  • Oh, that they would have done it on one microphone, like John, Paul and George live on Yes It Is. This is not a 3 solo song, but a great harmony song. No one shares a mic anymore. Except Bruce, Paul and Neil.

  • The three best female singers in da world and this from a Brit, lol Sexay :D

  • One of my favorite versions of this song..what a beautiful blending of voices..thank you for posting..

  • Great version!

  • The very best version I can find!

  • the voices speak for themselves, but Emmy's hair needs to be mentioned by me! All I can say is "Roadhouse" (the movie)

  • did this group ever record this song in the studio or put it on record??

  • @Anamorphosis Yes, this was on the first "Trio" album, released in 1987.

  • Yes,they recorded their first Trio album in 1986 and their second in 1999.Even before their first album, they had recorded and performed together on numerous occasions.

  • i fell in love with this version when i first heard it?? i love the older version too? but they did a good job with this song

  • @strat8383 very true! And I credit Santa as well!

  • @strat8383 Proof that God doesn't love us that that we have wars. Holy cow. Two proofs disproving each other.

Leave God alone and listen to the music.

  • AWESOME!

  • must have been a hard song for Emmylou with Graham Parker being dead.

  • Not surprising Emmylou acknowledged the band before taking a bow.

There's Emmylou, then a whole bunch behind this angel.

  • @1heavygold : thats a great insult to 2 other queen of country friend.

im a huge admirer of emmylou harris her ballads and voice but dolly and linda are standing right besides her in voice capability

there's emmylou surrounded by two more legends supported by a insanely capable band

  • Killer! from Dolly's show? What a band! Lee Sklar & Russ Kunkel (from all those 70's JT records!) Mr. Dave's signature lead guitar sound, Mark O'Connor & Herb Pederson. Couldn't place Weissenborn player at the right or guitar player at far left. Thanks for this slice of musical heaven!

  • Such a beautiful song sung by the most beautiful country music ladies. Such close harmony! It's great to be alive to enjoy such a treat. Thanks.

  • tree angel's

  • Is that an old Weisenborn at 2:07 ?

    Great sound.

The whole clip is great !!

  • Look up The Teddy Bears singing their original version of this song. And then take a guess who the guitar player is.

    OY!! (He also wrote this)

  • The Teadybears sung this song, when I first heard it in January 1959..

    The Weissenberger sounds good.

  • wow

  • From a folk-singer and musician from the Old Castillia (Spain): I don`t tire hearing these three Big Country-Folk Ladies.

...Since I was seventeen in 1980...

LOVE YOU MATT!! YOUR AUNTIE JENNY!!

  • I am not a country music fan, but this sure got

    my attention.

  • These three ladies are the tops. Add Patsy Kline, Alison Krauss and Gillain Welch and you have the creme de la creme. Not bad backing guys as well. See the DVD "Down from the Mountain" for morem of Emmylou and others.

  • this is the best version around

  • We do see emmylou, we see an angel.

  • The first time I ever cried with this song was ten years back. Now, I can listen to and only remember.

  • they do sing great together

  • Comment removed

  • She DID do this very well back when she was straight. Once she burnt her brain with the drugs.......well, that was that. What a waste.

  • That's what I thought, the first time I heard Amy. I thought she was great. But she didn't stand the test of time. I can listen to Lindat, Dolly, or Emmylou over and over and over -- and have for the past thirty years, but I found that I've tired of Amy. I don't know why. Listen to the passion in Emmylou's voice, and the passion in Linda's voice, and the loveliness in Dolly's voice and maybe that will help answer. There's a certain fluidity in their voices I don't hear in Amy's.

  • @bruceok i fully agreed

  • @bruceok i think amy sings her own songs better

  • @bruceok i think amy sings her own stuff better, and maybe this is an older woman's song.

  • to have 3 legends sing together and a graet back up grop is heaven

  • WHEN i DIE , I want to be where ever these 3 beautiful ladies are gonna be so I can here them sing FOR EVER AND EVER . That is my favorite afterlife wish I think heaven must have this kind of singers and music !! SO I BETTER CHANGE MY WAYS !! UMM????

  • This song brings back so many memeories when I was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. Abig hit for the Teddy Bears.

  • Linda Makes me cry

  • It is the very best from thies trio...

  • One of the most beautiful song I never heard!

  • Did anyone notice Alexander Gudovnov in the background?

  • is that JERRY DOUGLES ON DOBRO ?????????

  • Dolly once asked Emmylou Harris on stage in the beige buckskin "What makes you so crusty?"

"Driving a school bus?" "Stop! Or I'll throw you off the bus!" Dolly asked why are you so bossy?" "Well...that goes with driving a school bus too." 80 children, from 4-20 need a driver that can "be in control."

"Next x u do that...I'm gonna tell your ma about those magazines of yours."

  • WOW WHAT A TRIO AND A GREAT SONG

  • This was back when the Tonight Show would allow performers to do more than one number. I think it was called the concert segment. Sorely missed, but I think it was a 90 minute show, then. 10.30 to 1 AM. East coast, anyway.

  • You mean 11:30 to 1:00

  • Your comment is obvious, Emmylou Harris can sing harmony with just about anyone and she has for many years.

  • what a heavenly blending of voices

  • Such a GREAT album

  • Thanks.

  • Their album "Trio" is awesome. Go get it immediately.

  • For God...

  • who is the girl with the long black hair, seen in the background???

  • Do you mean the guitar player? That's David Lindley

  • yeah.... I thought that was DL! That whole group looks like a whos who of session men. Can anyone name the line-up? A great crew to say the least.

ps. I love Emmylou... but that solo should have been LR. just an opinion.

  • As mainedrummer pointed out, David Lindley on the red guitar, and it looks like Russ Kunkel on drums.

  • love this!

  • super

  • Wonderful song ... all my youth !!! and Emmylou is superb as usually !!! Very great clip.

  • emmy is my queen and dolly is my joker. linda should be president. b

  • Emmylou, Dolly and Linda - as close to Paradise as it can be!

  • Great song, very well done!

  • Thanks for video. You have EXCELLENT taste. :) Kris

  • Beautiful people - every one of them - making beautiful music!

  • They don't make music like this anymore. This is beyond beautiful! In fact, nothing is beautiful, anymore. Life has become disgusting since Reagan/Bushes & their neocon friends!!! There have been no music, jobs, happiness, LIFE, as it has always been known, except for the wealthy!!! If the people don't wise us soon, the entire earth, and everything on it, will deteriorate into a vast NOTHINGNESS!!!

  • Thank U
