserve to be murdered! Good riddance, we say!

    God bless.

  • Oh Darcymayberry...still waiting to hear from you deary...you inhuman heartless asshole...so when can we meet - so I can punch you right in that Fat Sanctimonious mouth of yours?

  • Something makes me think Darcy's a troll, just look at his profile

  • Nice to see some people like you still have not learned how to read!!!.. If you have you would have read the thousands of medical evidence documents that state clearly that your sexuality is also transmitted through the genetic code from your parents.....So in NO way is it a choice!!

Think about it just for a minute....Who would EVER choose to be gay with biggest like you around that go around bashing gay people's heads in...just for fun

  • Whatever, and what is that to you? You're not a god, so step off!

  • that looks bad on polk county

  • Too bad they didn't pick that one... that would have been awesome!

  • Thank you guys for doing this.

  • I've been away from Polk County for several years. Although it's a rural place, I never thought such a crime could be committed there in this day and age. You've got my support!

  • Mrs Murdoch...you'd be suprised. in fact...i have a video dedicated to a sheriff's deputy who served Polk County on my page if you would like to see it.

  • I think it's wonderful that you are taking the time to speak out on something so horrible that happened to your family. The one person who is basically my backbone is gay, and lives a happier, better life than anyone I know. My gay friends are my angels in disguise. Wake up, and face it. I don't think God would punish something he created. I support this cause with every fiber of my being. Thanks again for taking a stand.

  • Wow that was a strong video and made me cry a bit. I'm disappionted that it wasn't on the debate. I think if all the gays just move to Canada which has a hate crime bill, accept gays in the military and gay marrige then the US will be filled with only straight backward Republican's. So sad to see! Up here in Canada we don't undertsand why gays and lesbians are not aceepted in your society. Isn't the US of A suppose to be the land of the free?

  • You would think huh? The USA "Land of Hypocracy"..Liberty & Justice for WHITE,RICH,Christians only..such hypocracy makes me ill to be an American citizen.Liberty & Justice for All are just pretty words, on the EMPTY theatre of America...disgraceful!

  • The REAL AMerica reeled it's head during KATRINA, for all the world to see!! A God-damm disgrace! 2004 the GOP USED Gays/Lesbians DEMONIZING them at every turn..this country is NOTHING like it spews to the rest of the world..it's pure BS!

  • yes, but the French Quarter was left alone, where the GLBT folk live... if this was a sign from their "god" what does it say?

  • Hi, I'm sorry about your lost i have 2 children they are both straight but that's not the issue I would love them no matter what. I have friends that are both men and women that are gay and they are the most faithful friends that I have. This has to stop . Whatever it takes to get this across to make them understand.I support you and every one who helps you.

    Carol

  • you so-called true christians are blind christians if you ask me. maybe you should try reading the other parts of that self-contradictory book that is not necessary to have a relationship with god. i remember a part of the bible that says god loves all his children, also he forgives sins, so tell me where the fuck you get off thinking you can live your life sinning through hate and then say someone else is a sinner. sorry for your loss and the harsh reality of my comment-love RISTO!!!

  • Something the fundamentalist religious people tend to forget is that, you can openly reject and voice your beliefs against homosexuality without the assault, murder or physical / verbal abuse of Gays and Lesbians. It is possible to voice your opinion while being respectful and decent human beings.

I wish I had the chance to meet your son and I thank you and hope this gets selected, as it truly deserves to be.

  • We are praying for you during this time of loss. The enemy wants to do what he can to destroy you. Don't let him. ALL OF GOD"S CHILDREN HE LOVES. no matter what orientation. Funny how republican right wings like to leave that out. They certainly disgust me by not even displaying the love of Jesus in them. They will be held accountable for their actions and hate crimes towards you. Jesus is holding your son right now and you all as well. Blessings

  • Everything is gray: even when it comes to religion. This is why there are so many different forms: no one person can say their religion is the absolute truth. We as a society should not divide against ourselves; we should accept the facets of what makes each of us human - our individuality and uniqueness.

  • Truly, I was leaning toward a more general realization that people have lives and they not the same as everyone else. I am sorry if it came off as an attack on Christian beliefs. Personally, I don't believe in incorporating myself into the narrow perspectives of social groups. I like to think an understanding of all social groups is needed as a wholesome family value, else we, as a society, may lose to bickering caused by an unwillingness to understand the other parties :-/

  • Darcymayberry, you're being Persecuted..Really now? Now thats Rich! You are unbelieveable, I can barely find the words...go away in your imaginary world,of angels, and puffy clouds with harp music you sick, brainwashed weirdo. Btter yet- I here Fred Phelps needs new recruits like you. You'd fit right on in!

  • darcymayberry - Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree... yeah, makes perfect sense.

...JK Rowling could have written that book too!

  • Persecuting others is not a right. You have just as many rights as anyone else to practice your religion of CHOICE, you have NO right to discriminate against anyone. That is not a right.

  • Ahh Darcymayberry -- you show up again, you sick bastard. So..You came out of your mom's vagina Praying ah? It must hurt your head to come up with these "talking points" huh? What a sick, sad, pathetic piece of shit you are...

  • I am very sorry that you feel that way. Homosexuality is not a choice -which is medicaly proven. Religion IS a choice you can walk out of a church but somone can NOT walk out of their own being.

  • Darcymayberry - being gay may be a choice for you, but not for me!

  • If being gay was a choice, I don't understand why people would make the choice of being persecuted, not having the right to marry the one they love or live in the fear that they might get beat up or even murdered!

And if religion in the other hand isn't a choice, why do some people convert themselves to other religions than the one they have been raised with.

  • assuming it's a choice, gay people choose to be gay because it's easier to live honest with ourselves and others about who we truly are. it becomes destructive to keep such a secret inside. and in my opinion, it's not so much a choice of if we are gay or not, but whether or not we are going to act on it.

  • and with religion, people convert to other religions than the one they were raised with because they feel that they just don't truly believe in the one they were raised under, or they find another religion to feel true.

  • How exactly can you be born with a religion? Homosexuality is a natural urge that can easily be inborn, but religion is 100% a social construct that must be taught. You are born with no religious belief.

  • Blessed be, well maybe not, I am a pagan thanks to fundamentalist evangelical christians who have shown me the Great Lie behind the "God Is Love" shtick. I have a brother who is gay, a sister who is a lesbian. I am concerned for them, and will die if necessary to protect them from evil christian murderers, because in all sincerity, I feel that christians are evil people intent only on murder, torture and looting.

  • How exactly are youtube comments "persecuting" you? When your children are murdered for being Christian, then maybe you can say you're being persecuted. Christians are not the only people with free speech rights.

  • Excuse me??

  • To say that someone had murder coming to him is hateful and against the teachings of the Bible. The word of one religion does not qualify as the commandment for all under the laws of the United States. For any one person to force their religious beliefs on the lives of people, hindering and truncating the lives of others is an ultimate sin. It is the sin of murder.

  • What a cold and cruel statement. This is not the love that Jesus spoke of (he befriended prostitutes and lepers!).God wants you to show His love to others, leave the judging to Him. No one is without sin - judge not lest ye be judged. God's judgment will not excuse murderers and those who condone these vicious acts.Your line of reasoning is what caused 9/11.I hope God reveals Himself to you and that you discover the true meaning of His word.

  • You are a disgrace! Ever hear the saying "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it"...How dare you say something so heiness to these parents...Im at a loss of words,You are a sick, pathetic person darcymayberry.

  • Darcymayberry - grow the EFF up your sick freak! May your God NOT have mercy on your sick, hateful soul!

  • I swear darcymayberry to your Imaginary God...If I knew who you were, I'd slap the shit out of you for being so Blatantly Cruel!

  • ..and another thing darcymayberry....If I could, I'd beat you senseless with your Buy-Bull,and stuff your GOP voting registration up your sick, hateful arse!

  • Hey darcymayberry, have you ever shaved any part of your body? Cause if you have, according to Leviticus you're going to Hell too :)

    Have a nice day.

  • Leviticus also says you can't eat shellfish or plant two different crops next to each other, what's your point?

  • Thank you for this comment it is so true.

  • I wish I had known your son. It sounds like he was a lovely person. My heart goes out to you both, and thank you for all that you are doing. Best wishes,

    Beth

  • I can only echo what others have said. I didn't know Ryan, but I thank you as parents of a gay man for taking a stand. I know it's not the easiest thing for parents to come to terms with in the first place, and especially so with what you've had to deal with. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for taking a stand on your son's behalf and on behalf of every gay, lesbian, and transgendered person. It is very appreciated.

  • Lynn & Patt, your son Ryan used to work for my mom years ago in Lakeland, I know she went to the funeral...I was not able to go because I am in law school in DC, but I too am gay and I thank you so much for all that you are doing to combat the hatred and fear that we face every day. I really hope your video gets selected because as a nation of liberty and freedom we don't have much of those things ans its time to bring that to an end.

  • Hello Lynn & Pat! My name is Richie Long and I live in lakeland Florida. While I did not know Ryan personally, my heart goes out to you and your family.I am an openly gay male and I aplaud you in making this video question! May GOD bless you and thank you for standing up for the entire gay, lesbian, and transgender community! Sincerely, Richie Long of Lakeland Florida

  • First, my condolences to you and your family at the loss of your son. Indeed a tragedy and one that was certainly senseless. Thank you for sharing your experience to hopefully help make our country a better place to live for ALL those who call the United States home.

  • God Bless you both and your family. Thank

you for speaking out about this.

  • May I say as a Gay man..While your question is indeed valid...and Sad to even have to be asked in America 2007. You will never get a decent answer from any GOP Candidate...they will "sugar-coat" any answer you're expecting to hear. I Blame the GOP's "Demonizing & SCAPEGOATING" of our Nations LGBT citizens for the last 6-7yrs, that LEAD to the Death of your son...May You Both find Inner Peace! Rex

  • Our community mourns with you M/Mrs. Mulder, thanks so much for speaking up. Pick this video Anderson Cooper and CNN.

I really think that it is important that all of our parents "come out" themselves to their friends and churches and neighborhoods. Come out and ask questions of these preachers who spread the hate, or scream and raise a little hell with us

And soon enought George Bush the worst president in History will be GONE....it can only help in our battle

  • IF you are a woman...I hope your eggs are so dry..they're dusty. May your God NEVER Bless you with the Innocent mind of a child so that you could poison them with your sickness.

  • my goddess is bigger than your god, BIG FINGER!

  • Darcy...this is wrong. your condemnation is unwelcome and unjust. God IS against homosexuality...but he also loves the sinner yet hates the sin. so you can't pick and choose what you want to believe in the bible. this statement reflects in this situation that is what you do.

  • bigboiJC, I should also point out that I agree with the idea that we CANNOT pick and choose what we get out of the Bible. So when Sodom and Gomorrah and Leviticus make it clear that grown adults must die for having consensual sex with adults of their same sex, we need not ignore the fact that young men like the one spoken of in this video died because God WANTED him to die. God makes no mistakes when he judges the unrighteous. God bless.

  • I do not promote the homosexual lifestyle. i am a christian. I remember all the times when i've done wrong and ask myself how would I want to be treated if i were to be approached about christ. would i want "BE A CHRISTIAN OR DIE AND GO TO HELL" or "hey is there anything I can do for you?". show love and respect. this will win over many in the long run.

  • I agree with your strategy, bigboi. We should present ourselves as loving and accepting Christians so that gay men and women will be more easily persuaded to stop forming romantic bonds with people that make them happy--people of their same sex--and instead propping up relationships that make them miserable and depressed--relationships with those of their opposite sex. In the end, at least this makes US happy, which is all that really matters.

  • Gosh, BigBoi's comment here is so helpful. "I do not promote the homosexual lifestyle." It's so nice that people like us can create an extremely hostile environment for GROWN ADULTS who happen to be physically/emotionally attracted to people of their same sex.

  • so what are you saying...that i would create a hostile environment just by saying that? or that i would willfully be hostile towards another gay person? or is there a third option?

  • No, hun. I'm saying that people like us create the environment that facilitates this type of anger and violence towards these adults who choose to do things that have absolutely no impact on others. We aren't necessarily hostile ourselves, but we create an environment that is. How else do you think people are going to respond when we keep saying things like, "adults forming relationships with other adults? BAD!!!" ?

  • But I do want to make myself clear, sweet dear. In no way am I implying that this environment we have created is a bad thing. I posit just the opposite, in fact. Indeed, people MUST be hostile towards sin, lest our society shall become too permissive.

  • thank you....so what you and I are BOTH saying is that we need to watch the words we use when presenting people with a situation....shoot that's the way i'd want it when someone presents something that they feel needs to be discussed with me.

  • No, I don't think we need to watch anything. Our book of Mythology tells us monogamous, adult same-sex relationships are wrong, so we mindlessly regurgitate that idea. Just because we're encouraging impressionable young people to murder gay people isn't a reason for us to "watch our words." Sin is sin, and the potentially negative consequences of pointing that out are irrelevant to our objective.

  • Darcy....would jesus condemn in a time of hurt and anguish? NO! he would love.where there is hurt there should be hope. hope for someone to come along and say "let me help you" and be a support to those in need instead of kicking them when they are down. there's a time and a place for pointing things out...and this is neither the time nor the place. if YOU want to condemn them, then that's between you and God...but as for me and my house, we shall do what Jesus wants us to do. be a support.

  • I never knew that anyone, especially a god such as devine as described, would have a dislike between something as good and beautiful as love.

  • Well that's just the thing...love can only truly exist between a penis and a vagina anyway. This has been scientifically proven. You see, when the penis and vagina are in close proximity to one another, hormonal carrier cells can sense the *different* hormonal cells in the other individual.

  • Funny, but for many of us we like to be serious when talking about things such as these in times such as these. No offense but I did laugh.

  • Next, love waves are passively transmitted from each organ to the other, and eventually reach the brain to activate the love glands in the upper cranium. This tells the individual that he or she is attracted to the opposite sex mate.

  • In turn, other people within that hostile environment can latch on to our completely illogical and meaningless hostile message about adult sexuality and kill people because we told them our invisible, supernatural skydaddy hates said "sin." Hate the sinner, love the sin indeed!

  • I knew Ryan and what a blessing he was to every one that he touched in his life. While the tragedy of his death will never be justified I am so proud of the efforts that have been made on his behalf. I cannot even begin to express the admiration I have for all of Ryan's family and friends who have spoken out, without fear and may we all make a difference in the world. God bless you.

  • You are amazing parents. The LGBT community deserves a question like this to be answered. Thank you so much for speaking up.

  • also speaking as a LGBT pagen. I just want to say thank you for being such a great influence for other parents of LGBT persons and showing that being LGBT does not mean your not human. So thank you for that very very much. Also I'm sorry your son was takin from you. You have my deepest condolences for your loss.

  • also speaking as a LGBT pagen. I just want to say thank you for being such a great influence for other parents of LGBT persons and showing that being LGBT does not mean your not human. So thank you for that very very much. Also I'm sorry your son was takin from you. You have my deepest condolences for your loss.

  • Dear Mr. and Mrs. Mulder, First of all, I wish to extend my condolences for your loss. I am a lesbin in Lakeland, and I share in your grief for I consider your son a brother of the GLBT Community. Your loss should be ours as well. I commend you on your courage to ask such an important question to the candidates. May the Divine be with you and give you strength and peace durring this difficult time. Bless You. Alex S. Lesbian, Pagan, and Card Carrying Libertarian.

  • God put all walks of life on this earth and not to judge anyone. If we all were clones of equal identity. Wouldn't it be a dull place to live here on Earth. We are all here for a purpose to learn and not to Judge. If everyone would love, earth would be a more beautiful place to live. My heart goes out to you and your family for your loss. He is home with the lord and I ask that God hugs him till you all get there one day.

    My support

  • I feel that this is a valid and important question to ask our future leaders. CNN should submit this question for the debate and as a fellow resident of Polk County, Florida I support you and your family and send you my condolences over your loss.

  • I sympathize with you tremendous loss no parent should ever have to face the loss of a child. I speak from experience. I lost my son to cancer. I have been a church member for most of my life never have I or any member of our church discriminated against gays. Your video tends to discriminate against the church community in general. For this I am very sorry.

  • My heart goes out to you both.

The Mulders assert that some-- not all-- religious institutions dehumanize gay people. That particularly impacts young people as they try and cope with life's many complexities. They are not a broad-brushed condemnation against the faith community in America of which they may be a part. Rather, they speak to those institutions, non-secular and secular, whose words cut like a knife through the spirit of gay youth. God bless you.

  • God Bless! Good luck!

  • No parent should ever have to bury their child. Especially when it's the result of a terrible hate-crime.

This is an important issue. CNN needs to pick this.

  • I admire your courage. If CNN doesn't pick this question, or at least a similar question by a couple in a similar situation, I might lose respect for CNN.

Please let these voices be heard. People need to know that the LGBT community DOES face a lot of scrutiny.

  • Awesome question.

  • You are pillars of strength, not only for coping with your terrible loss, but for coping with it in a way that helps others.

  • our country is based on equality, freedom, pursuit of happiness... I would like to see how our political leaders can bring us back to those basic values that my family holds to be important.

  • AMAZING! CNN better ask this, and thanks for the question, you guys are great people for this!

  • I hope CNN picks this question.

  • I'm very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine...

Great question and I hope they pick it.

  • BRAVO BRAVO... thank you for this question. I hope this gets shown on the show and to see someone other than Guliani answer this.

  • Fantastic question! Must be asked.

  • More parents of LGBT people should speak out. Prejudice against a child or children is bullying, whether the basis is religious or not. The sanctimonious hypocrisy of groups for so called 'family values' encourage such hatred is an assault on your child, and as parents, we should voice our distaste and repulsion at those who further hateful bigotry in the name of society, religion, or creed and color. Your poignant question needs to be asked, and show we have a conscience.

  • I am sorry about your loss...though im not from the states, i can certainly empathize the cause you are advancing...Best of luck and bravo for your courage! Thank you for speaking out!

  • I really hope CNN picks this question for the debate.

  • Bravo!

  • Great question. Your courage and conviction is humbling.

Although I have no doubt that the candidates would find a find to worm their way out of the question, I think it would be incredibly useful for your question to be screened on CNN.

I live in Australia, and sometimes take for granted the laws we have to protect minorities here.

  • Thank you for asking this question; your horrible loss is not only heart wrenching for all of us in the LGBT community, but also for all people with even the slightest moral fiber or shred of empathy. Condolences for your loss--thank you for having the courage to channel your anger and grief into what I hope will be an important contribution to the national presidential debate.

  • I would like to say I'm so sorry for your horrible loss =/ I am gay and out to about 30 people and have been blessed enough to have full support from them all. I just wish everyone had that much care whether it be from friends or family or even a complete stranger. The only thing I ask is do not specifically target republicans on this issue because we all know it is not minute enough that is only used by one group.

  • God bless you folks, and sincere condolences for your loss. And congratulations on your bravery for putting forth this question. Will they have the guts to include it (and reply to it) in the debate? Time will tell.

  • Why do republicans rally against gay and transgendered Americans when so many self hating gays are in the upper echelons of the republican party.

American right wing conservative ideology is a fraud and a danger to the freedoms of humanity.

  • Excellent question.

  • Excellent question, but you're asking the wrong people. These people that will take the podeum will play politics and not answer the true question. Ron Paul will most likely be honest, but then again he is the only one up there who is a decent person. It just always seems like current social matters are only seen as imperitive by Librals, and this is coming from an independent. You are both very brave, thank you for the courage you have shown...

  • My deepest condolences. Asking this question took tremendous courage. You're true patriots.

  • What an thing to go through. I am truly sorry that this happened to you, and you're question is probably one of the best ones there will be, considering people overlook personal, real life issues very often to focus on more global ones.

I hope your question is chosen.

  • If this question is asked (which I doubt CNN being a hack agency) the candidates will make it a violence/criminal/law enforcement issue instead of hate/religious issue and avoid answering. I would like to see the former pro-choice cross dressing Guliani answer this one, co
